Well, actually, there was never any indecision.

The answer is, well, uhm, gee how should I say this . . . No thank you.

But . . . how is such illustrious packing going?

Not so well. I have 3 boxes in my office packed, and that isn't even starting on books, just DVD's, CD's, and decorations. I did make an interesting pattern on the wall with sticky tack though.

At home, I've packed all the movies, 3 boxes of files, and 2 boxes of books. Not really that far along, and it overwhelms me. I need someone to just come in and say . . . We're packing this now. Now we're packing this. My perfectionistic procrastinating tendencies are getting the best of me at this packing job. I want every box to be perfectly packed, and the thought of getting to that point overwhelms me, so I do nothing. You sure you won't reconsider the helping packing thing????????

You're a hoot, Denise!

Hmmm . . . well, how much are you paying for the job?

I LOVE pictures of Jesus laughing. There's one, from my memory, of a close-up of his face - hair all wind-blown and He's laughing - man, I love that!

Have you heard Mark Lowry's song about his favorite picture of Jesus laughing?

When Benjamin was just 4 yrs old, he was infatuated with this girl at church who was twice his age. One time she was giving him a good-bye hug and he gave her a big 'ole kiss on the lips and she about freaked out. She ran and told her mom (at the top of her voice no less) that "HE KISSED ME THE BAD WAY!!!!!" Poor little guy, he had no idea he couldn't figure out what he had done wrong and why it was bad.

It's a rare occasion now that he will let me give him a kiss unless it's on his cheek. I think she scarred him.

Oh my word...how embarrassing!

And yet, I laughed out loud as I read it.

I'm sorry she scarred him and you don't get little guy kisses as much. I dread having that time come.

Oh, I did ask her if she gave my kisses to him and she said that she still has all of mine and she only gave him the one she had for him. Well, okay...

We need to come up with a soap opera sounding name for this...maybe using the word playdate or something.

I tried to decide where to put this story and I think SharMar's thread is the best choice.

Last night after choir rehearsal we went to pick up GB at her class. Her little boyfriend was in there. I hugged her, took her to the potty, put her sandals back on her (stinker) and told her to go say "bye" to her friends.

She walked up to this little boy and hugged him. At first he backed away, but then I saw it was because he had a Ritz cracker and didn't want it smooshed. He put his sippy cup and cracker down and hugged her.

Then, she moved in to kiss him on the cheek! You know how kids usually turn their face to avoid kisses??? Well, this little casinova turned his face to where her kiss planted on his lips!!! I could have fainted.

help!

Denise???!!! Aren't y'all moving THIS month?

I understand about doing nothing after being overwhelmed when contemplating how to do something perfectly.

Stop it.

CS's toys . . . His toy room was the last thing I packed when I moved out of the house. Not from any sort of procrastination or anything.

I started packing up his toy room 3 months before I moved out of the house. I'd gather all the toys from a shelf, wash them, dry them, tag them with an inventory number and then inventory them with the number and a description onto a computer file. I did that for about 4 hours each day (5-6 days each week). Plus, I was still spending a couple of hours each day still going through other parts of the house and packing or placing in various distribution "centers" I had set up throughout the house.

Remember I said I started on the toy room 3 months before I moved out of the house? 3 months later, a few days before the estate auction (and a few days before the time I needed to leave the house), I was probably only about halfway through with packing up the toy room (and I certainly wasn't anywhere near packed up with the house - except for the stuff that was going in the auction, all that had been moved out of the house earlier that week by the auction company).

So, I ditched the very neat and organized method I had been using and starting just filling up boxes with toys . . . not cleaning them, not tagging them, not inventorying them.

Which I really didn't want to do because I wanted to do all that stuff before they went into the boxes . . . Now I have half of the toys cleaned and neatly resting in boxes with nice little inventory tags bearing numbers and I have half the toys just kinda "there" in boxes, not cleaned and without any nice little inventory tag.

Why am I telling you all this? Who knows?
LOL

(Probably because for the next 3 months, my focus is going to be on getting these toys sold).

But hey, it's a packing story . . . and you're packing . . . so there's a correlation in there if ya look hard enough.

But seriously, I would very much encourage you to enlist the help of a (local) friend to assist you . . . (1) It will force you out of the inertia caused by being overwhelmed and (2) packing really does take much longer than people think it will.

I started packing up the house 2 weeks after CS died . . . a year later, I was still packing and I had run out of time (not to mention energy). I was so completely "over" it by then. I left a lot of stuff in the house, simply because I had no time left, no energy left and by then I just didn't care. (But being a minimalist, "stuff" really isn't my thing anyway, so it wasn't hard for me to leave things behind nor do I regret it . . . however, if I had realized just how long it was going to take me to pack, I probably would have assigned more things to the auction. Oh well C'est la Vie. )

So . . . Get to packing!

{{{Denise}}}

It happens. He'll get over it when he hits 13 or so.

So it's gray and nasty and supposed to stay that way all day. I don't think I'll be barbecuing anything today.

Time to get showered. Hasta luego Señorita.

Same here. I wish this stuff would just push off and hang over the ocean instead of here.

Bill, have you seen all the "Bill" stuff HERE? There's more than that and, if you don't already have at least some of it, I think you need to get some.
