Thanks! 28 days to go!

sharonjef2007 -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (4/13/2008 5:15:00 PM)

Congrats Dawn!!!!

Wow....lots of weddings for 2008 around here.

Not too much new going on with my wedding planning. We were able to go to the store and pick up our rings, so that is good.

I'm more concerned about finding a place for us and our pets to live once we are married then I am the wedding.... Sheesh....!!!!!!!!

fluffmonkey -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (4/14/2008 1:23:23 AM)

I hope you find a place soon ^_^
good luck!

sharonjef2007 -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (4/14/2008 4:42:10 PM)

thanks fluff!

Ok....let's talk about the wedding ceremony. I would like a very simple ceremony. I think we are going to do the sand thingy insead of the unity candle.

Did you do or are you doing anything original during the ceremony?

fluffmonkey -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (4/14/2008 5:12:33 PM)

Hmm I want a simple ceremony as well, I like the sand thing too it seems interesting, the wedding I last went to had the unity candles. which dont get me wrong is nice but the sand you can keep *shrugs*

sharonjef2007 -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (4/14/2008 8:03:35 PM)

Yup...and I like that with the sand, you can have 3 colors, one of which represents God's foundation for our lives and marriage. That part is missing from the unity candles.

dawntreader -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (4/14/2008 8:05:24 PM)

We are doing the sand thing because our ceremony is outdoors.

sharonjef2007 -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (4/14/2008 8:10:41 PM)

Cool.

Ok...is anyone doing communion?

sharonjef2007 -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (4/14/2008 8:23:02 PM)

Ok...so I thought it would be cool to do a countdown on this thread like they do over in the baby having thead. So, if I miss you or get your date wrong, just let me know and I can change it.

Akmcmichale.............May ???
dawntreader..............May 9, 2008
RansomedHeart.........May 31, 2008
abby_girl...................July ???
nebaehs_gaze...........July 12, 2008
sharonjef2007...........August 23, 2008
aboveAll...................August 30, 2008

fluffmonkey....Do you have a date set yet?

Ok....and then after the weddings, we can come in and give our report on the day to help those whos dates are still on the way.

fluffmonkey -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (4/15/2008 10:13:27 AM)

No I do not have a date set yet [sm=worried.gif]

Mrs.Above_All -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (4/15/2008 1:21:13 PM)

Ours is an outdoor wedding as well so we may also do the sand.

For the ceremony we definitely want the shofar blown. We haven't decided what other Messianic elements we want to add yet. We also plan to play a song right before the vows. It will most likely be the Hawaiian Wedding Song. [:)]

Nice list Sharon! Way ta go! [sm=thumbsup.gif]

I came up with a new favor idea and I don't know why I didn't come up with this idea before. We thought it would be cool to have elements of where we are both from. So the favors may contain something that represents Hawaii and something that represents Cleveland. So far for Cleveland, we may order popcorn balls from there. John said they are a childhood favorite. As for a Hawaii element, there's lot's of things we can have but funny enough it's harder to decide when you have so many things to choose from.

sharonjef2007 -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (4/15/2008 7:00:53 PM)

Fluff....no worries! We can keep you on the list as a TBD.....[;)]

Trish....Cool ideas for the favors. My mom and godmother are going to do my favors. They normally are a small thing of mints that is themed with something regarding the couple. I think they may do something computer related since we met online.

nevaehs_gaze -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (4/16/2008 8:26:19 AM)

Sigh. Our date hasn't been officially decided on yet either. [>:] The church has changed their availability twice since they confirmed with us that they were OPEN all of July. As it turns out, practically none of my cousins can make a July wedding anyway, so it looks like the date will either be June 21st or August 23rd of this year. We'll base that on another important decision we are making - moving out of the country!! An opportunity to teach English in Japan (my old school) has recently come up and we are praying about taking the jobs because it's something we had planned to do next year anyway... just a bit sooner!! If that's the case, June 21st will our wedding day! [:D]

fluffmonkey -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (4/16/2008 11:03:48 AM)

Trish thats neat idea for favors

ty Sharon

Nevaehs_gaze, dont worry everything will work out and btw that is awesome that you have the Oppertunity to go teach in Japan. I would like to go to Japan some day.

I was a bride a while back [:)] and am coming out of lurking to say that we just moved from Japan! Did you go to school on Okinawa? If you're moving there, I know of a couple of really great churches with lots of young couples. How exciting that you might be beginning your marriage in such an amazing setting!

By the way, I LOVE reading about all of your wedding details! We did the unity candle thing and in my exuberance to "redo" it for the pictures, I caught part of my dress on fire. Wish I had known about the sand option -- it sounds lovely!

Best of luck to y'all!

nevaehs_gaze -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (4/17/2008 8:24:37 AM)

I meant to comment on the sand/unity candle idea yesterday and ran out of time before work. [;)] I was in favor of using sand, as it could more easily displayed, however, I came upon a neat idea of re-using the candle at the reception - at the end of which, we will leave the option of having guests light a candle of their own from our candle to represent how each of us are a part of each other in some way, or have contributed to our lives in being a part of our day, then we will say a prayer and the pastor give the send-off blessing.

And the school is in Hagi, Yamaguchi prefecture. I taught there three years ago. We should hear from the lead teacher later today about the meeting she had with the owner yesterday. Okinawa would be great! I hear it's very beautiful there. [:)]

dawntreader -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (4/18/2008 11:31:42 AM)

Ooh, I really like that candle idea. Very creative.

Right now my issue is that today is our RSVP deadline - and I've only received 32 responses out of 55!

But we still have a week before we give the caterer the final count, so hopefully some more will trickle in this week before I have to start making calls.

Eeek, so much left to do!

fluffmonkey -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (4/18/2008 1:09:24 PM)

I know its easy to be nervous but you still have some time before they have to get them in and dont be suprised if few rsvp come the day after lol

Mrs.Above_All -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (4/21/2008 4:14:46 PM)

Thanks Jen! [:D] Sorry that I procrastinated on the copy and pasting. [:D]

But yeah, the list is a good one we can use again.

So let's see. We finally completed one of our registries online and are going to do a second one soon. Williams Sonoma and Macys. Oh and we decided what song to play when I walk down the aisle. Anyone see Madea's Family Reunion? The song in the wedding scene was called You for Me and I love that song. We are going to play that. Then we are going to play the Hawaiian Wedding Song right before we say the vows. [:)] As we proceed at the end of the ceremony, I'm going to have the Rabbi play a Messianic praise and worship song. [:)]

nevaehs_gaze -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (4/21/2008 10:46:46 PM)

Sounds like it will be a beautiful ceremony!

We're definitely going to need some help with our music selections. [8D]

fluffmonkey -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (4/22/2008 12:32:29 AM)

no problem Trish, I have seen that movie lol, it sounds like your selection is going to be great!

I am not sure about music either nevaehs-gaze

dawntreader -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (4/25/2008 2:27:56 PM)

fluffmonkey -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (4/25/2008 3:08:12 PM)
