Erin, most babies very young eat every two hours or so, so you'll probably pump every two hours in the beginning. You can also do practice rounds at home while on maternity leave. Try pumping for a whole day while at home and see how things go, and if you and the baby are matching up. When you do go back to work you'll be able to tell how much the baby needs by what he/she does on your weekends. If you get engorged on the weekends, you can take it down a notch at work, or if you don't have enough, you can kick it up a notch at work. I worked three nights a week, and I was able to do it successfully as long as I was able to pump at work. It got to the point where I couldn't do it anymore because of scheduling and busy-ness, but if that doesn't happen to you and your always able to take your breaks, it should go well for you. And, as your baby gets older, she'll eat more in one sitting but less often, so then you'lll need to take less breaks in the day.
