Cena beats Khali... it's this very kind of junk that makes me not want to watch wrestling. Cena can't win them all, but he seems to. The WWE needs a new champion. And I'm wondering if they need a new chairman too.

JeffSexton -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/4/2007 8:46:56 AM)

There is a reason Cena was once known as "The Franchise"... WWE is setting him up to be this generation's Hogan...

Fwanger -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/4/2007 12:35:03 PM)

Hey, I'll admit, I cracked a grin when I saw that Cena beat Khali. What can I say, the guy grew on me. Besides I didn't want Khali getting the title.

JeffSexton -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/4/2007 12:39:16 PM)

I'm kinda thinking he might drop it to Triple H by Survivor Series, assuming Trip comes back around SummerSlam...

Maybe the "draft" will bring in someone Cena could drop it to??

As much as I like the guy, I really would like to see him as a non-champion Main Event level competitor, at least for a while...

Fwanger -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/4/2007 1:44:24 PM)

With Michaels and HHH both out of action, there really isn't anyone else there I would like to see champion right now. With the draft coming up though, it could be interesting to see who ends up where.

JeffSexton -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/4/2007 2:07:08 PM)

just a random comment:

Is it sad that Pro Wrestling fans tell time by (at least as far as months go) PPVs???

Fwanger -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/4/2007 4:14:22 PM)

*lol* I remember when there used to be just four. Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania, Summerslam and Survivor Series. One for each season. Now Vince has one once every couple of weeks. Think of the money he must have made over the years, it's sickening. I only get Wrestlemania and Summerslam. And they're $50 a pop.

JeffSexton -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/4/2007 4:24:30 PM)

I got Royal Rumble this year, I might keep that one and add the other three over the next three years (one per year). Probably go again whenever WWE is doing a tv/PPV show in ATL or other close location. Unsure about that though... got to do the four things I wanted to do as far as WWE live events go (see HBK's, 'Taker's, Benoit's, and Cena's entrances live). Might go back to one to see Kane's entrance live.

BTW: If you haven't been to a WWE live event with 'Taker in it, GO! It looks amazing on TV, but the commentators aint joking around when they say that it will give you goosebumps!!

Fwanger -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/4/2007 5:42:06 PM)

I've always wanted to go to a live wrestling event. My dad used to go up to Allentown when he was a kid and see Bruno Sammartino, Chief Jay Strongbow, etc. It's a lot different now than back then, but still it must be amazing to do so.

I'm thinking of trying to get to Wrestlemania 24.

LM1dog -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/4/2007 7:52:09 PM)

the only time I saw Takers entrance was when he was riding that bike. I would like to see it now.
I think it was December PPV 2000. The main event was Kurt Angle, HHH, Taker, Rikishi, The Rock, and Stone Cold in a hell in the cell match. It was a good match even if Angle won.
I got to see in the 80's Hulk,Andre, Savage,Demolition,Bret Hart,and Ultimate Warrior to name a few. They use to do t.v. tapings for three or four weeks in one night.

I saw on one website that Benoit was going to raw.

noblesinger -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/4/2007 10:49:21 PM)

I'm not surprised. It's time for RAW and Vince is being the "spoiled brat ex-champion." He came out at the beginning of the show, during Cena's ring time, and started spouting off on how Cena was out there to mock him and rub his face in the fact that he's no longer a champion. Cena was calm in telling him to get over it, but Vince ended up putting Cena in a Triple Threat Match for the title against Umaga and Khali. And as if that's not enough, he made Santino put the I-C belt up against Chris Masters, Ric Flair went up against Randy Orton, the Hardy Boyz against Cade & Murdock for the tag belts, and Torrie had to wrestle Carlito (alone!) Yep, it's a definite fact: Vincent Kennedy MacMahon's ego has gone to his pea-brain. Why can that man not leave well-enough alone? It's the night after a grueling PPV, most of these folks are beat up. . . and he makes them do all of this garbage?!? Yeeeeeesssshhhhhhh!!!!!

I shudder to think of what Vinny will be like tomorrow night on ECW, when Lashley tries to celebrate his 2nd title reign. Bobby will probably have to face the entire ECW roster in one night!! At least, I hope he doesn't have to!

Duane

Fwanger -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/5/2007 11:17:58 AM)

RAW was pretty good last night despite Vince's temper tantrums. The Tori/Carlito thing is always disturbing though. I can't believe my Hardyz lost the titles, but they'll probably get them back at Summerslam.

I'm glad once again that Cena beat the odds. I was stressin for a while there.

I honestly thought that they were announcing someone's return to RAW last night and it turned out that next week along with the draft it will be Vince McMahon Appreciation Day. I shudder to think what stupid thing he is going to do.

I'm sick and tired of Randy Orton. The storyline is old, it might have held water if it was just Michaels that received a "concussion", but now every match he's in, come on now. That RKO, Flair's head never even touched the ring.

JeffSexton -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/5/2007 11:51:26 AM)

They're probably setting up an Orton move to ECW. Problem with that is that he IS one of Raw's FEW Main Event level guys right now...

