No.

As for scripture, St. John's simple and direct assertion that "God is love" is sufficient. And if we want to know how this love works we need only look at St. Paul's description of it in I Cor 13: It seeketh not its own,is not puffed up, endureth all things, believe all things, never faileth...etc. Not a lot of room for hate of any person in that description.

I would love to agree with UWS on this but I don't believe the blanket statement of God is love applies. God is not love alone and scripture does state that He God has hate for some...Esau for one.

But to answer your question BroBrian, I must first ask how do you define hate and how can anyone define God's version of hate?

Luk 14:26 If any [man] come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

Most all commentaries (and Christians I know) explain that this does not mean hate as we use it but in this context it is demonstrating the extreem to which we are to esteem Him in comparison to ourselves and family.

To me, Hate means you'd rather see someone dead than breathing. Is that God's definition? I'll not venture a guess because I've never seen scripture define it.

God hated Esau per scripture and Esau led a fair long and productive life...father of the Edomites if memory serves me correct.

Yet Ananias and Sapphira lied to the Holy Spirit (Acts 5:3) and died for it...

Sorry Bro', I can't in good conscience give an answer of yea or nay.

I think we need to be careful when using the word "hate", because a person needs to know the meaning in greek and hebrew. There are different meanings of the word hate. Maybe someone with greek and hebrew can assist on the meaning.

God hated Esau as you know.

God repented He made man and caused the flood that kill everyone except Noah and his family.
God told Moses He wanted to kill all the childred of Israel. He would start over with Moses. Thank God that Moses talked Him out of it and they had to wander in the wilderness for forty years. God also told the children of Israel to kill every man, woman, child and animal in many different places of the promise land because of the abominations those people did. To kill is to hate not love.

Jesus talking to the church of Ephesus in Revelations 2:6 "But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate."
And to the church of Pergamos in Revelations 2:15 "So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes, which thing I hate."

Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?-Malachi 2:17

How many people fit this:
These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. - Proverbs 6:16-19

Luke 19:11-27 is about Jesus going away and coming back...at the end of the parable Jesus is talking about himself saying "But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me."-Luke 19:27

It is important to know that we are created not the creator...God is LORD.
We were created for His pleasure and eternity is a long time! This life is just a vapour...what happens for eternity is on the LORD's terms.

Dear lesndesi,

The King James Bible was translated by 180 scholars of Greek and Hebrew to put in English for the common man to understand. They did a wonderful job for their king. If we need to go to get understanding we can go to the dictionary. Webster did a wonderful job of understanding English. If we still are not happy with these wonderful skilled people we can go to the Stong's concordance of Greek and Hebrew to find out they translated it in English right!
(In these last days knowledge has increased!)

hate in Hebrew is #8130: to hate (personally):-enemy, foe, (be) hate (-ful,-r), odious, x utterly
hate in Greek is #3404: (hatred); to detest (espec. to persecute);by extens. to love less:-hate (-ful)

The words of the definition of the Hebrew and Greek is in English. If you do not understand an English word the Webster dictionary will give you the meaning.

Proverbs 5:5 The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.

Malachi 1:3 And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.

Rom 9:13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.

Many other verses talk about how got hates the deeds of evil doers such as Proverbs 6:16. But not the above passages. These passages state very clearly that there are people that God hates. Trying to change the definition of hate does not change how God feels. If you try to redifine hate, you must also redifine love. Hate means exactly what it says, Hate. God is a balanced God. He hates as well as he loves. He gives mercy as well as he passes judgement. There is no denying that there are people that God hates. The problem is no one likes to admit that. People try to get God to confirm to their ideas of what they think he should be or what they want him to be. But to answer your question, yes, God hates.

That's a tough one. Does He love them for all eternity? Is there an answer in the Bible?

Psalm 5
4For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.

Ezekiel 18
23Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?

Ezekiel 33

2 Thessalonians 2

You know, I used to ask this kinds of question to anyone who would listen to me for a while. I am pleased to say I have matured a little bit and only bring it up when the situation is appropriate.
"Does God love the Devil?"

It's a simple question with a booger of an answer. If the answer is no, then God is not infinite love as we proclaim(which is a problem with 1st John 4). If the answer is yes, then God loves wickedness(which is a blunder the size of Manhattan). I think you really need to define what love and hatred are. God's love is a fire, the question is whether that fire will warm your heart or burn your house down. God flat out said in the Minor Prophets that he hated Israel's feasts and sacred assmblies because of their contempt for Him (Malachi drives this point home quite clearly). He also said that his hatred would burn against Edom forever. So I'm not really sure what the right answer here is. I know that God does not hate the way we do. Our hatred is an ungodly response to anger or hurt in our lives. Since God cannot be ungodly, then his "hatred" would not come from either of these two. Basically, the emotions of God are completely unlike ours, because our emotions are reactionary (or reflex, if you will) and God has no need to react to us (because he knew what was going to happen anyway). That's my thinking, anyway.

Perhaps for those who doubt God's Word.

Or those who question His choices.

Or those who feel it's not fair.

Or believe God is somehow obligated.

Or believe God MUST love all men



Sounds all warm and fuzzy though [;)]

Something to consider.......



Wiccans say they love everyone.

Good people say they love everyone.

Non-Christians say they love everyone.


Doesn't that in and of itself cause concern ?

But yeah, God's emotions are not reactionary, so good luck trying to define them. Our emotions are easy... you tell a joke, I'm happy; you slap me in the face, I get angry. God doesn't have to "react" to anything like we do, because nothing surprises Him. It's not like Adam sinned and God said "ooh... what now? I can't believe you did that , you stupid moron!" So until you can approach the idea of non-reactionary emotions that get expressed in connection with events, then we can actually progress on the topic.

In Luke 19 Jesus is telling a parable about the pounds. At the end he tells of the meaning of it. "For I say unto you, That unto ever one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.

But those mine enimies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me." -Luke 19:26-27

Jesus is going to see his enemies (those that would not let Jesus be their Lord) slayed before him.

Nowhere in scripture does it say that God loves everyone,that is a humanstic belief.The lie of God hating the sin and not the sinner is false.That comes from Ghandi and not the bible.

Clearly God hates some people.Who are these people?Those who do not walk in the narrow gate.

God loves rightroesness and because of that he must hate anything that is wicked.If I love children I must hate abortion,If I love jews I must hate the holocaust etc....The fact that God is love is the same reason why he hates those who are not saved.




His wrath is upon them every day,but in that he still graciously loves(not exactly the same as that of his children though) by enabling them to breathe the moment of sin and enabling them to enjoy the beauties of his creation.But ofcourse one day the wrath of God will be revealed to them in hell.

what do you mean how do I explain my langauge?

And it is clear that though we are all sinners,true believers are seen righteous by God through the atonement of Jesus Christ.

So if I may ask,do you disagree or agree with scripture when it clearly states that God hates sinners?

If you disagree with what scripture says then there is no point in argueing.
