You got that right Ed. I. Must. Have. The. Last. Word. Oh my gosh, do you have any idea how difficult it is for me to not go there with the sarcasm?!?! I have a friend I talk to pretty regularly, who pointed out to me that I apparently have a little issue with my attitude on Wednesdays. I hadn't thought about it until just now, and guess what? It's Wednesday. du du du dummmmmmm I already posted about the weather in Joy's thread. Before all the sex talk. Wow, girly, that's a deep issue. (Uh, no pun intended. Um, should I take that comment out? Shifting eyes looking around nervously, waiting to receive a PM from a mod telling me to delete the comment) (I told you .... it's Wednesday. I guess he was right. Dang it.) Alrighty then! New subject!! I have a coworker who lives on a nice chunk of property. They have chickens. They are very happy chickens right now. There are lots and lots of eggs being laid. Some of them are white, some are brown, some are even green. I know! It's really cool!! And, yes, the shells are green all the way through. No colored Easter eggs coming out of those chickens. Hey, I'm a city girl. This kind of stuff is exciting to me. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, she and her husband do not eat eggs any longer, and all the kids are out of the house now. So she has a few dozen eggs that need to be distributed on a weekly basis. I am one of the lucky ones who gets farm fresh eggs. I have other coworkers who have fruit trees. So we've had a supply or fresh picked oranges. My dad also has tangelos and kumquats. Someone else has lemons. My brother has a nice little garden. Know what? I love a good steak. On the BBQ! Perhaps I should befriend someone who owns cattle......

Reflections of a Sunday School teacher: *LOT'S WIFE* The Sunday School teacher was describing how Lot's wife looked back and turned into a pillar of salt, when little Jason interrupted, 'My Mommy looked back once while she was driving,' he announced triumphantly, 'and she turned into a telephone pole!' *GOOD SAMARITAN* A Sunday school teacher was telling her class the story of the Good Samaritan. She asked the class, 'If you saw a person lying on the roadside, all wounded and bleeding, what would you do?' A thoughtful little girl broke the hushed silence, 'I think I'd throw up.' *DID NOAH FISH?* A Sunday school teacher asked, 'Johnny, do you think Noah did a lot of fishing when he was on the Ark?' 'No,' replied Johnny. 'How could he, with just two worms?' *HIGHER POWER* A Sunday school teacher said to her children, 'We have been learning how powerful kings and queens were in Bible times. But, there is a Higher Power. Can anybody tell me what it is?' One child blurted out, 'Aces!' *MOSES AND THE RED SEA* Nine-year-old Joey was asked by his mother what he had learned in Sunday School. 'Well, Mom, our teacher told us how God sent Moses behind enemy lines on a rescue mission to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. When he got to the Red Sea , he had his army build a pontoon bridge and all the people walked across safely. Then he radioed headquarters for reinforcements. They sent bombers to blow up the bridge and all the Israelites were saved.' 'Now, Joey, is that really what your teacher taught you?' his mother asked 'Well, no, Mom. But, if I told it the way the teacher did, you'd never believe it! *THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD* A Sunday School teacher decided to have her young class memorize one of the most quoted passages in the Bible - Psalm 23. She gave the youngsters a month to learn the chapter. Little Ricky was excited about the task - but he just couldn't remember the Psalm. After much practice, he could barely get past the first line. On the day that the kids were scheduled to recite Psalm 23 in front of the congregation, Ricky was so nervous. When it was his turn, he stepped up to the microphone and said proudly, 'The Lord is my Shepherd, and that's all I need to know.' *UNANSWERED PRAYER* The preacher's 5-year-old daughter noticed that her father always paused and bowed his head for a moment before starting his sermon. One day, she asked him why. 'Well, Honey,' he began, proud that his daughter was so observant of his messages. 'I'm asking the Lord to help me preach a good sermon.' 'How come He doesn't answer it?' she asked. *BEING THANKFUL* A Rabbi said to a precocious six-year-old boy, 'So your mother says your prayers for you each night? That's very commendable. What does she say?' The little boy replied, 'Thank God he's in bed!' *UNTIMELY ANSWERED PRAYER* During the minister's prayer one Sunday, there was a loud whistle from one of the back pews. Tommy's mother was horrified. She pinched him into silence and, after church, asked, 'Tommy, whatever made you do such a thing?' Tommy answered, soberly, 'I asked God to teach me to whistle, and He did!' *TIME TO PRAY* A pastor asked a little boy if he said his prayers every night. 'Yes, sir,' the boy replied. 'And, do you always say them in the morning, too?' the pastor asked. 'No sir,' the boy replied. 'I ain't scared in the daytime.' *ALL MEN / ALL GIRLS* When my daughter, Kelli, said her bedtime prayers, she would bless every family member, every friend, and every animal (current and past). For several weeks, after we had finished the nightly prayer, Kelli would say, 'And all girls.' This soon became part of her nightly routine, to include this closing. My curiosity got the best of me and I asked her, 'Kelli, why do you always add the part about all girls?' Her response, 'Because everybody always finish their prayers by saying 'All Men'!' *SAY A PRAYER* Little Johnny and his family were having Sunday dinner at his grandmother's house. Everyone was seated around the table as the food was being served. When Little Johnny received his plate, he started eating right away. 'Johnny! Please wait until we say our prayer.' said his mother. 'I don't need to,' the boy replied. 'Of course, you do,' his mother insisted. 'We always say a prayer before eating at our house.' 'That's at our house,' Johnny explained. 'But this is Grandma's house and she knows how to cook!'

