reach -> RE: Interviewing (8/17/2007 3:54:54 PM)

I am doing another phone interview in 5 min. This is a temporary job. Not sure how long, but it is good to work rather than sit at home. And I have gotten all my regular jobs by working temp.

Mrs.Above_All -> RE: Interviewing (8/17/2007 8:27:04 PM)

Temp jobs are a good way to get your foot in the door of a good company.

Ok. So I have decided to accept the offer at the framing/art store as a Design Consultant! They are pretty excited about me coming abroad which is very nice. I didn't realize that the lower your base pay the better in terms of earning the right commission, especially if you are just starting out. I am not sure how that works but I will find out.

All of this has been an extremely humbling experience. I have learned about what employers out there generally think when it comes to the people they hire. The Masters can either work for you or against you in certain situations. And I realize that I am not the kind of person to be ultra concerned about having a "career". Finding something decent and generally likable is not the same as being career driven. Either way you have to do your best but the difference is in attitude and priority. Not everyone's calling is in their job, at least for a season. I know that now.

reach -> RE: Interviewing (8/25/2007 12:58:53 AM)

Well I had in interview today, and they are asking me for a second interview in a week from next. So that is great! I am excited! It is a good opportunity. So we will see what happens.

I am so crazy, I traveled home this morning, and then got home, took a shower and drove to the place for an interview, because next week they are closed and they wanted to make their decision this week, and I get a second interview. So I guess it was worth it! But I am starting to get tired.

_Cinderella_ -> RE: Interviewing (8/25/2007 1:02:47 AM)

No job for me still. I was offered a data entry job that had a crazy amount of overtime and turned it down. I don't really want a job that is 100% data entry. I am just really hoping unemployment won't cut me off, because it says that one should take any suitable job offered.

reach -> RE: Interviewing (8/25/2007 1:39:42 PM)

Well I would not tell them. It was not a suitable job.

Congrats on the job Above all! That is awesome!

I got a second interview for the first week in Sept from my interview yesterday. I really did not think I would get this, as I was quite tired. This is a good job, good company and close to home. All good things.

OK, new question I hate.

What are you looking for in your next job? I had like 3 people ask me that yesterday. I said good company, good boss and money. LOL!

Yes but if they find out I lied I could go to jail.

That is a good answer actually. Maybe I will start using that one.

reach -> RE: Interviewing (8/26/2007 9:06:29 PM)

The worst they would make you do is pay the money back, but really, when the EDD was at our work, they said you don't have to take any job offered, you only had to take suitable jobs, and if it is not a suitable job, then you don't have to take it.

reach -> RE: Interviewing (8/28/2007 12:27:52 AM)

I had an interview today and they aren't budgeted to pay as much as I want. They are going back and seeing if they can get more money.

I have some interviews with temp agencies this week, so hopefully I can get to work doing a temp job soon.

Well, unemployment is different in every state.

I called the unemployment office today and had to wait thirty minutes just for someone to answer my call. All the person said was that he filed a "ticket" and now I have to wait for a call from an adjudicator to determine my eligibility. Since I decided to register for part time college classes, my husband said to make sure I tell them that the job I turned down wouldn't have been flexible with my education.

~~~~~~~~~~
reach ~ hope your interview goes well.
I, too, and tempted to sign up with a few more temp/employment agencies and see if any of them can find me something.
dawntreader -> RE: Interviewing (8/28/2007 10:00:26 AM)
I had an interview yesterday that went pretty well, but I won't find out until next week if I get the second interview or not.
I'm in a bit of a different situation than you ladies too, because I already have a part-time job. It's just completely inadequate for when I have to start paying back my student loans in November!
reach -> RE: Interviewing (8/28/2007 5:03:17 PM)
It is different, because here we would love benefits when you start school if you were not avaiblable for work because of school.
I went to an agency this morning. I have 2 more agencies to sign up with. I sign up with a lot and see what work comes my way.
I had another interview today. I kept trying to convince them that I am not the person and they kept trying to figure out how I could work even with out the education. LOL!
I set up my 2nd interview for next Wednesday.
I also heard back on one that I went to and they liked me but they have to see if they can raise the budget for that position. This would also be temp to start. So no benefits until I am a regular employee.
reach -> RE: Interviewing (8/29/2007 10:09:36 PM)
OK, so I heard back and a no on the temp job. They are going to look for someone with less experience. Bummer.
_Cinderella_ -> RE: Interviewing (8/29/2007 11:47:28 PM)
that is kinda dumb.
reach -> RE: Interviewing (8/30/2007 12:59:16 AM)
Well less experience, less money. :)
_Cinderella_ -> RE: Interviewing (8/30/2007 1:19:17 AM)
I took your suggestion and signed up with three temp agencies last night. I went to one for the assessment tests today and I am going for another one tomorrow. The place I went to today gave me basic tests and I did really, really well on them, which made me feel good.
The place I went to today got me an interview for a temp-to-hire data entry job, but the interview is not til Tuesday the 4th.
The place I am going tomorrow says they have a receptionist job I would probably be qualified for and I could start on Friday.
reach -> RE: Interviewing (8/30/2007 1:20:21 PM)
Wow! That is fast! Awesome! It is nice to work and not be at home. At least for me it is. I am focusing on getting a temp job so I can make more than my unemployment.
reach -> RE: Interviewing (9/4/2007 12:39:20 PM)
I am still waiting on my interviews. I am going to call the agencies I signed up with and get them started on finding me something to do.
_Cinderella_ -> RE: Interviewing (9/4/2007 2:55:10 PM)
I have a temp to possibly hire interview today set up by an agency. The job is at a seafood company, lol. Can't say I ever pictures myself working at a seafood company.
reach -> RE: Interviewing (9/4/2007 7:10:52 PM)
Me either. I don't like seafood. LOL!
I had a responce today form one agency. It would be temp for 3 weeks. I need to work and get out of the house!
_Cinderella_ -> RE: Interviewing (9/5/2007 12:15:21 AM)
I hear you on getting out of the house. This weekend my husband just wanted to stay home and relax and I was so eager to get out and do something.
reach -> RE: Interviewing (9/5/2007 1:06:30 AM)
My husband had a 5 day weekend, and we spent it all together. That was different, as we are used to me only being off on the weekend. I love my husband, but I am ready for him to go back to work. :)
reach -> RE: Interviewing (9/5/2007 12:43:04 PM)
I guess I did not get the temp job. Bummer. I wish they would at least call.
I am on my way to my interview. Pray for me.
reach -> RE: Interviewing (9/5/2007 4:13:14 PM)
Just got back. It went well. She is going to make a decision by Friday. Very exciting.
_Cinderella_ -> RE: Interviewing (9/5/2007 8:53:26 PM)
It seems this thread has dropped down to just you and me. :)
I went to an interview today also. This place is interviewing until early Monday, so I guess I will hear back from both jobs Monday afternoon or so.
Do you think this sounds too cheesy for a follow up email after an interview?
Hi (person),
I just wanted to thank you again for taking the time to meet with me today. I am appreciative for the opportunity to be considered for the position at your company.
dawntreader -> RE: Interviewing (9/7/2007 8:29:18 AM)
I'm still here, sort of - I'm not really online all that much. But I had my interview and I didn't get the job, so now I'm thinking about going to a temp agency too. The problem seems to be that I don't have much experience - that old catch-22. I can't get experience because employers want to hire someone with experience. [&:]
It's very frustrating.
Also, I don't think your email sounds too cheesy.
