Yay! its so lovely....I do remeber now about you posting that place but I didnt know you decided on it or not...I know you kept looking at all kinds of places, I seems the photographers here are very pricey...when I went to wedding festival their was like 20 of them lol my FH dad can take great pics but we dont want him to so he can enjoy the wedding and all..

Mrs.Above_All -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (2/16/2008 10:43:36 PM)

Yeah my dad actually wants to take video. I don't think so! lol

Bayer Estate for the ceremony...Possibly Roy's restaurant for the reception (private room). On Monday I take my Aunty to go choose her dress (Matron of Honor) and we go to Roy's to look at their room. I may also have a cake appt. next week as well!

fluffmonkey -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (2/18/2008 3:16:12 PM)

I have been trying to think of things to do at a reception like maybe some fun games, or something different... Right now trying to figure out how many is going to come.... if its a small amount may just have a nice dinner or if its a large amount may have alot finger foods, games and such... which im thinking its going to be a larger amount...but we may change that not sure about it yet.

I have been thinking about having an outdoor reception and near the end of reception have everyone write something on a their own heart balloon and then we all let them go at same time.

I have a lot to think about...lol but im getting ideas.

abby_girl -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (2/18/2008 5:26:48 PM)

I think for flowers I'm going to pick colors that come out of the stained glass in the beautiful sanctuary!! It's going to be LOVELY. What are you ladies doing??

I know my dress is awesome. But I think I'm having second-thought dress regrets. I don't know. I've heard everyone has a little panic time if it's been a while since they had it on. I know I LOVED IT in the store. The price was really good (for a designer store dress -- $640!) and it fits me perfectly off the rack. I think I just need to see it. It will probably feel just fine when it comes in and I put it on.

Mrs.Above_All -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (2/19/2008 4:18:30 AM)

Oh I'm sure the dress will look great Abby. [:)] As for flowers and color it will be pink. My colors will be chocolate brown and pink so pink flowers. Of course whites and greens can be in there too to compliment the pink. There's a very nice cream and pink orchid that I am thinking about and I would love to pair that with either roses or frilly tulips for my bouquet.

Fluff I have to say that I am enjoying the smaller size because I am able to go more all out and formal since it's less cost overall. And the balloon idea sounds very original!

Ok, so tomorrow Tuesday, I officially book both my ceremony and reception location. Next week, a cake appt. Today we chose and ordered my matron of honor's dress. I also bought my tiara and veil. The tiara looks beautiful with that dress I chose! Oh and DF and I bought our wedding rings! They are nice and the price was really great. The next big thing is to find me a decent photographer and to visit the florist.

fluffmonkey -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (2/20/2008 5:13:59 PM)

I find myself leaning towards the smaller size I would like a nice sit down dinner...with close people...But at same time I have alot people from church I want to come.... and I hate to have a big church wedding and small reception... so we need to just really sit down and think about the people... plus the cost what would be best for us.

Mrs.Above_All -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (2/24/2008 11:15:08 PM)

Bump...

Maybe I should copy the Table of Contents from the other thread? lol Let me go look for it.

Mrs.Above_All -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (2/26/2008 2:23:34 PM)

It's been quiet lately.

Well the cake tasting and consultation is done! It was a lot of fun and we should be getting a design sent to us in about a few weeks. DF was so funny. He really enjoyed it and got all possessive over the samples. lol! But here is the website for the cake place Our cake will sort of be like cake #60, except it will be cherry blossom flowers instead. The branches will be piped but the flowers will be sugar. And instead of dragonflies we will have butterflies. Brown branches, pink flowers, a very light pink fondit. [:)]

Just need to vent a little...None of DF's brothers are able to make it to the wedding so we asked my uncle if he could be best man. He accepted. I e-mailed him to ask for his address and he replied by adding that he doesn't do tux or even suit. He's a joking kind of guy so I thought he was joking and joked back with him. Well to my surprise, he wasn't and proceeded to send me a rather childish e-mail about not wanting to wear a tux. He then proceeded to say things like, "Why this and why that. Our wedding was so and so and our marriage turned out fine, yadda, yadda, yadda..." I was shocked and confused. I responded in a firm, yet gentle way, expressing how disappointed I was because it gave me the impression that it was all about him and not us. I am experiencing a few disappointing things with my Aunt as well, who is Matron of Honor.

