Finding Forrester, and it was even better than I remembered it when I saw it a few years ago. It stars Sean Connery as a writer who hasn't left his apartment for years and the teenager who he helps to hone his writing skills.

Letters from Iwo Jima, pretty good movie, not one to watch with your wife if she doesn't understand the complexities of battle. (in otherwords, not a chick flick) Today we received "Raise the Red Lantern" with Li Gong and Cuifen Cao. I love Chinese flicks. The imagery and action is unbeatable. Some of my fav's are Jet LI's Fearless, House of Flying Daggers, (Awesome) and Curse of the Golden Flower, that movie was amazing. I would recommend it to all.

Thelma & Louise - Finally got this thang. Pretty wild for '91. I didn't know the story line before I got it. I assumed they were bank robbers from the get go. A good case of bad gone to worst.

The Good Shepherd - Didn't know it was that long! Hard to follow in some places. Was this based on a true story?

Things We Lost in the Fire - is in my machine now. I've watched the first 30 minutes. Very hard to follow right now. Back & forth is hard to follow (just like Good Shepherd), but I'm afraid this is going to be worse. I'm already beginning to wonder if I'm going to care for the storyline. Well, I rented it & it is money, so I better watch it & make the best of it! kd

Amazing Grace - Excellent!
I totally loved the bagpipe rendention of Amazing Grace at the end. Wonderful!

"Changing Lanes" ....a decent drama with morality questions.

The Kite Runner
Although I have yet to read the book, the movie was excellent.

We went to see that when it came out in theaters. It was a really good movie, and I agree- the bagpipe rendition was amazing!

27 Dresses.....I was forced! [:D]

Enchanted was way better than I expected it to be. The fair maiden meets her prince charming but the wicked witch stepmother of the prince does something even worse than make her fall into a deep sleep. She pushes her all the way down to...the real world where animals can't talk very clearly and some people...well...aren't very nice!

Not a movie for very young kids, but many older kids and adults who are at least somewhat kids at heart will enjoy this movie. My wife and I loved it.

Becoming Jane - Biographical story of Jane Austen

There Will Be Blood
- Good movie, Daniel Day Lewis is fantastic!

Monarchy - British BBC series about the history of the Monarchy dating back to Roman times. Presented by David Starkey, the leading authority on the subject.

Just watched last Batman movie. It was good.

wareaglekd -> RE: What was the last movie that you rented? (5/12/2008 11:08:49 AM)

Bella - Very nice. I think it is important to know the meaning behind the film before seeing or or you may not get it, since it is pretty short. If you know upfront it is encouraging adoption, you will get more out of it.

Firewall - Very action packed. I normally don't get worked up watching these kind of films, but this one had me on the edge of my seat! It's hard to watch Harrison Ford being just a dad for a film. You start looking for his other characters to pop out (Jack Bauer? is that correct?). For those that watch House - isn't that Amber who is playing the secretary in this film? Sure looks like her.

Tristan & Isolde - Interesting movie. I can never get used to the behavior of people like Isolde's father. She really had an unfortunate life. Lord Marke was a good man & those were few & far between in those days. Good battle scenes.

4 this weekend - special going on at Movie Gallery

Legend of the Water Horse - It was good, but not as exciting as I had expected from the previews. Some very deep situations w/ the boy that were never completed. I guess you would just assume they were solved through the relationship w/ the water horse. I think older kids would enjoy it, but may be too much for the younger ones.

The Emporer's Club - I think I've seen it before, but I'm glad I saw it again for clarification. Disappointing how the young man turned out. A good conclusion for people that do put way too much excellence into their work. No one can have a perfect work record & have all their students turn out great. Just won't happen. But, in the end it's a testament to those who do succeed.

Legend of Bagger Vance - Excellent Movie!!! I think it was better than Greatest Game Ever Played. Don't know why I waited so long to see it. The passion the boy has for the game is amazing. And what it took to get the star player to find what he was missing tucked away in his heart. I think I will just have to read the book!

I Dreamed of Africa - I couldn't get into this one because I was watching it w/ my mother & she freaked out too much during the movie. I was taken at the sacrifices the woman had to make. It was tough for her in the beginning, but she began to accept the life & did great things in Kenya. It had plenty of tragedy, but it boils down to the reality that to truly live you are going to have tragedy. Beautiful scenery in Kenya.

Enchanted - Better than I thought it would be.

bzirk -> RE: What was the last movie that you rented? (5/19/2008 10:31:28 PM)

Rewatched Pride and Prejudice (BBC version). Still as great as I remember it. Need to buy that one. [8D]

groom52 -> RE: What was the last movie that you rented? (5/21/2008 5:48:44 PM)

Flower Drum Song which I had never seen before (I guess I considered it a chic flc) but I did enjoy watching it with my wife.

We watched it on DVD, one night the movie iteself, another night the various extra features which were quite interesting. Then we watched the entire movie again with the commentary.

I do like musicals, and although this wasn't my favorite, it was a good one to watch with my sweetheart. (Watching a Spiderman movie with her isn't quite the same.) [:D]

wareaglekd -> RE: What was the last movie that you rented? (6/2/2008 3:47:48 PM)

Thou Shalt Laugh - Very funny, especially the ventriloquist.

Devil Wears Prada - I was actually surprised w/ this one. I enjoyed it.

The Horse Whisperer - Only into the first hour of it & so far pretty good. I hope it won't be disappointing due to the fact it's almost a 3 hour movie. k

March7 -> RE: What was the last movie that you rented? (6/2/2008 4:38:37 PM)

Oh, my, yes, the ventriloquist on "Thou Shalt Laugh" is hilarious!!!!

March7 -> RE: What was the last movie that you rented? (6/2/2008 4:40:43 PM)

National Treasure II

rockitd -> RE: What was the last movie that you rented? (6/2/2008 5:35:52 PM)

Yours, Mine, and Ours an '05 flick with Dennis Quaid and Renee Russo. Great family film.

Mad Money- not a good message, but entertaining. Didn't care for the language either.

I totally concur with the lovers of National Treasure 2, Bella, and Amazing Grace. Great flicks.[8D]

trumpeter4Jesus -> RE: What was the last movie that you rented? (6/2/2008 10:20:34 PM)

From Netflix:

National Treasure II
Pirates of the Caribbean II
Pirates of the Caribbean III

BTW, the whole family is enjoying the third season of The Muppet Show that we just bought. The Muppet Show rocks!

sunshine4God -> RE: What was the last movie that you rented? (6/2/2008 11:22:38 PM)

Sweeney Todd.I thought it was really cool, although some scenes were quite gory.It is a musical also which is another reason why I liked it so much.

pberardi -> RE: What was the last movie that you rented? (6/5/2008 1:22:18 AM)

I don't rent movies I just pick them off the internet. Plenty of links for movies that are out on rental and some that are still in the theatres like Iron Man and The Shining and American Gangster and Juno.
