Yeah - I do not like game shows (and that is how I categorize the current crop of "reality" shows) but the dancers on this show are SOOOO GOOD and the judges are all pro choreographers so this show I really enjoy.

BTW, if you want to make the degree symbol: ° you can make it by holding down the <alt> key and then typing 2 4 8 on the numeric keypad and then releasing the <alt> key.

POST!!!

PS: I hear ya on scraping frost. Snow is much better.

Hehe, awesome ° ! Thanks for that. Dad went and put sheets on the car windows last night to stop them freezing up, but they fell off during the night - but luckily it didn't frost up overnight.

I started Guitar Hero III on hard last night - my percentage has dropped to an average of 80%/song but I'm getting there.

So it finally came! Excelent!

A lot of people here put covers over the car windows, especially if there will be freezing rain (the worst). Many use magnets all around to keep them from blowing off.

I grew up in an area where it got cold and stayed cold so we did not have the frost buildup except during the fall and spring. Here it is all "winter" long (they call it winter, more like late fall goes straight into mid spring).

Why do movie theaters conspire to ruin your fun by only showing the movies you've already seen?!?!

Went to leave church last night at 9pm and lo and behold there was ice on the windows! We had our coldest July morning in over 20 years - dropped to 1.7°C in the city - obviously lower than that in the hills (where I live) as it was -1° most of my way to work. When I got home from church I told dad about the frost and we put blankets on the cars - they stayed on much better than last time as there was already a nice layer of frost to hold it on.

Can't wait until summer POST

-1° in July.

On some of these days a quick trip to those temps would be mighty refreshing.

Take a trip to the desert...38°+ during the day 0°- at night.

I just hope we get enough rain to start breaking this drought or else we're in for another long summer (last years stretched from October - March)

Yeah, droughts are bad. We had one that had hung on year after year from about 1999 to last year. We were on and off water restrictions every summer. We even had a hurricane that came thru but did not break it. The reservoirs were all low, some almost dry, until June '07 when we had like 3 weeks of rain and all the roads flooded out. I think the total rain deficit of the previous years were all caught up and the dams were all filled up. We've been good since then.

Yeah, we're on pretty tight water restrictions during the summer. Pretty much everything died last summer. We were on fire bans from end of September (summer offically starts beginning December) until the end of April. At one point we had hurricanes & floods in one state and bushfires in another. Hopefully it's not like that this year.

Yep. Why must winter bring along so many illnesses - work's been flat out cos our receptionist was sick. Plus Jesse was off work for 2 days & another of my friends is on antibiotics & about 3 others have colds. I just hope I don't come down with anything.

Tonight we go see Molière's "The Imaginary Invalid" put on by the Shakespeare Theatre Company and starring René Auberjonois. I have really liked him for a long time.

The play was hilarious! Auberjonois lived up to his billing of "the man with a thousand faces." He made the show. My youngest daughter put this together and a few of her friends stuck her with some extra tickets (she was not happy at all) but she got us box seats near the front so we had an excelent view.

Did you get your new stereo going? Is it HD?

Next car stereo I get will have to be HD. My favorite jazz station went to oldies. Love the oldies but miss the jazz and they just started it back up on their HD channel 2.

Still not working. Jesse's still doing the speakers it's so hard to find some that fit. I was going to have the ones out of Jesse's car (cos he's putting in new ones) but they don't fit. So Jesse's going speaker shopping at lunch time today. Hopefully he'll have them in tonight and the actual head unit won't take long to put in. I haven't had my car since Saturday morning (it's been at Jesse's optimistically thinking he'll work on it if it's there). So Jesse has driven me to work the last 2 days.

Please be finished tonight POST!!

I like Billy Joel.

Sing us a song you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight....

You'll never guess my favorite song by him; it's one my wife is embarressed to play and the lyrics would probably be a TOS violation. (a guilty pleasure tune)

Did you get your car back YET???!!???

*sigh* no.

Jesse said he's going to finish it on Saturday. In the meantime I've saved an entire week's worth of petrol from getting him & his friend to drive me to and from work (there's actually 4 of us that work in the city but we normally travel down separately due to working hours)

So what's your favourite song by Billy Joel? Just post the title, I'll look it up myself. Piano Man is such a classic, it's one of my favourites.

When Piano Man came out, (I think it was his first release) a lot of people thought it was Elton John. They were not musicians and did not pick up the differences in playing style or the fact that Joel had a Brooklyn accent, not a London one like EJ. OUr DJs NEVER announced song titles or artists so there are tunes from 40 years ago that I am still finding out who sung them.

Back in the late 60s to about the mid 70s there was an underground network of radio stations (not licenced by the Federal Communications Commission) mostly low power and only in major cities, and the song I refer to (Captian Jack) was very popular on those pirate stations. The lyric content would not allow it to be played on air today, much less 1974 when it was released. I never heard it until I bought a "Best Of..." 2 disc compilation for my wife a couple of years ago. (like I said, a guilty pleasure tune)

Other Billy Joel tunes I like:

My Life
Uptown Girl
She's Always a Woman
Tell Her About it
Longest Time
Just the Way You Are
It's Still Rock & Roll to Me
