This looks like an interesting place to hang out. Maybe I should subscribe and keep in touch.

Right now, I'm trying to figure out how to market my eBook and Bible study with no finances to do so. I either need to attract some substantial donations or find a way to get lots of traffic to my website cheaply so it can generate sales.

I saw some comments on cars above. I majored in automotive technology in 1972 before going into full-time preaching ministry. I still enjoy looking at Road & Track, even though I let my subscription lapse after 25 years.

Currently, I'm watching the electric cars like the Tesla and Chevy Volt. I think this is going to be a very interesting development in the automotive world.

Back to Jesus, I love serving Him so much that I have committed to do it for the rest of my life regardless of what comes. I'm constantly seeking to see what I can do to be a witness for Christ to others.

Thanks for letting me stop by and share what's big on my mind. I hope to be back soon.

Yeap, welcome... a good place for a reprieve from the girlies. A guys place to talk cars, smell like mixed gas or gun powder, and wear cut off jeans with flip flops. No demands, no honey do chores. [:)]

I'd be interested in an electric car for commuting to work. However there are a few things that would be problematic. The commute is almost 80 miles per day. The car would have to have that much capability while also providing heating and air conditioning. Then it would have to be less expensive over the life of the vehicle than a conventional car. I don't think I'll see a model that can do all of that anytime soon.

Same here Ray, I drive between 50 to 200 miles per day. The vehicle would also need to be a truck, with sufficient power to haul small loads... and a boat for play days. I think Chevy/GM is getting close with their 2009 hybrid, but it still only gets an estimated 19.2 MPG. That's better than 16MPG, but is still not as good as a diesel that cost less.

Have you checked out the Tesla Roadster? This is a pure electric sports car capable of up to 250 miles on a single charge. In England, PM Flightlink (http://www.pmlflightlink.com/) has a Volvo, BMW Mini and other cars with electric motors in each wheel yeilding four wheel drive and the performance that goes with it. These cars are not slouches!

I just saw an article today at yahoo investments about some plug-in hybrids coming in the 2010 model year. They are going to be offering some very good mileage. I only question whether they have powerful enough motors to attract today's driver!

Have you guys checked out any of the shooting clips on YouTube? How about a Glock submachine pistol? I got a bang out of it.

A lot is on my mind but it is hard to choose what I want to talk about. Right now life is going to rough every time it seems I take a step I put back five more. The positive thing though is I might be getting a free car that I will bring in here and we all can fix it up to make it look nice.

I was just looking at this. Nice car...really nice.

The killer is the sticker price of over $100,000. At today's gas prices, I could buy a $20,000 car that gets 25mpg and put 500,000 miles on it for less money. [8D]

(Granted it wouldn't be nearly as much fun.)[sm=cool.gif]

I think that as we see more cars go electric, sticker prices will get a little more reasonable.

For now, a new Corvette would be my pick of the litter. 40 years ago, I had an eye on taking a 37 Chevy 5 window coupe, putting a V-8 with side mounted exhausts, cheater slicks on the rear and some appropriate paint. Only one thing kept it from happening. Bummer!

What would you like to drive?

Any of you Dudes garden? We've got a neighborhood garden at my neighbors extra vacant lot. Got the little Mantis tiller... that thing rocks!! It is the best little tool to use for weeding, keeping the soil fluffed up, tossing out the rocks, and turns the cow poo deep into the soil. Spent the last 4 evenings in my yard and the garden, sooo much fun playing with power tools. [:D]

Yes, but it's been a bad year. We've had so much rain. Seems it has rained about three days out of four. Some of them being gully-washers. The garden has suffered for it. Also when it hasn't been raining, there hasn't been any time to spend caring for it either. The weeds have taken over. [&o]

My parents had a garden when I was growing up. We raised almost all of the potatoes and vegatables that we ate.

I've had a small garden in years back, but now I only long for a house with a yard where I could plant some things and enjoy the harvest.

Last night was frustating. Seemed like nothing was going well at all.

First, band practice was cancelled...not entirely unexpected.

The car came back from the shop on Wednesday. I had changed the oil and was headed to church when it started having problems with the brakes. Further inspection revealed a pin-hole leak in a brake line.

Last night I looked at it again, and found the source of the leak. It won't be easy to access.

Then attention turned to staining the deck. The expectation was to get one coat applied to half the deck so that after drying, everything could be moved in order to do the other half later.

Last time I had sprayed on the stain and it worked well. This time the product had been reformulated. While the directions said that it could be applied with a sprayer, it was much too viscous and just oozed out the end. The instructions also said not to thin the product.[8|][sm=comp1.gif]

I tried thinning it anyway, but it still didn't apply well with a sprayer. After several failed attempts and several incidents of overspray on the siding of the house, I finally gave up. [:@]

It was hot and humid. Sweat was rolling off my face and I could see better without the glasses than through the sweat-covered lenses. The sprayer was abandoned for a paint brush. Instead of staining half the deck, all that was accomplished was staining about 25% of the deck railings and none of the deck itself. The mosqitoes had their fill, and I ran out of daylight.

I don't do painting or staining. My painter guy charges me $150 to pressure wash a house and decks, and $150-$200 to stain the decks if I buy the materials. I figure that is well worth it to not have to kill myself and give up a good weekend.

Man, what a sweet garage you got here!

Yeah, well I was just passing by and heard you'd done some deck staining. Let me just say- awesome job! 'Twere me, I'd a stained one hand and down to the elbow at the same time. The way you tell it, you just got up, said hasta la Min-Wax, and had none of it on ya. That, brother, is a talent worth keeping.

Speaking of which, do you do house eaves and wood replacement?

I'd love to stay and try a spoonful of that old coffee- man! When did someone make that last pot? That's some thick brew. Yep, I'll trade some logs for the fire for some arms over the head labor.

Thanks for the time. I've gotta get me a garage like this one day. I'll try to come back when I can stay longer. Are these parking meters in here for just anybody, or just your special guests? The chairs under them don't look used all that much.
