I use astericks to emphasize a word more heavily than a bold would. Interstingly, in MS Word, when I do that, it bolds the stuff inside the astericks.
And...look...suddenly I'm back with proper capitalization. LOL.

Don't you just hate on the entertainment shows they are always saying, "It's what everybody's talking about." Well, I'm not talking about it & my friends aren't talking about it. Aren't we part of everybody?
Who's the idiot responsible for changing the placement of commas? He should be taken outside & shot! I went to a business writing class one time & even the teacher in there can't deal w/ it either. A lot of school teachers haven't made the change. This new way completely defies everything we learned in school. It even makes Conjunction Junction invalid! Hey, that's just plain wrong!
I do like "forever" w/ the emphasis on on the "r", just like in Sandlot! Use that also in saying "whatever".
But, I am tired of my 13 year old niece talking to me in abbreviations. I am not texting her, I'm having a conversation w/ her. Totally unnecessary! kd

The one I really hate is "youse" used as the pural of you as in Do youse guys want gravey on your fries? Maybe it's a regional thing but it grates on my nerves.

"out of my comfort zone" - overused
"purpose driven" I'm beginning to think "purpose" is a kind of car.
think "outside the box" which box?
"get down and get our hands dirty" used to describe most any kind of ministry outside the church building.
"sold out for Jesus" uh, who sold you?
"have faith" used as a synonym for "be optimistic" (as oposed to meaning "trust God")
"liberal" or "conservative" used as vague perjoratives

Ughh....
The phrases "sold out for Jesus" and "on fire for God" are SO on my resentments list! <eye roll>

I thought of an overused phrase today when I used it:
"all about"- as in, into a trend... I don't like to be hot; I'm all about the windy Spring days.

Yeah alliteration bugs me, too. Some of the stretches they end up making to try and make all the points begin with the same letter are amazing! Sometimes they are just corny. It's one thing if it all fits together well, but most of the time they are a real stretch.

My pet peeve is when someone holds a position on something and then decides "to do a 360" (switch to the opposite side). That should be "a 180". A 360 would put you right back where you started. I just heard this on TV today. I couldn't believe it.

These drive me crazy, too! Also, when professionals mispronounce 'temperature' and 'nuclear.' Temperature has 4 syllables and even our meteorologists shorten it to "temperchur". Don't even get me started on "nucular"! Even our president hasn't learned to say it correctly! Drives me batty!

Most probably don't anymore, but this is not where I grew up or went to school. Growing up, I remember the teachers, including my dad, who had been an English teacher, emphasizing that it had 4 syllables and all were to be pronounced properly. I didn't go to some uppity, high-class school, just a public school in southern Indiana, but proper pronunciation was a must. I think they didn't want us to seem like southern 'hicks' when we were out in the rest of the world! I have carried that on to my boys, though. In our schooling, we work on correct pronunciation and grammar, even though most others here don't seem to care about that anymore. Thanks to dear old dad, I guess!

Way ot, but, this reminds me of my dear, dear grandpa. He used to pronounce it, "temp-a-too-ur"! I miss him....
