I hope he stays around for a bit longer, I remember seeing The Inspriations back in the 70's in Mount Vernon, Il they would sing at the high school there every year, Archie was always my favorite, but I know people can't keep traveling forever. But I wish him the best in what ever he does.

I heard at the NQC that Archie had an operation on his vocal cords and could only sing part time at present. However, there is speculation that he is winding it down.

I understand that he was in a bad car accident back in the early 1980s and almost retired then...good thing he reconsidered that decision!
Personally, I wouldn't blame him if he did retire...43+ years on the road is a long, exhausting (howbeit blessed) life! Archie and his wife own commercial and rental properties in the Smokies, and I expect he will retire and spend time seeing to his business...Troy Burns did the same, and he seems to be doing just fine.

Monday night at NQC Archie seemed to be having a rough time but being the trooper he is, he did the whole set. They did not have another tenor Monday night.

Daron was singing the lead with them Monday night (Matt Dibler was not with them). I don't know if that is a permanent change or not. Archie being the legend he is was a trooper and pulled through a rough set.
