Actually they were not decorating a tree as such. It was a tree that had been cut down and made into a pagan idol by the craftsmen. Then it was covered in gold and silver. This argument is used often to say having a Christmas tree is a sin.

I think artificial trees are a sin, because they are a likeness of something that is under heaven.

This was not the modern Christmas tree. And we don't worship the Christmas tree. Whatever they were doing then, that was then and this is now. How do you know it ia not a pine tree? or what tree it was. So the Bible is not revelent for now? It says do not do as heathens do. quote:
Actually they were not decorating a tree as such. It was a tree that had been cut down and made into a pagan idol by the craftsmen so the cutting down of pine trees is not the cutting down of a tree? Where in the Bible does it say celebrate Christmas? It lists Festivals to celebrate, I don't find Christmas among them, the early Church people did not. Not even those that were with Jesus when He walked the earth.

A pine tree? It was most likely a cyprus tree. BTW, Christmas trees aren't pine trees either. Your post is not clear to me. Are you implying it is sinful to cut down a pine tree? There is no command to celebrate the Festival of Lights anymore than there is a biblical command to celebrate Easter. It is something we do to honor the Lord, or as some do, the season, or as some do, the mall.

NO, I am implying that it is sinful to cut down a tree, and decorate in gold and silver garland, popcorn, ornaments, put it in you house for several weeks, admire it, call your friends & family over to see it, have your children staring at the pretty lights, believing Santa Claus is gonna come to bring them some junk they don't need. the verse says: Jer 10:2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. Jer 10:3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. Jer 10:4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. quote:

Exo 12:14 And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever. Exo 34:22 And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year's end 2Ch 8:13 Even after a certain rate every day, offering according to the commandment of Moses, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts, three times in the year, even in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles. what we got is: Tell everyone the easter bunny is coming with santa claus on a witches broom to bring candy and gifts, the goblins have candy also to bring, say trick or treat to him! while were at it tell everyone that Columbus "discovered " america, so we can celebrate that along with the americans became free from the english, And we can celebrate the slaughter of Natives by having a turkey, tell them to hurry up 'cause the tooth fairy, santa claus, easter bunny, Columbus, the goblins & witches are all waiting to CELEBRATE.

Jeremiah 10 1Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: 2Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. 3For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. 4They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. 5They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good. 6Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy name is great in might. 7Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee. 8But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is a doctrine of vanities. 9Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of cunning men. 10But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation. As Qtman said: quote:
ORIGINAL: Qtman Actually they were not decorating a tree as such. It was a tree that had been cut down and made into a pagan idol by the craftsmen. Then it was covered in gold and silver. This argument is used often to say having a Christmas tree is a sin. If it's wrong to have a tree in the house, one should not have a ficus tree, nor any other house plant. If it's wrong to allow your friends to admire a tree(not that I ever ask that), don't show them the pretty flowers in your garden, your new car, or the dress you made last week. Psalm 90 17And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it. Psalm 1 3And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water... 1 Kings 7 10And the foundation was of costly stones, even great stones, stones of ten cubits, and stones of eight cubits. 11And above were costly stones, after the measures of hewed stones, and cedars. 12And the great court round about was with three rows of hewed stones, and a row of cedar beams, both for the inner court of the house of the LORD, and for the porch of the house.

This is a far cry from celebrating the birth of Christ! At Thanksgiving, we give thanks to God for our many blessings just as we do the other days of the year. At Christmas, we celebrate the birth of Christ just as the angels and shepherds did. O come, O come, Emmanuel, And ransom captive Israel, That mourns in lonely exile here Until the Son of God appear. Refrain Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel. O come, Thou Wisdom from on high, Who orderest all things mightily; To us the path of knowledge show, And teach us in her ways to go. Refrain O come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free Thine own from Satan’s tyranny; From depths of hell Thy people save, And give them victory over the grave. Refrain O come, Thou Day-spring, come and cheer Our spirits by Thine advent here; Disperse the gloomy clouds of night, And death’s dark shadows put to flight. Refrain O come, Thou Key of David, come, And open wide our heavenly home; Make safe the way that leads on high, And close the path to misery. Refrain O come, O come, great Lord of might, Who to Thy tribes on Sinai’s height In ancient times once gave the law In cloud and majesty and awe. Refrain O come, Thou Root of Jesse’s tree, An ensign of Thy people be; Before Thee rulers silent fall; All peoples on Thy mercy call...

It's also my daughter's birthday. She's seven years old, and she's the first baby I gave birth to on Crosswalk.
