_Cinderella_ -> RE: Interviewing (1/30/2008 8:39:20 PM)

Today I applied for a position at a bank (and not Wells Fargo this time). Not sure if they will call me back or not. I am going to begin applying for things that look appealing.

reach -> RE: Interviewing (1/30/2008 10:20:41 PM)

I did two interviews today. That ends my interview marathon for the week. :) I had a really good interview this morning. I like the job, the company. It is a little commute, but that is good. She liked me and said my skills and personality matched the postion. But she did have one more person to meet. She wanted me to meet one person who does the job now, and then do a phone interview with another person I would do a lot of support work for.

So I am excited. They are moving to a new office soon, so it will be a shorter drive. Actually pretty close. Good benefits and good money! Who could ask for more?

I have some more people to call from messages today. It is crazy! I am starting to get burned out.

I will know more by the end of the week for most of the interviews.

I apply to any job that matches my qualifications. Some phone interviews screen out if it is not for me or not. But I like my resume to get into as many hands as possible.

reach -> RE: Interviewing (2/1/2008 3:08:11 PM)

I am still doing more interviews next week!

I passed the second interview yesterday and have the final on Monday! Whew! What a couple of weeks!

reach -> RE: Interviewing (2/6/2008 3:18:08 PM)

OK, I have a question.

I went on 5 interviews last week. One I heard back from and they are putting off hiring until the end of March beginning of April.
One I went on a 3rd interview on Monday and I am waiting to hear if I am getting an offer.

3 of them, I sent follow up emails to the recruiter asking if they had made a decision. I have not heard back. I just think it is bad form to not at least shoot me an email saying they chose someone else so I can move on from that opportunity. It has been a week since the interview, and I sent the follow up email yesterday. How long should I wait before sending another one? Or should I even send another one?

violetlight -> RE: Interviewing (2/6/2008 6:31:34 PM)

I am praying for job offers for you guys!

Reach, I had an experience like what you described, where the recruiter just blows you off. [:'(] Sadly, it does happen, for several reasons. It bugged me too that someone couldn't take the time to let me know I were no longer being considered, for whatever the reason is. I've worked with recruiters as well on the flip side of the coin and the ones that always follow up really stand out. You can send a follow up email, but if there is still no response, just move on. It says a lot when there is no follow-up. I don't care how busy you are, when someone is waiting to hear back you can take the time to make a quick call or shoot off a quick email. It makes the company looks so bad. [&:]

reach -> RE: Interviewing (2/6/2008 6:56:52 PM)

Thanks.

I have a new situation.....

I have been interviewing for jobs and temp jobs. I have gone on 3 interviews with one company. The 3rd interview was Monday. I think it went well, and I am thinking I will get an offer, but you can never be sure.

I was just offered a temp job starting Monday for 3-4 months. I normally would not be bothered about it, but I am covering a materinity leave, so if I leave before the person comes back because I find a job, then they would be out of luck. And I would feel bad. Should I take the position?

Also, should I call the company I interviewed with and tell them that I was offered this job, but I don't want to take it if I am being offered the other job?

Ugh! Too much stress.

peace77 -> RE: Interviewing (2/7/2008 10:00:07 PM)

I suggest being upfront with the temp agency. Let them know that you may be getting a job offer and you don't want to leave in the middle of an assignment. Therefore, they should offer the temp job to someone else. Let them know however, if they have not been able to fill the assignment by Friday, you are willing to take the assignment for as long as you can and to train your replacement.

I suggest not calling the company that you interviewed with. They cannot hurry their decision and it does not help you to pressure them.

Peace,
Anne

reach -> RE: Interviewing (2/7/2008 11:45:31 PM)

Well I called the companies I interviewed with. 2 I did not get the job. 2 they are still interviewing. So pretty much no. So I did the right thing by taking the temp job. I am sure it will be a road to get a job. But at least I will have something to do. I don't do well at home doing nothing.

If I get a job, I will give a 2 week notice and train the new person. It is the right thing to do.

I am a little depressed. I really felt God was going to open a door quickly. This is not the door I was looking for. But, you never know. I have gotten all my jobs through temp jobs. I could end up staying and getting the right amount of money in the end. I just have to be patient. And God is Good!

peace77 -> RE: Interviewing (2/8/2008 10:10:00 PM)

Reach,

Glad it worked out for you.

Peace,
Anne

reach -> RE: Interviewing (2/9/2008 1:18:41 AM)

Thanks.... I am still interviewing, but I am glad I took the temp job. It will keep me busy and only enhance my skills more.

I am really tired of this though. I was notified of my last layoff in March, so I was interviewing from March until Sept, then had 3 months off and I have to start over again. I am really angry about it right now. [:@]

reach -> RE: Interviewing (2/18/2008 7:56:16 PM)

My husband wants me to take a break from interviewing. But I am not sure what to do. I am kinda stuck at the temp job I am at, as the person is going on a pregnancy leave soon, and I would hate to leave when they don't have anyone there. She is not due back until June. That seems like a long time, but it really isn't. I will have to start looking again soon.

reach -> RE: Interviewing (5/2/2008 4:51:35 PM)

Well I took 3 months off and I am starting to send our resumes again. Man, the market has just stopped! Yikes!

