Out here in the West we call those vertical holders "toilet plungers".

When I was younger, all of my aunts would knit covers for the extra roll of TP.

Does anyone still do that?

I buy the mega-rolls, so I'll just use the tire covers like they use for the spare tires on Jeeps.

Gary suggested earlier that I "mount a vertical holder", but I didn't like the sound of that.

my kids took the thing my grandma knit to put over the roll and used it as a hat. I probably have a picture somewhere...

Those things did look like a fancy stocking cap.

Sure! How else to keep tp from getting cold and feeling uncared for? Maybe this is the answer for the roll with no will to live.

The vertical holder is brilliant. I applauded softly (and to myself).

How about giving the roll a small teddy bear or other comforting toy that it can snuggle up to in a nice warm bed made from a shoebox lined with flannel cloth, a fluffy small pillow and a nice warm quilt. That should keep it warm and feel cared for. Maybe a little soft music to lull it to sleep wouldn't hurt either.

You and my husband are soul mates atleast in the TP world. He hates Charmin, and insist I buy Scott only. Hey I am like what ever does the job excluding newspaper and corncobs, and the sears cataloge (sp)

Use Scott toilet paper like God intended.

It's when you get into that fancy pagan stuff that trouble starts, as you have already discovered.

I would get all of that Charmin stuff out of my house immediately!

Well, my peice of advice......when you bring it home don't take it right into the bathroom........yet. You don't want it to know what it's end is going to be. Take a lesson from the cow farmers: they keep those dear cows in a nice pasture with all the grass they can eat, all the room to roam and play, other cow friends, then oneday, a big truck comes and........BAM! it's all over! I suggest you keep it in a pretty closet that has nice things and a fresh smell, then only when you need it, take it to the bathroom. After all, if you saw all your buddies go *that way*, would you still have the will to live????

Just when I was beginning to feel comfortable, it happened again.

I entered the office and noticed a faint smell of smoke in the air (brimstone?) and heard the dreaded sound of a spinning TP holder. There it was - half a Mega Roll of Charmin piled in the floor.

Is there no end to this?

LOL .... is your TP roller near an open window by any chance?? My cats don't unroll my TP -- Mother Nature does!!!

And my aunt STILL makes TP covers for ALL the rolls (including the 'in use' one ... don't ask!)

That's usually where toilet paper is most useful.

Last winter, my pet spider kept the restroom free of insects.

I guess it's too much to hope that he survived until this year.