Anyhoo...

I find it so disappointing when family members become the least supportive people in your life. I would rather not have any wedding party at all than one that doesn't understand how special their roles are. The wedding is a very Holy time, coming before G-d to seek His favor in marriage. We decided to chose a family member to be in the party because choosing just one friend would have been difficult. But if I am going to have a wedding party at all, I would love it to be people who will actually understand their role and who would truly be there to support both DF and I. I don't want parties who will just show up, be in the pictures and help only when asked. kwim? Has anyone else out there experienced this? What did you do?

FunBetty -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (2/26/2008 2:48:38 PM)

That stinks, Trishy.

I say go with your heart and make the wedding the way you and John envision it. I've had one set of friend have their wedding party consist of matron of honor (her mom) and best man (his dad?). They didn't have any other attendants so as to not exclude anyone.

sharonjef2007 -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (2/26/2008 7:56:03 PM)

Well Trish, you are not going to please everyone. The best thing to do is what you and John want for YOUR day.

I may even have a bit of a heart to heart with your aunt and uncle. Let them know what you are expecting of them and if they are not willing to comply joyfully, ask someone else. While your wedding day will be wonderful, you don't need the extra stress of not wanting to step on toes or have people complain about what you wanted them to wear.

nevaehs_gaze -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (2/26/2008 10:34:30 PM)

Ooo, I can almost join! My boyfriend sent me out on an "errand" today to find out my ring size. He says "soon", but who knows if soon means weeks or months. We're planning to be married either by the end of summer or the beginning of fall. [:D]

fluffmonkey -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (2/27/2008 11:26:39 AM)

((Trish!)) Your cake is going to be lovely, I have an idea of the company I want to use, Just not sure what I want the cake to look like.. Trish I am sorry that your aunt and uncle are being that way...I think you should set them down and have a talk with them... if they arent willing to be apart of what you want they I wouldnt worry about having them in the wedding party...The wedding is for you and John!!

Nevaehs_gaze- ^_^ you will have to tell us when he proposes to you!

Mrs.Above_All -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (2/27/2008 4:51:20 PM)

Congrats navaeh! [:D]

Thanks everyone for your encouragement. My mom stepped in and called my uncle and he's supposed to call back to let us know. He hasn't called back yet and she already called a good friend of her's to ask her husband as a backup. lol. So it looks like my parents are going to take care of it for me. I figured I just let them handle this since it's someone on our side that we are looking for. John doesn't know anyone well enough to make a personal decision so perhaps its best if my family finds a person for him. My parents are adamant that if my uncle doesn't want to wear a tux or suit that someone else should do it. I told them that it wasn't about the apparel really but just the overall attitude in general that confuses me. So to them, no tux means an unwillingness to support the couple. There are less problems with my aunt so no worries there.

Anyhoo...if my parent's are handling it then I can just focus on rest of the planning.

Ordered my invitations yesterday! We just ordered the main invitation and figured we save some money if we made our own rsvp cards. We may also stick in a map with directions in there as well. Just gotta find some nice paper and print it out myself! Gotta still do save the date cards too. That should be easy.

nevaehs_gaze -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (2/27/2008 11:34:26 PM)

Thanks! I'll be sure to let you all know. [:)]

fluffmonkey -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (2/28/2008 10:47:06 AM)

Trish, how wonderful of your parents to step up and help you out... now thats less to worry about...and you can continue planning your wedding...

