Daniel, you can block most of the bad stuff. They have added features that make it very difficult for spammers to send you friend requests. Once I activated some of those features, the spam requests that I used to get everyday stopped.

I don't have problems with unwanted friend requests or e-mail either. There are some very mildly racy advertisements sometimes but I don't have a problem with them.

Yes, same here. you just have to activate the block features on there. Before i did that, which i didnt know about, i was getting all these friend invites from hoochie cootchie girls! LOL.

I'll echo what everybody else is saying. When I first created my page I went forever before I did anything with it. During that time I was getting some pretty racy friend requests and such, but after I updated my page and added all the security features now I don't have any problems.
I do agree with you Daniel, I also wish that FaithCommunityNetwork would enhance our profile page. A sports forum on which I post sometimes has that feature and a lot of people have profile pages that look very much like myspace pages.

I've been avoiding it for years. But yesterday, when I found a friend's profile (someone I haven't heard from in years), I decided to join. Come to find out, I've found several friends from my childhood! I'm just waiting for some of them to contact me back! Of course, I've already started to add friends from here on the forums! I'm already starting to like this!
So go ahead and join... you never know who you'll run across!
Edit: Just so everyone knows, my work's web filter blocks myspace, but I'll be on in the evenings! (and some early mornings!

I have had a myspace for about a year or so, a lot of the southern gospel groups have a myspace, its just what you make it to be. Its just like my dishnetwork there are things I don't watch because its not good but then there is also some good things on there. All I can say is try it if you don't like it then delete it. And it is a good way to get your group or company or product advertised for free. LOL LOL And you can go to my page and see what I look like and then you may say the rooster looks better. LOL

Daniel, it really is a good way to keep up with people and to share your ministry. You can share pictures, stories, when something big happens you can send out bulletins to all your friends. I really like it. It helps me keep up with people I otherwise haven't seen in years.

LOL It was a accident!!! About the only ones on my friend list is family, southern gospel singers, and some CCM groups and people from the singing news southern gospel folder. Just did not know who you was, you know you got to be careful who you add if you don't know who it is, could be some bad stuff LOL

One of the newest features that I like is that you can put a comment into your friend request. If I send a request to someone, I can tell them which of our common friends I might have linked from or tell them I'm a member of the forums, etc., so it makes it easier to approve. I don't just approve every request that I get either. I usually go to the person's space and see what kinds of things they have posted there before I approve them. But you can also delete a friend any time you need to.

Even though I haven't updated the graphics on my myspace page yet (I'm still learning), I have provided a link to my blog on my profile page. The actual blog is not on myspace because I'd already started posting on it before joining. Now, my blog isn't SG specific, although there will be SG related stuff from time to time.
Just thought I'd share!

I use that feature too. If I send a request to someone from here, I always put "I'm Jeff from Kentucky on the SN forums" so they know it isn't a spam request.
