I don't think David A. is all washed up at 17 if he doesn't win AI. He's got an incredible voice. Not perfect, but very nice to listen to. I think either of them will do fine at this stage either way. I am fine with either of them winning.

On the Tonight Show last night Simon Cowell said he thought David C. should win because he had worked longer and harder for it and David A. was just starting out and had years of a career ahead of him.

Let's face it, other than Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood the show has never lived up to its hype. No other winner has even come close to being a pop "superstar". They've had decent careers in other fields like Broadway or Carnival Cruises , but nothing I would call idol-like. So David A. winning would be consistent. He'll sell a few cd's and then quietly fade into the background while David C. sells a couple million of his debut. And please note the underlined word before you decide to flame me with how many successful careers the show has launched.

EVEN IF ARCHIE NEEDS THIS MORE....why is that a reason to vote for him or for him to win? This is not American Who Needs It Most Idol...this is a talent contest...and the one with the most musical talent should win...and if David Cook wins, then the one with the most musical talent will have won...for one of the first times in AI history!!!!

I'm voting for whomever has the best night tonight.

If one of them wow's me, I'm voting. If neither do, I'm watching House Hunters.

I periodically look up websites of past idol participants. Seems the majority are doing okay. They may not be in the Kelly/Carrie category, but they are doing alright & seem to have a following. That goes even for the winners. I guess the expectation should be that the winners have #1 hits, etc. etc. Well, I think a lot of it goes back to initial judging. A lot of great potential was cut due to this ridiculous necessity to have the crazy acts. At this point, we probably all know at least one person that went out for it & didn't make it & we knew they had potential. It all had to do w/ the idiot in the clown suit being right next to them. So all in all, we get what we get for the finalists, whether the potential is there or not. Can't say it was our fault, can we?! kd

Even if David A gets the Disney endorsement- he has very limited window time because he's 17. Most of their talents started very young.

Was it Lee Ann Rimes who became a huge country star at about 13? And you're right that most Disney talents at least start out as pre-teens.

Also, please note: I am not giving a reason to vote for any contestant. I am simply being realistic about their prospects. Archie's appeal is to the Disney tweenie crowd. Eventually that group will grow up and move on to older singers. Therefore, Archie has to seize the moment now or he'll end up like all those 90's boy bands: as a footnote in a trivia book.

In addition with the David A going Disney....'just realized most of their talents were unknown. I'm thinking of Lizzie Mcguire, High School Musical casts, Hannah Montana, Zack and Cody and others ....they were all unknown. The only one that was known was Raven since she played Olivia when she was a baby. So I don't think Disney will be jumping on David A to get him a contract.

I don't think Disney CAN. The top two are signed by Sony.

JUST TO MENTION:

If you vote for Archie, you will hear that sappy song he sang every time you turn on the radio!

YUCK!

IMO, David A. sang all his 3 songs better tonight than David C.
David C. has a great singing voice, he sings well at what he does the whole rocker thing, but I thought David A. was awesome.

I think I wrote David A. off too quickly.
He could do well if he gets the right image and chooses songs and a style that suits that image.

Yeah. To me it's a difficult choice. Archie frankly did better tonight. But I voted for Cook because I think he's done better overall throughout the season.

When listening to the three songs recap, it was like David Archuletta's songs could have all been linked together into one...because they all sounded so much the same.
David Cook, on the other hand, you could definitely tell where one song ended and the other began. He has a very versatile ability with music...even if he sings all rock, it all sounds different because he adds the something extra, the something unique that makes it special.
I think the judges have been pushing Archie for a long time... Tonight was more of the same. I won't be surprised if he wins, but I will be a bit disappointed.

I'm having a lot of trouble getting through to vote tonight. I'm sure it's because of the finale, but I've never had this much trouble before...wow. Those of you voting for the other guy having that problem as well, I'm sure...

To anyone who knows the dial idol setup...I have only looked at their site for the past two or three weeks... But I'm having trouble just getting the site to come up tonight. Is this normal?

I had some trouble getting through.

I voted for David C. numerous times.

I do not really care for David A's singing. He licks his lips a lot, he is awkward, he sang Imagine , and I think his CD will be boring. I agree with visitor---his songs always sound the same.

And o'le Clive does not have anything to do with it anymore. He's out as chairman of J Records and is off in the sunset.

I would not buy a record from none of them because this season has not lived up to its hype. Not this year.

It's 11:15 here in the midwest and finally I was able to make some calls for Cook. It's been busy the last 2 hours.

I've not been a big fan of either one, but Archie mopped the floor with Cook tonight. Totally agree with Simon. It wasn't even a contest to me.

I'm not the Josh Groban kind of music lover, so I don't know that I would buy an Archuletta CD based on what it seems he would sing, but if this competition tonight was about whom the better singer tonight was, its no contest.

The 2nd song Archuletta did was horrible to me. Glad I DVR'd it all. I skipped through most of his songs.... I was a little surprised after the first round, I thought Cook was by far the better performance. After round 2 when I thought Archie was horrible and the judges went nuts over him I knew for sure they were biased tonight. I understand Archie will sell a lot more teen magazines to the young girls, like my daughter I'm sure, but I just find him boring.
I've already bought all of Cook's songs off itunes.

Tried off and on for a really long time and finally got through to vote for the Word Nerd.

While I hope he wins ... Just like in past years, the true test will be in record sales ... David C will outsell Archie any day of the week .. and I hope that it doesn't take years for him to put out the kind of record he wants like it did for Bo Bice ... somebody bought his first CD for me and I was disappointed ... It was good to hear earlier in the season that he had finally re-discovered Southern Rock.

It was interesting the turn around Simon had.

My mom said he was on Ellen yesterday and was totally pulling for David Cook, stating that David A. was good, but just not the star.

Last night was a total difference.

They're both great vocalists, but David C. nust has that star quality and maturity that David A. needs to gain.

Well, I voted many times for David C. I was a little disappointed that I got through so much, but not totally surprised. I did start calling over an hour into voting, because we hadn't watched the show until then. I agree that David A. did well, but I don't know about knocked it out of the park. I guess I'm biased & jaded because I think he'll win. Dial Idol is predicting David C. to win (by a significant margin), but I don't think they'll be right this time.

I didn't particularly like David C's performance. I admit that I'm biased, though, since U2 is one of my all-time favorite bands. Trying to slow down a song with so much passion and energy just sounded blah. It certainly didn't sound very yearning.

Gotta admit, Simon was right. 1st round went to Archie.

Neither song was any great shakes to me.

Drat, I hate agreeing with Simon. I'm just wondering: did David know that Archie was singing Imagine? Then for Pete's sake, why didn't he sing one of the songs that he had himself made great (i.e. Hello or Billy Jean like Simon said)? Even if David didn't know what Archie was singing, he still should have stepped up and knocked it out of the ballpark with something wow. Archie was very, very smart to sing Imagine again, and he knew it.

Gotta admit, David A definitely did a better job last night.
