Another question regarding kegels...once you are back to pre pregnancy do you still have to do them to maintain that?

They're always good to do.

When I did kegels after a while it started to get harder to do them so I stopped doing them. At first I could do them and could stop the flow of urine but after doing them for a while (say maybe a few weeks) it got to the point where I had a really hard time squeezing the muscle and couldn't stop the flow anymore. After I'm healed from delivering Gideon I'm going to look up and see if there are other exercises that I can do for that area.

After I'm healed from delivering Gideon I'm going to look up and see if there are other exercises that I can do for that area. Julie The advice I was given on Kegels was only to do the "stop the flow of urine" at the start, to identify which muscles you used. Thereafter, I was told *not* to do it at that time, that the quick jerk in wasn't the best way to exercise them, especially as the urine. and the natural urgency to pee, would place a strain on the muscles, but that it was better to just do the basic exercise (and more slowly than when you draw it up to stop urine) at other times. quote:
You can exercise almost anywhere and any time--while driving in a car, at your desk or watching TV. To exercise these muscles, just pull in or "squeeze" your pelvic muscles slowly and hold. Hold this squeeze for about 10 seconds, then rest for 10 seconds. Do 3 to 4 sets of 10 contractions per day.

Thanks Manda. I read that somewhere after I had problems with it but I still seem to have no luck actually strengthening them. Could be because I've been pregnant 3 times in 5 years??? Maybe I need to give myself a break. Big question - has anybody had to use glycerin suppositories? I'm wondering what I can expect if I break down and use one later. I've tried everything else from fiber to dulcolax with no luck. Signed, Mama Hasn't Pooped Since Wednesday

Shoot, I should have used them when I was PP and having those issues. I'll have to buy some for next time around...

Thanks, Rachel! I picked up a bottle of the capsules on my way home from the chiropractor. I hope a combo of the two will get me right as rain soon. :)
