Joy, you definitely have a point! Great parallel...... I think pride is the issue with many Christians. Not willing to completely let go of the reigns, and hand them over to God. Hmmmmm ........ just thinking through my fingertips here ....... could this be why so many Christians who are so totally devoted to our Father can say that they hit *rock bottom*? My complete reliance on Him didn't happen until I had to walk away from everything I knew, everything I had ....... started fresh from scratch, with nothing. Nothing. If that isn't a humbling experience, I don't know what is. To go from a life where I made great $$, lived in a nice place, bought a new car ever year or so, had all the material things ....... to no job, living with family, being in *hiding* simply to survive, no possessions. When I finally could go back to work, get a place for me and the munchkin, struggling to make ends meet, days when I would call in to work because I didn't have enough gas to get to work and no $ until payday to fill the tank, crying because all I could afford was $1 peanut butter and $1 bread, lucky if I had enough to get the $1 jelly. I learned to rely on Him to get me through ...... He showed me there was always a way, He showed me that I had to set my pride down and ask for help when I needed it. It was a really difficult lesson. The blessing I received was a deep understanding of what it is to be compassionate. The pay-off for my difficulties was well worth it! God is amazing, and He never ever ceases to amaze me!! [:)] I seem to say that a lot, but it's soooooooo true!!
