I just ran the slowest four miles ever! I went out to run and was trying to go sloooooow and keep my heart rate in my target zone, etc. I finished and checked my watch and I had been running for 58:00!!! That's like at 14-something pace. lol I was just enjoying myself and got carried away, I guess. The amazing thing is that I RAN THE ENTIRE TIME...never stopped once! Just a slow steady pace for that whole time. What a goober.

I have days like that! It does feel good to keep going though even if it's a slow pace!

Today was my day off. The challenge will be getting my rear out of bed tomorrow morning. I've been so sleepy...

I don't run much faster than that most days! I don't know why. Going to work on that with my garmin. But it does feel good to be able to keep going, not all out and die like most at the gym.

There is a training method of low heart rate training too.. i subsribed to a thread somewhere.. think it was on runningahead.com

Exactly! I started out slow because my legs were still a little sore from pounding on Saturday. I guess it felt so good to go slow my body just kept it up, because I really wasn't paying attention. I was running a new route, so I was just paying attention to wear I was going and I didn't know where my mile markers were or anything...I was basically just puttering along. I felt really refreshed afterwards, too.

Tonight was the first walk/run in our 5k training program. (A journey of a thousand miles... ) I've run races in years past, DH is a beginning runner, and we're aiming to be ready for a turkey trot come Thanksgiving.

Very cool! I'm trying to decide which race to do next. There are several in the same time frame for some reason in October.

Go HPD!!!

There are a bunch of races coming up here in the next two months and they're all 5Ks. I will probably just pick a couple that sound fun and run those. One of my friends helps organize one of them, so I'm sure I'll do that one and then pick one more.

Welcome p31! Yep, it starts one step at a time.

Here I am, less than 3 weeks from my marathon and I think I'm injured! Sunday I wsa trying to keep my dog from eating something I dropped. I ended up kicking him in the head. I caught him with the inside of my left ankle. It was fine Sunday, but yesterday and today when I ran on it, I could certainly feel it. Uh oh...

That said, I had a great ride this morning. It was fun riding through a school zone, keeping pace with traffic! Then, I did a 3mile run. I felt like I was slogging, but I actually managed a 8:53pace. I'll take it!

Uh oh! Ice...it's all about the ice. Your dog must have a hard head.

My dog has a hard head. The other weekend, my family was playing Wii bowling and I didn't realize she got in beside me and WHACK!

Praying you are ok though HC! Hopefully it's nothing more than a simple bruise that will go away quickly.

I ran 2 miles this morning. There is an older gentleman who walks his dog around the time I run. The dog is starting to annoy me. Everytime I pass them (I run a 1/2 mile + loop in my development) this dog start growling and snarling and lunging at me. He does a good job of holding her back but it's kind of unnerving. I'm hoping now that it's getting darker when I run, he can walk her later. I can't really change the time of my runs and when it's dark, I don't feel comfortable running outside my development.

You are so negative...I know someone else like that. (And you know him, too! )

Now, you told your lovely wife that you would run that Turkey Trot 5K, so you have to follow through. I suspect by the time you're trained up for that, you'll want to keep running. I'll bet you five bucks.

Whats this? Am not. I'm quite positive I feel my mortality 1 minute into a run.

Well, I aim to do it, even if it kills me. Which it likely will. Don't forget to send the widow a corsage.

If it helps, I didn't like running until I had been doing it for about a year. Now I'm obsessed...

So, now I know enough to quit in less than 10 mos.

But you won't regret it if you keep going! You'll feel great and have more energy and be able to eat more junk. It's a win-win!

Good Luck on the turkey trot!. I have lost my mind, I went to the "mizuno shoe truck" and waited over an hour to get the fitting done.. they felt good and will be next shoes. But it was in the cold and rain! LOL. Oh I got a free long sleeve tech shirt too, so that wasn't bad.

So I might join the shoe stores running club since i haven't heard from the gym one..

And here are some for Duane. We'll never have to look for his bib number in pictures again.

First of all, Stella, congrats on your great time! That's absolutely sanfrantastic!! Now, as to your suggestion for my running tights? Are you kidding me?! If I were to wear those tights, at my size, people would run from the course screaming, "Run for your lives!!! There's a comet coming down the street!!! HEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!

Just kidding, Stella! Actually, my size is dropping - I've lost 93 pounds as of this week! That's a huge mile stone in my life, but I've still got another 72 pounds to go before I'm at Goal. But I'm getting there one step at a time (Pun intended!).

Sorry for being away for so long, gang, but I've had quite a roller coaster lately with my father-in-law's health. And my Mom just found out that she needs a breast biopsy on Oct. 16th. There's a suspicious mass in her left breast, but the surgeon (whom we've known for nearly 30 years) told me that because the mass moves (in other words, it's not attached to the inner wall), that is cause for some optimism.

My running right now is more for maintenance, not training, although I need to ramp it up if I'm going to do that Half-marathon relay in November. And I still haven't gotten my new shoes, which is something that I really need to do ASAP if I'm to have them broken in for the race.

Gotta go!

Duane

93 pounds???? That's incredible! I think I speak for all of us when I say we are proud of you!

We have another gentleman who has joined us, but he is less than enthusiastic, so we'll depend on you to motivate him. I'm going to go find him some tights...

And Duane, sorry to hear about family health problems! I'll be praying!

Giggles--I've never been part of a running group. What are those groups like you're trying to join?

Aw...did you get scared? If it makes you feel any better, I've never actually seen anyone run in those tights. Ha ha!