Doing a little reading this morning. I'm wondering where we all place ourselves: Is our life in a stage of uselessness: has our life been broken, and we are frozen in a place in time - perhaps out of fear; are we wasting our talents - are we not even searching them out; have we quenched a fire that once burned in our hearts; have we decided to stop pursuing our dreams? Or, are our hearts open - to God, to relationships; are we hungry to learn, to change, to grow; are we actively allowing our wounds to heal - purposely searching His face for answers; are our visions for our future clear, or in the process of becoming clear? Or, are our lives well tuned, like a piano - prepared and ready to be used however the Master chooses to use us each day; are we uncompromising in our faith; do we continue to keep our hearts prepared for wherever He chooses to lead us; do we continually choose to be productive in our faith - actively seeking and sharing?

I'm mostly out of phase 1, but I do slip back there from time to time. So I'd say a 1.9.

When I lived in Nevada I had some friends who had a ranch and every time we went out there we had "Bob" the bull in some sort of variation with our dinner (on the grill...in chili...stew...). And I really liked Bob...he was tasty. The problem came when we ran out of Bob and it was down to Bob, Jr. I had met Bob, Jr. before and his and my eyes met. I just couldn't eat Bob, Jr.

For as long as I've been a Christian I know I've graduated out of this first stage many times. It does seem to be a constant challenge to not allow certain events to draw us back to this stage. I know today I had a very hard blow and I have to admit it has set me in this whirlwind of emotions and I just want to cry and give up and pull back. But I know I have to use this time to draw on God's strength to keep me from being swallowed up again in this first stage. And I know He will provide that strength if I keep reaching for it. And I think it's the times when we're feeling that draw back to the first stage that God strengthens us more and more to live in the other stages.

It was a most fabulous weekend!! Started off with the munchkin's concert Saturday, which went very well. There are some really talented kids around these parts! His band instructor would like him to try out for the district jazz band. (Had to get a proud mom comment in there!) Saturday night a friend and I went to the Blues and Jazz Festival. Oh wow! It was amazing! We saw live performances by The Tommy Castro Band and The Stanley Jordan Trio. A-maz-ing!! And it didn't hurt that The Stanley Jordan Trio played a fabulous rendition of Amazing Grace! I think the rhythms of the night are still running through me. Sunday morning we did the 5K. Had a great time - and it was a beautiful day for it! Visited with my dad afterwards, and still had time to get to church for the last service of the morning! It was a great sermon Our church is in the midst of a 3-week series titled "When God Speaks". This week we discussed a 3-step process: Surrender Listen Obey How do we hear from God? Here are some of the ways: 1 - We hear from Him when we are silent 2 - We hear from Him when we say "Speak, Your servant is listening!" (from 1 Samuel 3 - when Eli realizes that God is speaking to Samuel and tells him to say those very words) 3 - We hear from Him in community 4 - We hear from Him through His Word 5 - We hear from Him in our own unique bandwidth - He speaks to us personally God is a relationship, not a religion. He desires to have a one-on-one personal relationship with each and every one of us. Some very good questions our pastor asked were: Do we have the Do Not Disturb sign posted? Are we screening incoming messages from Him - thereby screening Him out of our lives? Are we saying - justifying to ourselves really - "Oh, I'll get back to Him later. When I have time." Or are we keeping the lines of communication wide open with the Creator of the universe - ready and willing to do as He asks, when He asks? If we have faith, we know the being able part will come through His strength. We know He will not ask us to do anything He doesn't know we are capable to doing. Are we walking in that faith? James 4:7-8 tells us: Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Are we walking closely with Him daily? Or are we wandering off the path - out of earshot of His words? Are we consciously spending time in the Word? Do we consciously make the decision to keep Him the center of our lives? Do we consciously include Him in discussions with other believers? Do we still have that hunger to follow after Him and cling to Him? Or do we tell ourselves - later, I'll read His Word later? Going back to faith. I will always love Psalm 119:105 Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. I cling to this verse - it reminds me that if I cling tightly to Him, He will always light my path. His Word guides my path and my every step. Without it, I will stumble, lose my way, wander off the path. It is up to me to seek His light. He never takes it away, but it is up to me to look for it. For me, it is very comforting to know that - despite my shortcomings - He will never take that light away. He will never stop searching for me if I wander off. He is right there, nearby, always - I just need to keep my focus on him.

sounds like a great sermon yesterday Sam. God showed me some really powerful things for my own life this weekend. I hope to have time to share a little later. I also have a thread I am thinking of starting in singles but am hesitant.
