A website is not a separate ministry or a new program, it's just a tool that makes an organization more effective at what they are already doing. And that's how you justify how much time, effort, and money to put into it. To paraphrase Paul in Romans 12, if your church's gift is serving, do that; if it is teaching, do that; because we are all members of one body. Your church website can't be all things to all people. Do what you do well, and trust Christ to use other members of the larger body to fill in the gaps in other areas.
