Reach- I am not sure what a dress size equals, and this would vary depending on height/build/etc. Also, I find that when I am doing strength training in addition to cardio, the dress sizes seems to change quicker than when I am just doing cardio.

I lost another pound. When I lose one more, I will be down a total of 30!!

This week was busy & stressful, and I didn't get as much exercise as I would have liked in, but still met my goal. 5 days I got the full 120 minutes of 60 min "mindful" exercise and 60 minutes of "incidental" exercise (walking, playing, etc in life activities); 1 day I got 60 mins of exercise, but no time for anything "extra"; and 1 day I got only a 15 min walk/jog in and THAT only because I MISSED MY BUS STOP!! That included three days of weights.

I have been eating fairly well, but did go out to lunch with a friend the other day and just ate what I wanted. And last night, I had my ds and his & dd's friends over and made frozen chicken strips and had a Dr. Pepper. But both are such a rare occurances, I wasn't going to be uptight about it.

A dress size is around 10-20 pounds, depending on how you are built. I am short and carry my weight in the middle so a pants size is a little over 10 pounds.

I was working on my pushups too, I can do about the same amount as you. Was going to start the hundred pushups program but it might take me longer than they have planned. LOL

Looks like everyone's doing well!

I gained a 1/2 lb. this week, but given how much I ate and the lack of exercise this week, I'm not too surprised. I'm not depressed about it though, because I went Christmas shopping and tried on pants in a smaller size than I could a couple two-three months ago! I did quite a bit of walking and standing while shopping and drank just a diet coke, so I'm feeling pretty good right now!

As I mentioned in my previous post, I want to lose weight, so I'm gonna do it! I had my high carb cheat day today, with KFC chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, biscuit, coleslaw and diet coke. Tonight, my snack will be a sugar free popsickle, since I ate 6 pieces of Bakers sugar free candy today.

Tomorrow, it's get back on plan and start eating right and exercising at least 10-15 minutes a day at least 6 days a week. I'm going to try to foece myself to do this, no matter how tired, depressed, or discouraged I feel. Being able to wear smaller sizes today showed me that victory over the overeating lusts of the flesh is possible with God!

Melissa, when I first started exercising, I was doing less than 10-15 min/day. I had to force myself to get up and walk to the playground with the kids each day as my exercise (it was a 5 min walk each way). I remember how hard it was for me... but at that time, I told myself "If I don't do it because it is too hard today, it is only going to be harder tomorrow!"

Consistency is the key. If you can't make yourself do at least 10 mins... tell yourself you will do 3 mins just to keep your exercise "appointment." Once you get moving, you will probably want to keep going for the whole 10-15 min, but even if you only do the 3- you kept the routine, so you will be more likely to keep it up the next day.

But now I am able to do 60 mins (or more) at a time with no trouble. I still have days when it is hard to force myself to get started. I also have days when I do my 60 mins, but half-hearted. But I do it, because every step helps me become healthier and I know if I let myself slip "just this once" I could end up back where I was...

It has also helped me A LOT to journal my activity and eating (I just jot the foods down, I don't keep detailed notes about calories, time, etc).

Well I am sort of new to this thread ( think I posted once before here) but want to start more frequently because I want to be held accountable. I want to loose at least 40lbs but dont have a set time frame. Do you guys have specific goals that you set? For example...you plan on losing such and such amount of weight in such and such a time? I think I want to start doing this. I have not lost any weight recently but have mantained my same weight. I have joined a gym and walk to it since its like an 8 minute walk. I consider this my warm up. When I get to the gym, I try to do the treadmill for about 45-90 minutes depending on how I am doing. I try to increase the speed and level as I go, but again this depends on my mood that day. I try to go everyday except Sunday because the gym I go to is open 10-12pm and I cant make that day.

Please pray for me, as I really want to attain my goals this time and feel Gods grace is upon me this time. It helps that I live with my dad now who is very very health conscious and it encouraging. I just want to stop by here and be held accountable. Thanks I will be posting here more frequently.

I do have some loose goals of amounts I want to lose each month... BUT I have found those goals can backfire, because if I miss one, I feel like I have failed. SO, I prefer two kinds of goals:

I set goals for what I will DO, because I have complete control of that. I will exercise X number of hours, X days per week.

And I set small goals for weights I want to reach, but without a time frame. I based these on personal milestones for me.

This way, I am not working toward a huge goal that seems unattainble. Can I lose 50lbs? IDK! Can I lose 10? Sure. So it just turns into losing 10 lbs 5 times.

Timed goals, for me, are too much pressure.

My body will not cooperate with time goals. I can loose 2-3 pounds in one week. Do nothing different the next week and lose nothing.

I've been slowly coming off of my diet hiatus. One week turned into more like 2. By the end of the first week I had picked up about 10 pounds of water weight. Once I started back on the diet, even if not perfectly, I dropped 7 pounds within 24 hours. It just confirms how much my system works better on low carb.

Well, I've been having some trouble sticking to my plan the last few days, but I'm back on it again, not counting the biscuit. The last two days, I've ate over 1 1/2 cups of Deerfield Farms Glacier Mountain Trail Mix. I'm addicted to that stuff and wouldn't have ate it, except that my relative bought it and had me put it in the cupboard, so I fell for the temptation again. I just need to tell myself that I can only eat 1/4 cup of the raisin & nut kind, which is the serving size on the package and be satisfied with that.