I am thinking about making my own invitations...my fh's dad could get them printed for us..and I could add little touches to them to make them nice... I dont know that may change...I have all kinds of little ideas in my mind...but who know how things will turn out...atm

Mrs.Above_All -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (3/2/2008 1:32:40 AM)

Bumpity, Bump. lol

Approved my prof for the wedding invitation today. I also saw something that would be very nice for the arbor. A butterfly garland! I'm going to try to find that online to see if it's cheaper and to show you. It's really pretty. It's a nice alternative to flowers on the arbor.

Tall_geena -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (3/2/2008 12:14:03 PM)

daughter is getting married soon, and she is thin as a pole and a full 56 inches taller than hubbie to be. any ideas about how to minimize the height difference for the ceremony?

Mrs.Above_All -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (3/2/2008 2:10:36 PM)

Hmm, I think even flats won't make much of a difference. You could try various camera angles and poses for pics or she can get a dress that's quite simple with a softer fabric and he can wear a white tux or white suit. Other than that not much else can be done. I think the guests though won't really focus on the height difference. [:)]

Mrs.Above_All -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (3/3/2008 12:58:22 AM)

John and I had a wonderful meeting with our Rabbi! I really enjoyed it. It was our second marriage counseling and we also talked about the ceremony. We will most likely have a ceremony with elements of both traditional Christian and Messianic. Traditional Christian really is "Messianic" per se because it all comes from both the old and new testaments. The main difference is that the Messianic style has more Hebrew flavor to it. Our Rabbi is going to send us some information about Messianic ceremonies so that we can choose how to incorporate it in. One thing is for sure, we want the blowing of the Shofar!

Another Hebraic wedding tradition is for the bride and groom to each write a more detailed version of their vows and to sign it. Rabbi said that many decorate their written vows very beautifully. In which case, I will custom frame it.

Two very nice additions...the wedding company our Rabbi works with has a photographer. And he offered to have his son play the keyboard and sing for our ceremony! Yay!

fluffmonkey -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (3/3/2008 11:41:32 AM)

Tall_geena I dont think flats will make much of differance either... yes the camera angles can help too but not sound rude or anything but why does this matter? Anyone who already knows them knows she is taller then him...I believe people will be looking past their height differences and focus on what is going on...the cermony! 2 people in love coming togther before God!!

Trish that sounds wonderful!!!

56 inches??? That is almost 4 feet. Is it really that big of a deal for him? If you are getting married and there are steps, she could stand one step down and that would take about 6 inches off.

When I married my first husband, he is only an inch shorter than me. He wore his boots instead of the shoes they give you with your tux. They were nice boots, but he did tell me that if I chose to wear heels, he would not walk back down the isle with me. I should have known then my marriage was doomed. But anyway, I had already decided that because of the day and all that I was going to be doing, I wore ballet slippers. Then at the reception, I had a pair of brand new never before worn white isatoner(sp) slippers because they had that cushy feeling so my feet didn't feel as sore.

It did keep my husband happy, and my feet were happy too. I think I would have died if I wore heels that day.

Tall_geena -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (3/5/2008 3:05:47 PM)

the 56 inches was a typo! I am so sorry..it was supposed to be 6 inches! anyways, since the wedding and reception will be at a relative's house, the husband will be wearing boots and my daughter will be competey barefoot throughout the whole day. i know it wont cure the problem completely, but hey, she is like me, she goes barefoot all the time..i always joked with her she was going to get married barefoot, and here she is...LOL

ah ookay, well if he is wear boots and she is going barefoot... that will help some ^_^ so it really shouldnt be that noticeable at all.

So whens the big date?

Mrs.Above_All -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (3/6/2008 3:04:01 PM)

Ladies, I started an engagement support thread in the Relationships folder. Go check it out!

I'm having some trouble with finding that photographer. There has been two so far that haven't gotten back to me. I find that strange. Maybe on vacation or really busy? If I don't hear from them soon I'm going to try another one...a client at where I work.

Akmcmichael -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (3/6/2008 3:29:20 PM)

Hi ladies! I'm getting married in May and am SO excited!! I just about have everything planned, so now it's just the WAIT!
