Rach, are you wanting to know how to make a link that can be accessed from any portal and keep the person logged into their own poral they use? That's a relative link. OK . . You know how you normally would copy the entire address from the address bar for a regular link? Well, for a relative link . . . you only have to copy everything to the right of .com Your relative links will actually begin with /fb For example, let's take the following link (I've added spaces in to allow for the lesson): http: / /www. faithcommunitynetwork. com/fb. aspx?m=3430024 Highlight and delete http:// www. faithcommunity network . com What you have remaining . . . /fb. aspx?m=3430024. . . will be your link (except without the space added in there). In the link window, this will be inserted on the middle row (with, of course, the bottom row being whatever you want to name the link). The middle row says URL * next to the typing window. The top row (Type) has a pull-down window. Click on the arrows and then choose relative . . and then finish that window by clicking on ok. Then, what you'll end up with is a relative link to where you want to direct people. For instance, with the above: Guess Who?

Good morning Everyone! Having a little bit of forums blur myself right now, lol! When I do a relative link, I click on the post in question then copy the URL. Then I click on the link button which is above, but change the the drop down menu to relative instead. Someone showed me that, I think it was Sharon-Marie, but I am not sure though. Makes sense at all?

Makes sense at all? Yep, Mike - that's correct. And your post reminded me of a point that some people may not realize . . . . . . At the bottom right corner of each post, there is a post # link. (For instance, this post will show Post # 5395). Click on that link (which, I believe is what Mike was referring to). A small window will pop up with the URL. That way, when you post a relative link, it will take you to the exact post you want to link to (otherwise, copying and pasting the URL from the address bar will simply take you to the page where the post is and not necessarily to the exact post). And then, of course, once you get the window with the post's specific URL information, you can complete the relative link process . . . of which instructions can be found HERE . . . and while y'all are over there, please give kudos to a mod, or even to the whole bunch of 'em.

Oh, I didn't know, I have copied all of it before. So here I do not copy the http://www.faithcommunitynetwork.com/ part but only the m_2979057/mpage_216/tm.htm#3433144 instead, or it doesn't work at all?

You need to include the slash mark just behind the word .com, so you'd put /m_2979057/mpage_216/tm.htm#3433144 If you don't do that then you are not making a relative link, and the link you post will still go to Faithcommunitynetwork even if you select relative from teh pull down menu If you don't include the slash mark then you will have a broken link.

I've just copied the whole link, and then selected a "relative link" and it fixes it for me. At least i thought it did.
