"The Rock's Between The Hard Place And You" is my favorite song from True To The Call. I like those songs that kick it up a notch. In my opinion, it was the obvious choice from the album for the initial single. The public...as a whole...is always going to say they like the slow songs best...but imagine if every artist released only slow songs to radio. That would get boring in a hurry.

"I've Been Rescued" is probably my favorite Kingdom Heirs song that is of the slower paced variety.

Well this guy from the public sure wouldn't say he liked slow songs better! [:D] The best songs from "True To The Call" (IMO) were the following:

1. What We Needed
2. Looking Out For You
3. I Want You To Know
4. The Rock's Between The Hard Place And You

All of the above are faster-paced songs. I dread hearing slow song after slow song on a new project. I think about 2/3 of the songs on an album should be a variety of faster songs.

I gotta agree with youngartist on this one. I've always liked the more up tempo songs better. Not just from the Kingdom Heirs, but from all my favorite groups.

I agree with you both...........slow songs tend to bore me.

youngartist -> RE: The Kingdom Heirs Thread (3/19/2008 11:36:14 AM)

Well that's 3 out of 3! [:D]

Dinana -> RE: The Kingdom Heirs Thread (3/19/2008 11:40:25 AM)

Sorry, you guys. I've got to break the streak!!! I really enjoy slow songs. How about Forever Changed, Anchor of Hope, He Had to Rise, and He's Already in Your Tomorrow.

I loved "Forever Changed" but usually pass on the other 3.

Dinana -> RE: The Kingdom Heirs Thread (3/19/2008 11:43:41 AM)

One of my very favorites is He's Already in Your Tomorrow. But all of these were pretty big songs for the KH.

LRBB -> RE: The Kingdom Heirs Thread (3/19/2008 11:44:48 AM)

Make that 4 out of 4.

While there are a lot of slow songs that I love, I prefer that the majority of an album to be up tempo. In fact my top 3 songs from True to the Call would be the same as youngartist's. I would then place a slow song ("I Sing Because") at #4 and drop "The Rock's Between the Hard Place and You" to #5.

Yea, but take "Now I Am On My Way To Heaven," "I Know I'm Going There," "Going On With The Song," "What We Needed," "Mighty Deep Well," "I've Passed Over," and "The Depths Of The Father's Love!" [:D]

Seaton -> RE: The Kingdom Heirs Thread (3/19/2008 11:48:34 AM)

Oh man, "He Had To Rise" is one powerhouse tune and one of my all time favorite KH songs. I remember when I first purchased that CD when it first came out. I had it on in the car and I was having myself a time. That song blew me away.

Dinana -> RE: The Kingdom Heirs Thread (3/19/2008 11:48:35 AM)

I know - I know!!! All I'm saying is that slow songs can make good radio singles, too.

"He Had to Rise" is my favorite all time SG song. It's the reason that I am a Kingdom Heirs and an Arthur Rice fan. We are planning on singing it Sunday for Easter service. I know that I can't do it justice compared to Arthur Rice, but then again not many people can.

I think this is why I love the Kingdom Heirs so much. Not only are they great on the up tempo songs, but they can also slow it down with songs like "He Had to Rise","Forever Changed" and "I've Been Rescued" and still blow me away.

I know. We haven't been on as much together lately. What's up with that?

Exactly. They have the best of both worlds. [:)]

I'll just say this: If Brian decides to just hit the road with only 4 guys and no instrumentalists (not even his uber-talented son) then chances are KHQ will become my favorite group. And that's saying a LOT.

Hmmm...all the pencil-pushing, essay-writing, case-reading legal mumbo-jumbo must have me delirious.

Like I said, I must be delirious today.

BRBB -> RE: The Kingdom Heirs Thread (3/19/2008 12:28:49 PM)

Youngartist we would welcome you into the fold.

LRBB -> RE: The Kingdom Heirs Thread (3/19/2008 12:33:15 PM)

That's right Tyler, we would be proud to call you a fellow Heirhead.[:D]

No reason to second guess yourself. My current favorite artists sometimes change daily.[:D]

youngartist -> RE: The Kingdom Heirs Thread (3/19/2008 3:39:56 PM)

I feel so welcome. [:D] (but am I welcome to the delirious fold, or the Heirhead fold? Or both?) Time will tell whether Brian gets another player. Here's the test: If he doesn't get the band going by NQC consider my favorite to officially be the Kingdom Heirs.

This will be interesting to watch!
