Check out post #43 about African Queen not being black and white. [:)]

It's A Wonderful Life

I received the colorized version last year as a gift, but there's just something about it being in B&W that makes it better

Oh ya, it was Young Frankenstein.
Duh.
TV was my thing. Although I've seen a darn lot of movies, I don't remember them as well.

Another to add to the list:
The original Mighty Joe Young.

I also like The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. Natalie Wood is so young in that movie.

The Best Years of Our Lives
It's a Wonderful Life
Young Frankenstein (even though I was 2-3 when it was released!)

I would say I need to watch AMC more but most of their stuff looks pretty recent!

Kath -> RE: What is your favorite old time black and white movie? (12/26/2007 6:42:22 PM)

AMC has commercials. Fox Movie Classics (FMC) or Turner Classic Movies (TCM) has old movies too with no commercial interruptions.

The one I didn't mention, since I couldn't remember whether it's B&W or not is Kurosawa's interpretation of Macbeth, Throne of Blood. I love that movie.

Throne of Blood is definitely black and white.

Unlike The African Queen.

King Kong if I have to narrow it down to one.
Yojimbo, another Kurusawa film.
Intolerance
High Noon

What is your favorite old time black and white movie?

I love old black and white movies and haven't come up with a favorite. Some good ones are It's a Wonderful Life, The Bishop's Wife, The Shop Around the Corner and Pennies from Heaven.

I these ones below would be my favourites. I also love the old silent films, especially the comedies (Laurel and Hardy, Charlie Chaplan, etc).

It's A wondereful Life
The African Queen
Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte
Psycho

9drtr -> RE: What is your favorite old time black and white movie? (1/5/2008 9:52:45 PM)

I'm going to annoy some people now.

You've been warned.

Yes, The African Queen is a wonderful B&W movie. The fact that it was filmed in colour is entirely inconsequential. The African Queen is as good a B&W movie as Out of Africa or the Kenneth Branagh Henry V.

My favourite silent movie is Singing in the Rain.

The best Japanese movie ever is The Maltese Falcon.

My favourite comedy is Tunes of Glory.

Brilliant movie!

I used to watch it all the time when I saw it come on tv. I bought the DVD about 2 years ago and have only watched it once. I love the movie though.

It's a rainy day and I don't have to work, maybe I'll put it in.
