The Canucks have been playing shakey hockey right now. Loseing to the Sharks on Opening Night 3-1. Beating the Flames 4-3 in overtime on Saturday. We lost 8-2 to Philly on Wednesday. And are winning 4-2 against the oil as I right this.

Glad Beaugard got 25 games for his hit on Kesler. Definetly was a cheep shot and was definetly uncalled for.

The Flyers apparently decided that with the exception of acquiring the talented yet undersized and questionably tough Daniel Briere, that they were going to spend the off season turning their team into the goon squad.

The worst thing is, Philly fans are thrilled with what's happening.

I agree with u completely on this. The Hockey News Is doing a issue on the Flyers Team being goons. I have to wonder though with two different incidents with the Flyers when is the team going to be fined for putting those players on the ice in the first place?.

Canucks Won 5-2 last night even though The Oilers played better except for their goaltending and are winning 4-1 with 3 minutes left in the game. Have to admit that I haven't watched much hockey so far this season cause the baseball playoffs are on.

Is there anything in the league rules that allows them to start fining teams? If anybody needs to be taught a lesson, it's the Flyers organization. For years, they've confused being goons with being like the Broad Street Bullies, but there's a difference between fighting and taking cheap shots. The Bullies teams that won two Cups knew how to play hockey, and they backed up what they did with their fists with the rest of their game. Somebody compared Bobby Clarke's stats from one of the two Cup years with Sidney's stats from last year, and Clarke's offensive stats were pretty darn close to the kid's numbers--dude could score goals just as well as he could fight. Now, they've got talentless goons taking off people's heads.

The lights went out on my Sharks, literally and figuratively! The Bruins scored with less than 38 seconds left.

Not a great weekend for Bay Area sports fans (Cal, Sharks, San Jose Spartans, Stanford, etc).

Been gone for the weekend... Caps are now 3 and 2... that's more like the Caps I remember......!!!, yet we're still 6th in the East!

Games on Thurs and Saturday... not looking forward to Saturday against Pittsburg. The media keeps playing up the competition between Sid and Ovie... and it's just silly (this includes our local media as well!)

I hate it when the Penguins or the Flyers come to town. I almost always tell dh that I'd rather just go to dinner and sell our tickets. It's not just the hockey... its the fans that come as well. I've offered my ticket this Sat to my dd1!

Nothing can compare to the buffaslug fans that invaded the RBC two seasons ago. The Raleigh area has a great deal of transplants so we have a good number of Pens and Flyer fans who show up for their games but most of the time they are well-behaved. I enjoy talking to the Bolts fans to see where they lived in the Tampa area.

Canucks and Kings start in about 10 minutes. Hope the Nucks can pull up their socks and play a solid game.

It was announced the other day that Vinny Lecavalier is giving $3 million dollars to All Children's Hospital in St. Pete for the construction of their new pediatric cancer and blood disorder center. They're going to be naming it after him and everything. That's kind of a big deal, even though most professional athletes have charity foundations, you don't usually see an athlete giving the kind of dollar figures big enough to get something named after them. I would have thought that it would be a bigger deal in the news, what with this being "Hockey Fights Cancer Month" and him donating that kind of money for a pediatric cancer center, but apparently ESPN only concerns themselves with athletes who get in trouble.

sigh.
Caps are now 3 and 4... and they looked like the Caps of old....

Hanlon needs to make some changes on our lines. We've got the talent, just not the chemistry, I guess.

In Case u didn't know My Canucks lost to the Kings. (No Offence to Kings Fans) but how do u lose to a team that has only two wins on the road. Also the kings played the night before.

The Canucks won this afternoon against the Blue Jackets so it is nice to see them win a game for a change. Hope they keep it up against the Huracanes tomarrio.

The Canes are going to be ticked about playing hard against the Pens and the Flyers only to lose in OT.

Well, the Lightning had a good game. A 6-2 victory is always good, even if it is over a joke of a team like the Trashers seem to be this year.

Pens win again! - and a shutout to boot. I really like the way Sydor is fitting in.

Now is Crosby's scoring can pick up.

The buffaslugs invade the RBC tonight along with their some of their fan base. Thankfully, it is a week-night game instead of a week-end one that way their most rabid fans will not be making the 12-hour trip.

This one is not in my mini-plan so I will be watching from home but still cheering "Death to the Buffaslugs."

Ugh, the Lightning need to figure out how to win on the road. At least Vinny proved that just because you were the leading goal scorer the previous year doesn't mean that you can't drop the gloves and beat the snot out of someone. Would have been nice if he didn't spend the whole rest of the period in the penalty box, but as far as team building goes, sometimes it's good for the manicured superstar (yes, Vinny even gave an interview where he talked about getting manicures and pedicures--for some reason, the one paper likes to write articles about stuff like that as well as players' haircuts) to step up and do his own fighting.

The Canes came on strong after two lackluster periods and salted the slugs by a 6-2 score. Now to see what they do against the Habs at the RBC Center on Friday night. Strange the schedule has them playing three times so early in the season.

Well, two fights in two days for Mr. Vincent Lecavalier. Since it was a Flyers game, it's not that big of a surprise. Flyers really are goons, first Hartnell got into it with Gratton, who really shouldn't be getting into it with anyone because he's already got an injured eye, then he crosschecks Vinny, which of course started a fight because you don't go doing that kind of thing to the other team's star. And, after that, apparently our defenseman one of our resident tough guys Shane O'Brien spent the rest of the night trying to get Hartnell to fight because of the incident but Hartnell refused. That's such a dirty rotten cowardly thing to do--pick a fight with one of the league superstars and then refuse to go when one of the enforcers tries to do his job. It's not that Vinny can't fight, he's pretty good at it actually (as Morissonn discovered last night), but one of the unwritten rules of hockey are that you don't do those kinds of things to someone of Lecavalier's stature. If you want to pick a fight, go fight the other team's enforcer, that's their role on the team.

This is out of control, some of these players seem to have lost all respect for the game and for the code. Team allegiances aside, when a Richard trophy winner, a guy that some people claim is the best player in hockey, gets into fights two nights in a row because of cheap shots, there's something that's messed up.

Nuckers played Washington last night and won. I watched a bit of the game but had to go out for a halloween party. Hope they play well against the Red Wings Tomarrio

Did anybody see the Penguins-Canadians game tonight? Montreal blew a three nothing lead and end up winning after eight rounds of shootouts.

Ok, the NHL seriously needs to put the smackdown on the Flyers. They're playing like a bunch of goons and it's not like they're playing tough, physical, but clean hockey, they're just dirty. And, this is why hockey needs fighting--I don't think it's a coincidence that the game against the Lightning where Vinny dropped the gloves early on and went at it over a cross check was also one of the cleaner games the Flyers have played this season. When even the superstar player is willing to drop the gloves over a dirty play, it sends a message that nobody on the team is going to put up with that junk.

Agree with you here. The Flyers are becomeing the Brod Street Bullies of the past.