Hello!

I did my weigh in today and I have lost 1.6 lbs again! Whoohoo! I could do this every week! And be at my goal in no time. But staying the same or losing is OK with me right now. I am happy that I a doing something right and not taking the extra food at times and going to bed feeling hungry (even though I am not hungry I just have a bad habit) is making a difference.

Well I am off to the gym to run. I got to the gym and had to come home, as I had forgotten my clothes. LOL!

I had a bad day, so here is my confession. I went to a party, where I drank two glasses of fruit punch and two large muffin halves. Then I ate lunch, with sweet potatoes with marshmellows and carrot cake. I've been eating a high amount of carbs today and need to stop.

Tonight, I've decided to stop making excuses, to stop blaming other people for my bad eating habits and take responsibility for my actions. I'm taking charge of my body and what I put in my mouth. I don't want to be sick and fat, don't want diabetes, heart diseases or gain the weight I've lost. I don't want more problems with my foot and end up in a wheelchair because of being too heavy to walk. In short, I DON'T WANT TO DIE!

I have SAD, so it's hard to get motivated to exercise and eat right, but if I want to lose weight, I've got to do it, no matter how I feel. So after I play online games with a relative, I plan to do some exercise and housework and laundry, to keep my mind off my eating failures.

Hi and welcome to the board and this thread, Shaneencl! I so understand that feeling all too well. Right now, I feel like snacking on something sweet, but after I ate today, I better be satisfied with the milk and cheese I had a short time ago.

We're all in this same boat, so you're in good company. I wish you good success on your weight loss journey and will pray for you.

Welcome: shaneencl!

We all understand your situation and we are all here to feel the need to confess so we can get back on track, we share how we are successfully losing weight and we are here to encourage each member who post in this
thread.

I saw my doctor today and he gave me some water pills to see if this will
reduce my blood pressure. Hopefully this will lower my blood pressure and lower my weight too.

My doctor lost 40 some pounds by eating smaller portions than he did before and ate no sugar or foods with sugar. He also works out with weights at the local gym.

Melissa= you are thinking in the right direction.
laura... = my doctor would agree with you, he had to lower his carb too.
reach = you are doing great and your weight is going in the right direction ! Good job!!

We are proud of all you poster! No one said anything about quitting or giving up!! We are all on the road to success to a healthier life!!!

HI all. I'm new here and looking for support and accountability and probably a few ideas along the way. I've recently been on the receiving end of some pretty harsh criticism from every family member about my weight and size. Think long-distance intervention....seriously!!! I'm reeling from all the emotions (anger, resentment embarrassment, frustration, defensiveness to name a few) and now back to fighting the invisible dragons of my past about hanging my worth as a person on what I look like. If I do this I want to do it because it's the right thing to do and I want to do it for my husband and I. Not my mom, not my sister or my brother.

The one good thing that came of all this mess is that my husband and I talked at length and are figuring out a few changes we can do given our limited budget. I've up the intensity of my exercise to about 40 minutes daily and am trying hard to eliminate all simple carbs / anything white. I will be joining a local TOPS group and Weight Watchers online. I hope this will make a difference. I don't know what more to do at the moment. I was bedrest with both my children and told it would be a long road getting the weight off. I was on Depo-Provera and told it makes weight loss difficult. I'm probably a cortisol manuaacturing plant trying to keep three males with ADD/ADHD functioning. It feels like an uphill battle. But I will try yet again.

Currently weight about 217. Want to weigh about 135-140.

Looking forward to lighter days and no more fear of swimsuits and cameras.

Welcome!

This is the right place for you to be and we welcome you to read what others
are finding that has help them meet their goals.

We are a fun bunch and we are each doing what is best for us.

I have long thought that changing our eating habits has to be personal one.
Some of us are not meat eaters and would not like to be limited on our
fruits and vegetables.

Welcome Frazzledmom - I know for me that eating less and watching what I ate, like you mentioned and upping my exercise has helped me. I am not losing quickly, but 1.6 a week so far. So losing is better than gaining.

I had been trying to turn things around, but what really did it was my Dad asked my sister if I was pregnant and not telling them. Ugh thanks Dad. Not that is just fat and I am not running. So since I am going to start trying in April, I need to get in a metter shape than round. :)

Today I ran at the gym. I did 1 hour 10 min of cardio. When I got home, I tried an exercise video on demand. They did the upper body scupting. It was so challenging! So I am going to try the core & lower body scupting. The video is only 20 min, so not that long. I am really pushing myself, but I know I have great muscles under my flab, I just need to bring them out.

I also have a friend at the gym, so we will probably meet at least until I go back to work. So that is fun to have someone to talk to.

Hey BettymackII

Just to clarify-by limiting/eliminating simple carbs I am referring to anything with refined sugar, white flour, white rice, white potatoes and fruit juice. I eat lots of fruits and veggies.

I'm learning to eat a big salad or bowl of raw sliced veggies with hummus sometime every day. I'm actually leaning toward a a vegetarian diet more and more.
