Amazon had an amazing sale on Super Paper Mario today. $30 versus the $50 retail. I snapped that one up shortly after it went on sale. Don't know when I'll get to play it (not with 3+ other games in my queue ahead of it) , but at least I know it's not going to get much cheaper than that anytime soon, not even if Nintendo actually starts making games Player's Choice titles for Wii.

My Wii was one of the estimated 3% that experience hardware failure. Not a big problem. Nintendo was pretty speedy in getting it replaced under warranty. The only problem I found was that the Miis I created were on new hardware, and wouldn't let me edit them anymore. I was rather frustrated, since data for Wii Sports (and I thought "Everybody Votes" as well) is linked to Miis, and I didn't like the idea of loosing anything, even trivial stuff. Then I saw on the internet that a Wii-mote connected to a PC via Bluetooth can be used to edit Mii data. So, last week, I finally got a Bluetooth adapter for my computer, and I managed to get it connected to my Wii-mote. I even transferred the Mii files and edited them on my computer. But when I transferred them back to my Wii, it didn't do what I wanted it to. I did get Miis that are exact copies, except my Wii recognizes them as created by me, but they didn't replace their older counterparts. Darn! Oh well, so I've lost whatever records I had in Wii Sports, and probably Wii Play as well. I'll live.

I would surely eat a tub of Ben & Jerry's if I were to lose my Wii Sports tennis record. That thing is quite literally off the chart.

oh mah goodness I FINALLY got to really spend some quality time with Lost Odyssey and it... is... awesome. I won't spoil anything, but Kaim Argonar is one of the best protagonists ever, in the character department. If you have a 360, get this game. If you don't have a 360, buy one and get this game.

Hmm... never heard of it. Is it new? I'll have to look into that. Not a big time gamer really but once in a while I find something I really like. I just got Chrono Trigger for PS1. My favorite game of all time (well, after LoZ: Link to the Past) :D I got tired of waiting for them to release it on the Wii virtual console.

LO just came out about a week ago. There are a few things that do grate on the nerves (random encounters and occasional polygon mishaps) but the overall package is nicely delivered. It has a definite Final Fantasy feel to it--- which is to be expected, since it was FF creator Sakaguchi who worked on it. If you like FF, you should definitely pick it up. If nothing else, it's four discs and will keep you entertained for a long while.

My little sister got an HDTV (32" LG, 720p-ish native resolution) to go along with her new Xbox360, but she's not going to be using the TV until she moves into her new place in a couple months, so she's letting me use it in the meantime. I'm trying to debate if I want to connect my Wii to it. Right now my Wii is connected to my 20" LCD computer monitor via S-video. It looks pretty good. There are some issues when my monitor doesn't de-interlace the image properly, but those are mostly rare, and not glaringly obvious. I'm wondering just how much better things could be if I go from 480i over S-video to 480p over Component. Does anyone have experience with both, or know of a gaming site that's done a comparison? Most of the comparisons I've heard of are between Composite (yellow cable) to Component (green, blue and red cables). I'm not surprised that there is a dramatic difference between those, the difference between Composite and S-video is pretty dramatic. Even if there is a big difference, I may just skip buying a cable for only a couple month's use, but I certainly don't want to buy a ~$30 cable only to find it doesn't look much different than what I've already got.

For me, SSBB is going to have to wait until it's a Player's Choice title, or maybe longer. Not only do I have too many other games in my queue ahead of it, but there is only so much twitch gaming I can handle. Smash Bros. is fun, but playing it can be draining for me. Not something I need right now. I'm enjoying Zack & Wiki, though. It's taking me a while to get accustomed to this different style of adventure gaming, but I'm mostly liking it. It's kinda like Capcom decided that they wanted to do an adventure game, but to still stick to their strength in arcade gaming. Not a mix I'd have thought to do, but it seems to be working... though I could do with a little less motion control. I was fine with LoZ:TP using motion controls for sword swings, because that freed up buttons for other things, but Z&W uses little remote flips when an A button press would be much better. The one thing I really don't like, so far, is the little music/rhythm mini-games with Bonelich von Skeleski. Argh! I don't have rhythm! Not to mention that there's not enough feedback on how the game is actually interpreting my Wii-mote flailing. When I failed the sustained notes, was I swinging too hard, or not hard enough? I had no idea, and I'm still not sure how I finally succeeded.

After waiting three or so months for its release, I have finally gotten my geekized hands on Super Smash Bros. Brawl. With such anticipation, I would be dishonest in saying that I didn't have mixed feelings on SSBB. Graphically speaking, its much improved since the prior instalment. Images and pixels are far more crispier than any other Wii game I've played thus far, possibly excluding Twilight Princess. It's appeasing visually, minus a glitch or two. Gameplay has this strange difference about it that significantly separates itself from Melee. I have yet to decide whether or not that's a good or bad thing. The rate of the game feels significantly faster paced, and the stages seem to be smaller. This contradicts the other when you have a character such as Fox or Sonic who relies on velocity, and with the stages be structurally smaller and the fast paced movesets, it's incredibly easy to find yourself in certain doom from a quick attack before you even realize it. Which brings me to the controls. At first, I extremely disliked them. Again, it was this strange difference that I was unsure about. Once getting used to it, it really isn't so bad. I certainly don't pwn at SSBB like I do in Melee. Though, if Sonic keeps showing promise, that might change.