Anyone else trying to find a job in this crazy market?

dawntreader -> RE: Interviewing (5/3/2008 11:21:00 AM)

Yep - I am job searching again. I've applied for seven jobs in the past two weeks and haven't heard back about any of them, but I'm about to take a break for my wedding and honeymoon. [:)] So I'll be job searching in full-force when everything settles down again.

reach -> RE: Interviewing (5/5/2008 11:11:47 AM)

I have an interview on Wed for a temp - perm job. They had advertised in Jan, then put off hiring until April. When she say that I was temping, she asked if I would be interested in doing a temp to perm job. Which is great with me.

I have another one on 5/14. It is a temp job for 5 months. Which is OK, as my husband and I want to go on vacation, and this will give me the chance to go on vacation. But I really don't want to be looking for a job during the holidays. :(

I have not been on the internet much this past week. I need to stay on top of that and send my resume out.

When are you getting married? Last Monday was my 1 year anniversary. :)

reach -> RE: Interviewing (5/7/2008 11:22:51 AM)

I have my interview today. I am trying to come up with some good follow up questions. Do you have any?

Mine are:

What do you need to be successful in this position?
What kind of manager are you?

reach -> RE: Interviewing (5/8/2008 11:32:00 AM)

Well the interview took less than 10 min. :(

I was all ready, and we were talking about the job and he said what I want to know is "are you mobile?"

basically he sees the position moving into other jobs in the next 12-18 months, and he wants to know if I am in a place in my life that I could move to another state to fill other positions. Ugh!

I am really getting frustrated. There are not even jobs on the net to apply to, let alone interview for.

The economy is so bad.

alias007 -> RE: Interviewing (5/14/2008 8:21:51 PM)

I'm currently in the interview process, too. Jobs definitely seem to be few and far between right now.
I've been on a couple of interviews in the past few months, but each time I've been passed over because I didn't have enough experience. Having recently graduated from law school, it's hard to compete with other candidates that have been working for several years as an attorney.
Definitely frustrating[:@]

reach -> RE: Interviewing (5/16/2008 6:48:00 PM)

Yeah, I know what you mean. I go home every night and look for new jobs posted. this week was the first week I have had multiple jobs to apply to.

Mostly I am trying to get in the door the temp - perm way.

It is a very hard market right now. I have never had to look for a job in this kind of market.

I had another interview on Wed, but I have not heard back. They were supposed to make their decision today. I am in the understanding that if I don't hear from them, then they are not interested. I still think that is rude. [:'(]

reach -> RE: Interviewing (5/23/2008 3:02:47 PM)

I had an interview this morning. It went very well, but they are interviewing a few more people, and will let me know next week if they want a second interview.

I did get and accept a temp job. It is a good company and it could go regular in 5 months. I am going to keep my eyes open for jobs I like. And this will keep my husband I going while I look.

How do you engage someone when they don't seem to have personality? I was really getting flustered this morning because the person was not connecting with me. The second person, I had no issues. Total connection and easy interview.

dawntreader -> RE: Interviewing (5/29/2008 12:57:40 PM)

Well, I'm back from my honeymoon and getting settled in and all that (we got married the 9th [:)]).
I have a pretty good lead on an inventory job for a cell phone company that I really hope pans out. I'm going to call them today to find out the status of my application.

alias, I know what you mean about not having experience - I'm a recent college grad and there's just a ton of competition out there.

reach -> RE: Interviewing (5/29/2008 6:29:48 PM)

Congrats on the wedding and honeymoon! I was married one year on April 28th. :) It is great!

reach -> RE: Interviewing (6/27/2008 6:58:29 PM)

How is everyone doing? I have a temp job until Oct. So I will start looking for work again in the beginning of Aug. I do need to get busy and update my resume.

reach -> RE: Interviewing (8/7/2008 2:52:02 PM)

Hello!

Well it is the beginning of Aug. :)

I asked my supervisor is this job will continue after Oct, and she said no, so I have to start looking now. Don't want to be looking for a job in Oct.

Anyone interviewing right now?

Anyone doing anything different?

ta_mosquito -> RE: Interviewing (8/7/2008 4:35:29 PM)

I had an interview two weeks ago. I thought it went well, but I didn't get the job. The lady is out of town this week (the decision was made the end of last week), so I did leave a voice mail message for her to thank her for the opportunity and to let her know that if the other person fell through, she can call me. [;)]

I get so few interviews, I don't know how to act afterwards - it's SOP in the States now to send a thank-you note (which I personally think is absurd), but I don't know if that's done here in Canada. I figured the phone call was appropriate.

reach -> RE: Interviewing (8/7/2008 7:52:51 PM)

I always send a thank you note after an interview. But usually via email.

I have been having the same problem. I go to an interview, it goes get, I go to 2nd interviews, they go great, then I don't get the job. I don't understand what the problem is. :(
