I don't think a vet would charge just to talk to him. At least my vet wouldn't--and I have called her many times--in fact she calls me after I have taken my cats to her if they have been sick. The tech even calls the day after their vaccinations to see how they are.

Cheeto sounds adorable. One of my cat's name is Punkin, she looks like "Morris the cat" too, lol. Punkin is 8 yrs old and loves to cuddle.

Sounds like Cheeto knows just what he is doing. He will be king of his jungle before you know it. Gotta love it.

We had guests for a few days and they left Monday afternoon. The cats are just now getting back to normal.

Poor Coco got hurt, she is keeping her right paw up in the air. I don't see any cuts on it though so I'm not concerned about infection. We'll watch it and see how she does.

Sampson is at least ten years old, and completely feral. I do wish I could catch him and give him a rabies shot, but he has made it this long. He looks nice and fat, too. So he is eating chipmunks. Or he has worms.

My husband has talked me into getting a new kitten. (He says our cat needs a companion...I suspect he just really likes cats.) Anyway, we're going to the shelter today to see what they have. I'm wondering, if we bring a kitten home, whether I should bathe it to get the shelter smell off? Any thoughts?

Well, since I do bathe my cats I sure would. I think even if I didn't bathe them I would. Kennel stuff on them, kennel smell, and who knows how clean the area was they kept kitty in. Kitty may not like it but s/he'll get over it. :) and in other news, Baxter got a mouse today. He was meowing funny so I went in to see what his problem was, and there it sat, between his front paws. I walked over to pick it up with a napkin but he grabbed it. He ran off and dropped it again, so I grabbed a toy mouse and threw it by him to distract him. He just looked at me like I was nuts, why would he want a toy one when he had the real deal? So, I make a move and he grabs it again. As I walked away to get gloves and get serious with him, he dropped it and to my horror started batting the thing around the floor. I tried whacking the floor next to him with a swiffer handle (the only thing close) but he took off. I knew it was hopeless so I chased him into the utility room and shut the door. I went back after about 10 minutes and he was more than willing to leave it behind. He doesn't like closed doors. While I am absolutely thrilled he got the thing, I wish he didn't want to play with it. Grossed. Me. Out. He is the best mouser! The other two will run after him when he's chasing one just because he is running, but they won't try to catch it. I told everyone in another thread about it, but I guess they are not impressed because no one said anything. Maybe the idea of a mouse grosses them out. I know it does me. We get maybe 3 when the farmers harvest and it starts getting cold. But it's not as bad as the neighbors. She said she had 75 one year and I totally believe her. Her house is a dump, you have to walk in paths to get somewhere. She even has a ton of yard cats so you'd think they would get them all.
