So why is it that the one kid sang with a British accent?? (I only heard about it from a friend -- during his audition I was arguing with my morning sickness) British people don't sound British when they sing, so why do non-Brits???

I loved the look on Simon's face when he was snuggling with the one gal's puppy ... I totally agreed with his comment as well "Love your dog ... hate your performance"

The delusional ones are also told in the previous screenings that they were good enough to move on.
Friends and family, plus that, is just too much for them to accept any kind of negative criticism.

From what I heard on the radio about the girl who's Dad passed away, when she found out about her Dad passing away she was already to pack and leave and head back home but I guess her brothers and I believe her Mom wanted her to go through the audition and the family believed that would been her Dad's wish as well.

There are several rounds of auditions before they get to Simon, Paula and Randy. It takes several days to get that far. Most likely she had already passed all the preliminary auditions before her father died. I imagine before he died her father was thrilled that she had gotten that far.

It had to have been a very difficult decision to go on with the audition.

Resident AI Spoiler here...

Since the audition rounds are over, I thought I'd post the rumored Top 24. Although much can change, I'm feeling pretty confident with what I'm hearing thus far. If you remember, during last season I correctly predicted all 24, so we'll see if the sources hold up this year.

Anyway, if you want to know, here they are... (Highlight to read)

GIRLS:
Kristy Lee Cook
Asiah Epperson
Syesha Mercado
Brooke White
Carly Hennessy Smithson
Alaina Whitaker
Alexandrea Lushington
Kady Malloy
Ramielle Maulbay
Amanda Overmyer
Amy Davis
Joanne Borgella

GUYS:
Michael Lee Johns
David Cook
Robbie Carrico
Chikezie Eze
Colton Berry
Danny Noriega
David Archuleta
David Hernandez
Garrett Haley
Jason Castro
Jason Yeager
Luke Menard

Ain't spoiling anything for me, I can never remember their names. Plus we probably didn't see 20 of the 24 yet.

the rumored Top 24

I'm putting comments next to the ones we've seen.

Kristy Lee Cook -- Auditioned in Philadelphia. She sang "Amazing Grace". Trains horses.
Asia'h Epperson -- Dad died 2 days earlier
Syesha Mercado -- her dad used to struggle with drugs and alcohol, she an actress, sang an Aretha song.
Brooke White -- Auditioned in Philadelphia. She sang “Just Like a Star”. Married. Doesn't drink, smoke or watch "R" rated movies.
Carly Hennessy Smithson -- had tried out in season 5 but was disqualified due to a visa problem. Husband is tattoo artist. There's some contraversy that she may have worked with Randy Jackson in the past.
Alaina Whitaker -- She says she’s been compared to Carrie Underwood, but she likes to think Carrie looks like her and not the other way around.
Alexandrea Lushington -- 92 year old great grandmother was with her at the audition
Kady Malloy -- Could do impressions of other singers. Sang “Unchained Melody” in her own voice.
Ramielle Maulbay -- from the Philippines. Sang “Natural Woman”
Amanda Overmyer -- Rocker, biker nurse
Amy Davis -- sang “Blue Bayou” and is half Japanese
Joanne Borgella -- Plus size model

GUYS:
Michael Lee Johns
David Cook -- Omaha auditions. sang “Living on a Prayer”
Robbie Carrico -- was in boy-band Boyz-N-Girlz and is now a "rocker"
Chikezie Eze -- Had been eliminated in the Hollywood rounds last season.
Colton Berry
Danny Noriega -- Sang "Proud Mary", also eliminated in last season's Hollywood round
David Archuleta -- Previously had a paralyzed vocal chord
David Hernandez
Garrett Haley
Jason Castro
Jason Yeager
Luke Menard

I'm amazed that we have seen all of the top 12 females. Of course, if the rumor is true.

That kind of exploitation is wrong, wrong, wrong.
I don't like watching it.
And I'm over Paula & Randy too! ....sorry, I'll stop now...hangs head and walks away...

