ORIGINAL: growingseed Jesus teaches that those who eat his flesh and drink his blood shall have eternal life. And he also tells us that we are to eat his daily bread, those who go to church to be fed are usually starving. John 6:52 Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” John 6:53 Jesus said to them, “I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Jesus undoubtedly was referring to the Holy Spirit. The Spirit imparts life to the believer; it is not transmitted by the process of physical eating. Jesus was saddened by the dullness of some of his disciples that prevented their believing in the sense that they did not appropriate him. Jesus would have not told them to do something that was against what God has said not to do, in fact; driving them away. Leviticus 3:17 “‘This is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live: You must not eat any fat or any blood.’” Leviticus 17:12 Therefore I say to the Israelites, “None of you may eat blood, nor may an alien living among you eat blood.” alien - was anyone other than an Israelite. Leviticus 19:26 “‘Do not eat any meat with the blood still in it. “‘Do not practice divination or sorcery. Deuteronomy 12:16 But you must not eat the blood; pour it out on the ground like water. Deuteronomy 12:23 But be sure you do not eat the blood, because the blood is the life, and you must not eat the life with the meat. Deuteronomy 12:24 You must not eat the blood; pour it out on the ground like water. John 6:63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. Jesus words in John 6:53 were symbolic - God would not go against Himself. TGIF RBKay
