I'm not even to training - I need to get hired by someone first... (in WA state, you don't head off to the academy until you are hired by someone. Which is nice because then you are paid while at the academy).

The hiring process is a very long and hard though. I went through almost the entire process last year only to not get hired. That means I have to literally start over from the beginning and do everything all over again...

It's going to take a while... That's why I'm thinking about working corrections first (still a lengthy process). I know I'd have a very good shot at getting hired and at least in this area, it would give me a huge leg-up in getting hired for patrol (a LOT of officers get hired this route around here). But... I want to talk with the Lt. at the jail and take the tour first to find out if that's really the route I want to take. That's why I'm waiting to apply other places until I talk with her - that and you pay for the testing so I don't want to waste money if I don't have to.

I don't know that if that makes sense... I'm ready for my nap....

Phosy, sounds like you gotta jump through lots of hoops. I'm in awe of your perseverance toward getting this job.

Honestly, if I hadn't bought a house 2 years ago and put major work into it, I'd be seriously praying about it. The thought of moving right now after all this work just makes me want to cry...

I want to get at least a little bit of enjoyment out of all my labors these past 2 years!

Although the not having to pay for the testing sure sounds nice... Especially after I just spent more than $100 a week ago on more copies of my birth certificate and college transcripts...
