Now he's back on the map with "Ready, Set, Don't Go", which is now a duet for the two. I like his solo version better...Heartfelt from the heart of a dad. I have 3 girls....soon to be five and 8 month old twins...

Most of the posts here are coming from a parent with kids and young teens and like I mentioned before, some of us grew up around silly pop culture and just turned out to be fine parents who loves the Lord. Miley might annoy you right now but once you become a parent and starts raising your kids, there will be more things that you'll be annoyed with -- more than what your sister does --and when that happens, you will miss the joy of parenthood. Barney the dinasaur annoyed the heck out of me and my son just adored him when he was in pre-k but hearing him laugh and sing and dance surely gave joy to my heart. It was Barney then now he likes Miley and loves the Jonas brothers. It's okay not to like Miley but trying to make a stand over this...it's not worth it because this will be over in a year or so. So just relax and just have fun with your sister. 17, thank you. It's funny, no one ever questions my age until I mention my family. Ever. Which is one reason why I've decided I will likely not marry and I definitely do not want kids. I've worked with kids a lot-my mom's a elementary teacher-so I'm not keen on having to deal with that 24/7. And Miley is not exactly my idea of fun. Probably the only thing my sister and I can have fun with together is Super Smash Bros. and Guitar Hero III. I try to stay away from her most of the time.

oh but Guitar Hero is definitely NOT pop music and that's where I think he has the problem. Super smash brothers tho - nothing could be any more pop culture than that! Blessings, Garsy

Here's a link of an older article on how Billy Ray talks about his faith http://www.speroforum.com/site/article.asp?id=888 Billy Ray and Miley's relationship is the opposite of Joe Simpsons (who was a pastor) and the Simpsons girls (Jessica and Ashley).

Corrupted social values come from somewhere, right? Pop culture is the embodiment of moral corruption." I sure don't. Just because I happen to use something that pop culture uses doesn't mean I participate in pop culture. It could be argued that Satan plays a part in black metal (most of which is devoted to Satan and Satan worship), but if I listen to Horde's "Hellig Usvarte," (meaning Holy Unblack, a wholly Christian album through and through) does that make me a Satan worshipper? They're both black metal, right? Same goes for anything else really. The Wii has become a part of pop culture, and so has Halo, but does that mean I participate in pop culture when I play either one? If it does, I'd have to be a monk to avoid pop culture. And in any event, the songs most people enjoy in GHIII, the songs deemed "popular," are the ones I like least. I play the game for songs like "Raining Blood" more than "Rock and Roll All Nite." *shudder*

Oh sure and it's all well and fine as long as something suits your needs and all. It's STILL part of pop culture and your sister is doing the same thing you are - EXCEPT her choices just happen to drive you batty, you don't agree with all the hype AND you simply don't want to be associated with something that is considered mainstream popular. Whatever. My opinion stands: There could be worse things young girls could be listening too. And honestly - I'd rather my dd had Hannah/Miley dolls and whatnot then say Bratz dolls or listening to Ms. Spears (either of them) or emulating Ms. Hilton or any of her crowd. Well since my hubby is tired of me telling him about this thread everyday - I guess I should retire from it and find some better ways to waste my time. Folding laundry comes to mind. It would free me up to dance around the living room with my dd tomorrow with Hannah blaring from the speakers! Blessings, Garsy

Personally I don't approve of the garish amounts of make-up, the skimpy outfits, and the big heads kinda creep me out a bit. Oh and the shoes/feet that keep coming off and getting lost and clogging up my vacumm aren't any fun either! But if someone else allows their children to play with them I'm okay with it. Her myspace photos leaked too, and they are all very.... revealing. Then again, my little sister did the same thing at that age, so I guess it's hard for anyone to avoid.

Actually, it's not hard to avoid. It's called "discernement". Even if she didn't know any better, her father should have.

That and the pictures of her laying nearly naked on top on her boyfriend.... I honestly find nothing at all wrong with her music. It's perfect for the younger generation to listen to, no swearing or suggestive lyrics...because, seriously, you can't expect children and tweens to listen to hymns 24/7, it's not going to happen. What I'm doubtful about is Miley Cyrus herself. We really don't know a thing about her, so who are we to judge whether she gives charity or whatnot? The pictures of her were not made for us to see.

Since Billy Ray was in the studio when these were shot, there is no excuse. If she was my underage daughter, I wouldn't have allowed some of these poses. So much for her clean image. Now how many young girls are going to emulate these photos because if Hannah did them it must be OK? It's too bad that Billy Ray, Miley and this photographer think artistic means sleazy.

I'm sick and tired of those people who claim to be of the faith, yet people claim to be of the faith do things that dishonor God. Miley and Billy Ray should have known better because their actions may be leading and even stumbling some impressionable 15 year old girl like, "Ok if she can do this and compomise her faith, well, I can do it too." You see, being a Christian and even being a leader, which Miley supposed to be, should have a high standard of living and not compomising with the world. Billy Ray and his wife is also at fault too because they are letting this young woman compomise instead of being strong Christian parents which they say they are and put their foot down. I hope and pray that all of them get bibical counseling and learn what their roles is to be a parent and not be tempted by the world's devices.
