jsel2545 -> Love one another/love God. (1/26/2008 7:43:42 AM)

I encourage everyone here(everywhere) to love one another/God. God(Spirit) is Love. Love is God......It is Finished.

I second that word. Would that I were better at it...

*ahem*
That isn't quite correct. Love is not God. I love my fiancee, but my love for her is not God. I love my friends and family, but that's not God, either.
Or to put it another way - there's a verse in Scripture that says God is light - but that doesn't mean light is also God, right? If it were, we could all be worshiping light bulbs. ; )

So, I appreciate the spirit of your message. I just feel it's important that we don't turn God into something He's not in our minds.

I believe the easiest way to tell if someone is a true and genuine Christian Is If they love people. Love entails being friendly, loving, kind, giving priority to others and putting them ahead of us, staying humble, treating others as equals, being hospitable toward others, loving them Unconditionally, loving them in the same way we love ourselves.

Jesus summarized it very cleverly when He said: "A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." (John 13:34-35).

Blessings!

God's first most dominate charactoristic is holiness. I say this because too often "God is love" has been used to justify accepting lifestyles which are openly against the Word of God. Also if love was God's most dominate charactoristic then He would not have condemned Adam's sin. Love would forgive without the need of justice. There would be no hell, no penalty for sin, no cross, because there would be no righteous standard of justice.
