Ha ha--no, I went to bed and listened to the thunder while I fell asleep. We might get storms again today. My flowers are grateful. (I do plan on running tonight if it's clear--temps are topping out at 85!!! Woohoo!!!)

It's still well below average for temps around here. In the mountains, they are actually expecting a foot of snow today... We're not that cold, but where is summer?

I had a horrid time crawling out of bed this morning. By the time I did, I knew I wouldn't have time for a long run, so I did a 1.5 mile run at a little faster pace. I also was able to do "normal" pushups today although I felt every last muscle since I haven't been able to do them in over a week...

I did a sprint triathlon over the weekend. Finished a disappointing 4th in my age group. I got sucked into the fast group in the swim and we ended up off course. We lost a lot of time there. I had a great bike and run, but wasn't able to make up enough time.

That's awesome! I doubt I'll ever be fourth in any event, so I'm really impressed.

I could probably finish fourth in an event . . . if there were only four entrants!

I wasn't able to run on Saturday morning, or at all, for that matter. Everything kinda piled in on me, so I pushed it off until Sunday. And I didn't do this one on the track; I decided to stay close to the house and run through the cemetery. I never kept track of my mileage, even though I have a route worked out that is a shade over .8 of a mile. I pretty much ran which ever way I felt like it and concentrated on staying moving for more than 30 minutes. There was a bit of a breeze on top of the knoll that helped take the edge off the heat and humidity, so I didn't feel quite so fatigued as I did on Thursday.

Tonight's workout is scheduled to be a 3-miler, but that's only if the thunderstorms stay away. If we get some this afternoon and it clears off, then it should feel pretty good outside. Gotta go, y'all!

I had a good run last evening. It was so cool and nice. And I've gone from a 14:21 pace to an 11:42 pace in a little over a month. I'd like to be at 10:00 by mid-July, but I'm beginning to think the heat is really hindering me. My best times are when it's cooler and I really don't see many more cool days this summer.

I hate running in the heat. It really does seem to sap up all your energy.

We're not having that trouble today though. It's chilly. It's windy. It's rainy. It's pretty much downright miserable around here and when I heard the wind howling this morning I decided that my run could wait...

Nothing--NOTHING--puts me in a bad mood faster than to hear the wind blowing as I wake up in the morning.

The only thing worse is waking up to a thunder and lightning storm because then you REALLY know you can't run...

The wind has finally stopped though and the forecast is looking good, so I'm looking forward to a good run tomorrow...

I had a pretty good 3 miler last night. Did begin to die out at about 2.5 miles in - my afternoon Activia yogurt was wearing off. I knew that I should have eaten it on the way home instead of before 3 in the afternoon. Getting off at 4:00, then driving home and not running until 6:00 without any real food in me left me kinda "whisperin' in the wind." But I finished the distance, which is all that really matters.

Here's a slightly funny note about my training schedule: As I was looking it over on my off PC yesterday morning, I noticed that there was something odd-looking about it. Finally, it hit me - there was an entire week missing! It had this week on it, then it skipped to the week of the 23rd, which left me hanging on what to do. I inserted another row to the graph, then duplicated the info from this week. When I showed Matt, he told me that this week should be the peak training week, and that I should back off 1/4 mile each week until the 5K. And on Tuesday before the race, I'm to only run 2 miles. That's to make sure that I'm fresh for that night. I hope that we don't have anymore storms between now and then, because I only want outdoor workouts to prepare with - not treadmill mileage. KWIM?

Sounds like you are doing well Duane! Keep at it! It really amazes me how far I have come by just being consistant and getting out there - even when I'm not in the mood!

Like this morning... But, I ran a fairly good pace for 3 miles (28:01) and I feel great.

Not a problem!

I had an even harder time crawling out of bed this morning but I finally got up and ran 2 miles. I skipped my other workout stuff but since I worked out hard yesterday, I figured that was ok...

I think our temps have dropped enough for a comfortable run this evening.

We're going out of town this weekend for a family reunion with a bunch of people I've never met before. (Only married a year.) I think I'd like to take my running shoes because I know I'll need to get away and regroup, but is that rude? Do you run when you go out of town? Is there something to say to not ruffle feathers?

I don't think it's rude at all. I don't go out of town much, but I bring my running stuff when I do because I don't want to go too long between runs. People know that I love my runs, so it would be no big deal to take a few minutes out of the day to get my heart pumping and lung burning.

Yeah, I need to check the schedule. It's a golf tournament followed by a poker tournament. I don't play golf or poker. Of course, running will depend on temperatures as well. It's cooled off here today despite what the weather guys said and the reunion is a couple of hours away...who knows what it will be like Saturday or Sunday?

Around here it should be nice but I don't think that will help you!

Take your running stuff!!! When my Grandpa died, I took my running stuff. I had gotten the call earlier in the day that he wasn't doing well, so I packed my bags--one every day stuff, the other my gym bag. Every morning while I was up there, I'd go for a run early in the morning. When I go to visit Grandma, I always take my stuff, and run early in the day.

I did a bike/run workout this mornig. My son is getting quite good on the bike and I'm having to work to stay with him! Outbound, we averaged 18mph. I run further than he did, though!

Doesn't he know he's not supposed to beat his mom?

I'll take my running stuff and let my husband explain to his family that I'm going running. How about that?

It was really hot and humid yesterday, but then it cooled down and got a bit cloudy. That had me concerned that a T-storm might blow through the area, so I just went to the local "Y" and ran for 30 minutes on the treadmill. I know it's not perfect, but the time was important for me. I stopped at 15:00 long enough to hop off for a drink at the fountain, then it was right back on for the remainder of the time. That point right there was enough to encourage me as I move towards the race in less than 3 weeks.

Sounds like a great plan Stellaluna!

I don't know if it's allergies or what, but the past week or so has been next to impossible to crawl out of bed in the mornings... I just couldn't do it again this morning. I went to bed at a decent time but I'm just beat... So no run today...

I haven't run much at all this week. In total, it's only been 12 miles since Monday and I don't know if I'll run today. My knees are hurting from increasing my speed. Since I started running again two months ago, I've gone from 15 min mile to 10.50 min mile. My goal is to bring it down to my pre-injury speed of under 8 min mile, but I think my age (almost 40) is starting to affect me. I'm no spring chicken anymore, lol. Now, I feel some aches and pains in only a few miles, whereas I used to do 50 miles a week and not feel a thing.

It's raining and cold today. If I run, it'd be in the clubhouse, on the treadmill.

However, I'm getting more and more into climbing and yoga (perfect combination). I hope to continue running to keep in shape for these activities.

Listen to those knees! They'll let you know when you need to slow down. I'm only 33, but even then I could most certainly tell the different between trying to get into shape as a teen and trying to get into shape in your 30s. I'm there now - and in better shape than I've ever been in my life - but it did take a lot longer.

I'm hoping to go for a 3 mile run today but I'm having a hard time getting motivated. This was my one morning to sleep in a bit, but of course, this was the one night that I tossed and turned...

My neighbors wake me up every saturday morning., around 6 am. I am ready to wear earplugs to bed. LOL Before that it was the cat but she hasn't done it lately.

I haven't worked out much this week, but am going to get back in the habit today or tomorrow.
