Kitty didn't stand a chance with me either, but it's amazing how flexible those little legs & claw are... Plus, she finally gave up and just sat there. I actually almost started crying I felt so bad... (OK, I'm pathetic, I know, but I am a serious cat fanatic...).

The kittens I bathed I have held under warm running water in the kitchen sink.

We have a hand held shower head and I just use that. It makes it easy to rinse them.

I bathe my kits once in awhile--they are fine with it. I put warm water with a bit of their shampoo in a large bucket. Then I put the kit in--as long as they can keep their head out of the water they are ok. I wash them then have a second bucket with clear warm water to rinse them. They like being wrapped in the big towel best.

Well, she's here. Bathed, dried, fed and now playing with a piece of velcro. Cats are weird.

Yes, they are, which makes them very entertaining!

So, tell! What does she look like and what did you name her? What did you other kitty 'say' when she saw the baby?

When I got my boy my girl (who I had for about a year )was soooo upset she had dry heaves. I thought I was going to have to give the boy back. After 15 years together she still does not like him but does tolerate him.

I think the only 2 of my girls who really like each other are Phoebe and Asia. Sadie doesn't really like them (and they are both much bigger than her and do tend to get too rough), but they usually tolerate each other - for the most part... I really wish they were all buddies though...

The dog actually gets along with them better than they do each other...

I'm wondering, if we bring a kitten home, whether I should bathe it to get the shelter smell off? Any thoughts?

Just be careful that you don't get any fur on your tongue.

Sorry, old joke. I think I heard while watching Steve Martin in the '70s.

I'm trying to get some pictures, but she's still streaking around the house. She's quite active.

Anyway, we have named her Nishi. She's black with white on her paws and chest. She also has a white stripe down her face with a black spot in the middle of it. She's pretty cute and she's very curious and playful. Bijou is just watching her and when she gets two close Bijou lets out a nice long hiss. Nishi has already found all the toys and she's playing with them, which is cool because Bijou has always refused to play with anything.

Thanks. I'm currently sitting on the chair with one cat beside me and the other behind me. Now that's what I call progress!

I've had a lot of cats in my lifetime, but I've never had one that made itself at home the way Nishi has. She hasn't even lived here 24 hours yet and she acts like she's lived here for always. I'm pleased because she has used the litter box several times, no accidents.

This cat is microchipped, by the way. I've never had a microchipped pet before.

New kitty woke me up at 6:45. She's been running around like a banshee ever since. She's figured out how to climb up on the dining room table, where I caught her batting at flowers in a large vase that could easily have fallen over and broken. She keeps trying to climb the curtains. I forgot what it was like to have a baby animal in the house. And I'm so tired.

Nishi is very pretty! She looks a lot like Mr. Roosevelt did at that age (now he is a corpulent tub of lard )

She also acts like him. We had grass cloth on a wall, and he discovered that he could walk right up to the ceiling--which only worked when he was small. After he started growing, he would get half way up and fall off. He never figured out why . He still tries, once in a while.

I'm still tired. Nishi apparently thinks I'm her mother. If I walk anywhere, she stays in between my feet, which is nerve wracking. If I sit down, she has to rub her face all over my face and she can't seem to settle down unless she is huddled on my chest. I'm looking forward to the day that she is a corpulent tub of lard.
