(mods...there is a thread already that was started talking about this movie being trash, but I didn't want this thread to be on that...so if you feel it's a duplicate then that's ok...I just wanted a place for this new series and to talk about it and the characters and story lines)

My hubby is so excited that this series is coming back. We watched the movie last night...and plan to keep watching the series every week. Anyone else watching it?

Edited to clerify OP....
The other thread was obviously (according to the title) a negative thread about the movie itself. So if you have negative comments related just to the movie please refer them to that thread. This thread is about the good and bad points of the movie in regard to it being a series...which we do not know yet if it will be. So as long as the comments are in regard to the movie as a series starter, or about the movie and characters in regard to the former series (comparison to it) or about the characters that will come to play if it is picked up as a series, then it's on topic here.

since the other thread is about the movie and this is about the series it's two different topics :) I think it's fine.

I don't think a full series has been greenlighted yet, has it?
From everything I heard the movie was considered a "backdoor pilot"... in other words, a freestanding movie with an opening for a TV series left at the end big enough to fly the FLAG C-130 through.

Speaking of the movie, I thought they did about as good a job of putting together a "classic series" revival vehicle as any I've seen recently. The only issue I had with it is that the whole "bash Blackwater" plot is getting old.

I don't have a clue if a series is final or not....I haven't heard. I just know my hubby said that, so that's what I was going by.

We could know as soon as Friday depending on the ratings last night. I thought it was good, and I liked the Hoff's cameo. The only things was that the new KITT voice (Val Kilmer) seemed a little too unfeeling. William Daniels was able to give emotion to the first KITT's voice, and you'd forget that it was a CPU. Made me want to see fotage with Arnet's voice to compare. I think they made it belevable about Tracuer being MK's son, and unlike other movies of this type, he wasn't an unkown kid.

The fact of Val Kilmer being the voice of KITT is probably the only reason I'd watch it.

The remakes of several of these old shows did not do well for reasons.

Maybe this one will break that pattern.

yeah I too love his voice. KITT seems to be a ditz head this time around....if it becomes a series I really hope they put more wit into his lines...he really needs more depth like the previous character had. I guess that comes with experience though...this car really only has "book knowledge" and not much life skills or knowledge so maybe that is planned like that for a reason.

I have removed off topic posts. If you want to talk about how bad the movie was, we do have a thread running here NBC Knight Rider Movie = trash

From the OP of this thread
quote:

there is a thread already that was started talking about this movie being trash, but I didn't want this thread to be on that...I just wanted a place for this new series and to talk about it and the characters and story lines

If you want to talk about how bad the movie was, use the other thread. This thread is to talk about the series and the characters that are spun off from the movie.

Sincerely
Kath

It hasn't been decided and if it goes it'll be nearly a year before it begins, I think.

We enjoyed the movie last night. It was true to the original in that it was redeemed by its effects, but then, the acting is not usually good in a pilot because the characters haven't gelled with one another yet.

I loved the movie I think the voice for KITT was great too. I hope it becomes a series. The best thing about it is how actors tend to get better as a show progresses.

Saw portions of the new Knight Rider and, of course, it's not as good as the original. What's next? A remake of Airwolf? Actually...that might be kinda cool...

My sister and I watched the movie together it was fantastic . The most difficult adjustment we had to make, was the adjustment to KITT's voice but eventually we could get accustomed to that. We both thought that the movie was the prelude to the new series but if it was I guess they would have put adverts about the season's premiere during the movie.

I was hoping to see in Sunday's TV Guide the first season's show at the same time as the movie (10 pm) for us (9pm) for other folks. But from reading the comments on this thread it seems that they haven't decided on a season's show yet - Awww! Bummer!!!!! But we loved eveything about the movie and the ending was just absolutely FANTASTIC. Wasn't it cool when the truck transformed into a plane. Oh I can hardly wait for the season to start.

P.S. The adverts during the movie were cool too.

I vaguely remember the show. My brothers watched the show growing up. I don't know why I didn't watch it with them.

Yep, DH loved the show as a kid. I remember watching it with my family, too. Remember when there were only 4 channels? We all watched TV together in the living room where the only TV was.

Yup- it would've been reruns. KR was probably about 10 years old or older when Quantum Leap started.