Well after next week that will be moot. I wonder if having so many guys out on injury leave, might have prompted the idea of this draft.

Yankee Nut -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/7/2007 11:32:04 PM)

Did anybody see Saturday Night Main Event? Cause the NBC Channel up here wasn't showing it.

Fwanger -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/8/2007 12:02:35 PM)

Trust me, you didn't miss much. Cena got tossed around like a rag doll by Khali; Kane, Eugene and some stupid Clown took on Kevin something or other (the vampire wannabe), Viscera and Umaga, meaning, Kane took on three wrestlers; Benoit and Batista took on Edge and MVP for probably the best match of the night; Boogeyman and his little buddy vs. Finlay and Hornswoggle. Basically, it was a waste of an hour. Saturday Night Live would have been better.

Thanks for the info. Looking forward to seeing what happens with the draft comeing up on Monday.

chemdude77 -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/10/2007 10:37:24 PM)

I am suffering from McMahon overload since May! Owner or not, Vince is getting too much camera time, IMO...[:'(]

Anyway..

Does anyone know the condition of Shawn Michaels? Triple H thinks he may need to retire after his latest concussion[&o]

Fwanger -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/11/2007 11:42:21 AM)

They still are going with the "doctor's are saying he's no better and no worse". A friend of mine and I have been discussing it, and we don't even think that Michaels has a concussion. Number one, his head and neck never even touched the announcers desk when he was slammed by Khali, and if he and the other two wrestler's were really deliberately kicked in the head until they had concussions, Orton would not be wrestling right now, he'd be either fined, or suspended. They put him on 60 day probation and fined him for talking to the diva's disrespectfully. What do you think would happen if he deliberately put three top draw wrestler's out of commission indefinetly?

The real reason Michaels is out, I've read, is that he had to have knee surgery. Whether he returns or not, they aren't saying. I'm betting though, if he could come back from major back surgery, he'll be back after whatever is wrong with him now.

LM1dog -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/11/2007 5:52:29 PM)

HBK did have knee surgery on May 23. Probably 2 months before he can put weight on it, then he can start rehad. Orton is getting the push right now to build him up for the HHH return.
I saw that King Booker might make his return tonight on raw.
The only person that I have heard anything about moving was Benoit to Raw, but it could be just a rumor.

There is a long list of stars that are supposed to comment on Mr. McMahon tonight. 24wrestling.com is the website that I saw all of this on.
Sometimes its right on and sometimes they miss by a mile.

Fwanger -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/11/2007 6:42:57 PM)

I saw the list on wwe.com also. The Hitman, Jesse "The Body", Superfly Jimmy Snuka, the Iron Sheik, Stone Cold, and a few celebs according to the list. Interestingly absent is Hulk Hogan. I guess things really are done between him and the WWE.

JeffSexton -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/11/2007 9:59:50 PM)

Draft results:

Khali, Torrie, Masters, Flair to Smackdown

Booker, LASHLEY, Snitsky, Kennedy to Raw

Benoit, Boogeyman to ECW

Will edit as more are announced.

Personally, the Booker move to Raw SUCKS! Raw is the only one I watch, in part because Booker WASN'T on it. LASHLEY coming over more than makes up for it though! Smackdown's hurting at this point as far as the draft goes, the other two are doing decent - I guess.

Supplemental Draft announced for noon Weds on wwe.com

Last question: The Limo exploding was OBVIOULSY faked ( as in Vince wasn't it it, clearly). Question is what possible story lines does it set up?

Comments?

chemdude77 -> RE: Professional Wrestling Thread (6/11/2007 11:32:19 PM)

Thanks for the update: I am glad this is not a concussion related layoff. Not that knee surgeries are a dream vacation...[8D]

Khali goes to Smackdown; makes Friday Night interesting.

I did not recognize Jesse Ventura during his brief appearance!

I did not recognize Jesse Ventura during his brief appearance!

No wonder! That rug he was wearing was the absolute pits! I've seen better looking hair on a homeless guy than what "The Body" had on last night! And the bags under his eyes? You could have packed for an around-the-world vacation with those things! Cheezy Pete, Jesse! If you're going to be on nationwide TV for a verbal mugging, I mean tribute, to Vinny Mac - at least look like you care ju-u-u-u-st a little bit about your personal grooming. You always did when you were on camera for WWF broadcasts, not to mention your stint as governor of Mini-soda.

I loved the look in Lashley's eyes when he told Coach that he was a champion, even without a title, and would prove it after coming to RAW. And the look of sheer terror on Edge's mug when Khali was announced as the first draft pick for Smackdown? Priceless!!! Batista was really happy when Ric Flair was chosen to come to Smackdown; it could be just the last piece of the puzzle for "The Animal" as he goes up against the "Jut-Jawed Porno Star" for the title.

And I'm like JeffSexton: Whatsupwidat exploding limo gag, Vince? Are you going to come back from your "near-death experience" a changed man, or will you just descend deeper into egotism and depravity?

Duane