Thank you. That puts another slant on the story. I had just assumed that she was auditioning in her own city.

Now, if only we could learn more about the homeless kid, I'd feel comfortable. I'm sorry if I sounded harsh above, but I work in a school and so I see kids from broken homes. In my own class I have two brothers who were taken away from their mother and are now in the foster care system...sad, so sad. So if the kid comes from some sort of lousy home, then I will have compassion on him just like I do with my kids. If, on the other hand, he just ran away because of some teenage angst thing, then he gets no sympathy from me.

thanks for the list.....

ok...help me out here. Last time we watched we were in Germany and it was on different times and nights (thanks to the wonderful people at FOX that allowed the military channels over there to play it!!!! we were never sure if we would get to watch some shows or not, but FOX is good about keeping the military in mind!!!).
So....what nights are the show on here in the states? and what time (central time zone)?

We've seen Michael Lee Johns as well. He was the Australian who sang Otis Redding's "I've Been Loving You Too Long".

Sarah - it changes some weeks (like if they do boys one night & girls the next & then results). This week it will be on Tuesday night 7 - 9 (CST) and Wednesday night 7 - 8 (CST).

Anyone else glad it is past auditions?!

I like AI best at the beginning, when they have all the bad singers. It's funny then. When they get down to all good singers, I get bored.

I am so looking forward to the Hollywood segment now. This is when finally you get to hear the ones who never had a chance to be heard on TV during their auditions. 'can't listen to anymore bad auditions and yet display their nastiest behaviors on TV.

I hate the auditions. They were funny when the show first started, but now they're nothing but the same thing: one loser after another with an attitude who just wants some attention. I like what somebody said here earlier, about how auditionees in the stadium would boo whenever somebody with a costume got passed to the next round. That's how I feel.

Wow-- very different Hollywood audition and I like it. I'm glad they got rid of that little group singing things. They all had second chances and I have to admit there seems to be a few really stand out tonight. They're also not dragging the Hollywood audition. It should always have been like this. No party, no field trip, no ego among groups just plain singing auditions.

I'm really not understanding why that Kyle guy (the "politician") wasn't sent home. Do they feel they need to fill a quota of non-beautiful people, even if they can't sing? He sounded like he was in a high school musical (and not "High School Musical"!).

Josiah has a nice heart-string story ... but something about him just seems unstable. You kind-of want to root for him, but if he does get through, I think it's going to break him.

I like the way they changed the Hollywood week auditions. I am so glad they eliminated the group numbers.

Josiah is good when he's in complete control of his performance but he doesn't seem to work well with other such as the band. I'm not sure he'd survive American Idol.

I couldn't believe that one girl complained that she didn't get a fair chance "like everybody else". She got exactly the same chance as everybody else.

I think the judges are working hard to not have another Sanjaya.

I'm thinking the same thing as you
Josiah will have a hard time getting out from his comfort zone.
The girl...I think she was the beauty queen.
Yup...with the judges. It does seems like they want to be very careful on their picks and I'm sure it has to do with all the Sanjaya thing last year.

Yes. The beauty queen.

I was actually surprised Paula said no to the beauty queen but then Paula will say whatever Randy says.
Kyle (kid with a tie, we call him Dwight Schrute's younger brother)-- his first performance was bad but I thought he sang okay on Day 3 but then I looked away from the TV and just listened to his voice.

Yeah, Kyle's looks sometimes make you wonder if he's for real or not. It's not a nice thing to say if he IS for real. He may really be that clean cut w/ the tie all the time & want to be a politician. I'm sure we'd like him just fine if he dressed regular. So, what is regular - a hoody & frompy jeans?!!!

Yeah, Josiah worries me. He has issues that AI may just not want to fool w/ on a legal standpoint.

It's pretty interesting that the younger ones seem to be monopolizing, at least that's the sense we are getting from the clips. Is it possible we are really seeing the final 12 already - a lot of 18 year olds? Interesting. kd
