cwize -> RE: Can Drums Be a worship instrument (2/11/2008 1:20:53 AM)

Once upon a time, there was a young Christian who thought that the music at his church was boring. Too stodgy, not "real". So, he set out to write some of his own. He was roundly condemned, they said his music was of the devil. He persevered anyway... Oh, his name? Martin Luther. Dedicate your instrument to the Lord and let the closed-minded prattle on about backbeats, jungle pagan rhythms, and the like. It isn't just drums! Many things have been deemed "inappropriate" at best, such as: Minor Keys, Guitars (acoustic and most certainly electric), Electronic Keyboards (although in the case of electronic organs I might agree -- Hammond B3 with Leslie cabinet excepted, of course), Video projection, theater style seats, Jeans... well, you get the picture. Worship is personal AND corporate. If your corporate worship environment says 'no drums' then find one that says 'wail away'.
