Good morning!

What a great vacation! I am so very thankful that God let the weather cool down a bit last week for all we did. I really don't think I would have been able to do nearly as much if the heat had continued.

Let's see ... we played tourist very well. Here's a breakdown of what we did:

Desert Botanical Gardens
Cave Creek (took the Carefree Highway)
Sedona, including taking the path around the back side of Bell Rock
Slide Rock ... the guys went down the giant slide
Heard Museum

And there was some other stuff mixed in as well. It was such a good week. Very much needed relaxation time and connection time.

I think I'm ready for the routine to start again ...

I am so jealous....Oak Creek is so Beautiful this time of year. Twenty-five years ago we used to go wild berry picking. They have fenced off areas we used to go since then. We used to camp up there too. Love the Botanical Gardens too.

I'm glad you had a good vacation.

~Blessings~

Yes, Oak Creek was very beautiful! The water was a bit on the cold side, and I really didn't expect anyone to jump in, but they did. I didn't. I'm a little more wussier than them. Or am I just smarter? I suppose once you're in and completely numb you don't feel the cold any more.

It was a little disappointing that the butterfly exhibit at the Botanical Gardens was already closed ... we could still see them flying around. Maybe they only open it for a brief period when they are most abundant? My avatar was one of the many cactus blooms ... I just love the bright colors and the fact that a cactus can produce something so delicate and beautiful.

Hi Gary! Oh yes, vacations are so nice.

Though He slay me, I will hope in Him. Nevertheless I will argue my ways before Him. This also will be my salvation, for a godless man may not come before His presence. - Job 13:15-16

Father, please help me to trust in You for whatever trouble comes my way. If Your servant Job trusted You in his trouble, I can always trust You. Amen.

Well, I finally made it to the end. I started reading your thread, Sam, when you first visited mine. I've read all the posts and really enjoyed them.

I did smile at your cold water comment though. You're in Arizona! How cold can the water be? Try the lakes up here in Canada!

Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and trust in the Lord. - Psalm 4:5

Further reading is Job chapters 38 through 42, where God correct Job's friends and restores Job.

Father, thank You that I can count on Your strength, mercy and grace. Set me free from things or people that keep me from You. Amen.

I have a friend who lives in the south-eastern corner of Arizona and I always tease her that the best time to come visit me is in January.

Brrr ... Canada in January

That's like saying the best time to visit Arizona is in August.

LOL

It has been unbelievably busy at work! My coworker has a habit of calling in "sick" the day she's suppose to come back to work, which was Monday, whether she was out one day or a week. I told my boss it's a good thing I'm dependable!! So on top of an amazing number of emails and trying to catch up to speed from having been out, and being surprised Monday afternoon with a filing, I had three extra attorneys to look after. Welcome back!! I'm still trying to find my desk.

My munchkin is loving summer break!! His last day of school was my last day of work and then I took vacation. We had company, and were all crazy last week, so there are a lot of factors going on making this week of adjustment something really special.

By 8:00 I'm ready to hit the pillows.

It sure is! I visited Arizona in January of 2007. I left Winnipeg on the coldest day of the winter. It was -50F or something like that and too cold for the de-icers for the plane wings to work so we had to wait a bit. When I got to Arizona, I was told that it was very atypically cold. And in fact, the morning we went to the Cactus Museum near Tucson, many cacti had bags and styrofoam cups covering them to protect them from the frost. I did manage to capture one little cactus with icicles hanging from it. It was still warmer than Winnipeg.

How old's your munchkin? I'm guessing about 12. I have four sons, ages 22-28.

But let all who take refuge in You be glad, let them ever sing for joy; and may You shelter them, that those who love Your name may exult in You. - Psalm 5:11

Further reading is Acts chapter 12 ... Peter is set free from prison by an angel.

Father, Peter trusted You with his life. Help me to give up control in my life and really trust You. Amen.

Yup, that water is always very cold. I just get wet and then sit in the sun. lake Tahoe is always cold too. I'm just as wussy as you about it I guess.

Hi Ed! Yes, I do believe it's going to be a wonderful weekend!!

I sent that cheesecake cookie recipe to a friend of mine, who is a WW wiz, and she immediately sent the revised version back to me. She converted it from 6 points per bar to 1.25 points per bar. I was quite impressed with her switcheroonie of the ingredients approach. I might just give it a try myself ... although, I am wondering how well they would freeze? I would be the only one in my house eating them. Hmm. Wonder if I can convince the munchkin that cheesecake is good? So far he has been stubborn and resisted.

I haven't been to Lake Tahoe ... yet. It's on my list of places to visit. I am really excited that I am overcoming my water phobia but I don't think I'm up for jumping in icy water.

Why would you WANT to convince him to like cheesecake? If he doesn't like it, that means more for you!
