then zach...what about where it says no one can pluck you out of the Fathers hand...no one would include yourself...would it not?

violinist_for_jesus -> RE: Do you want to get married young? (4/25/2008 9:20:34 PM)

No one can as long as you are following Christ, but when you leave Him, and never com eback? Also, God doesn't make anyone follow Him or stay with Him. That to me, is the crux of this: free will or no free will? Both are true in a sense, but think about the pre-promised land Israelites. THey left God, did they not? And because of that they were unable to see the promised land?
Also, what about all of the sins of the israelites throughout the old testament? All of the cureses and punishements that they had to go through.
And then what about Annias and Sapphira? They were part of the church. But they decided to lie and they died. Do you think that they retained their salvation?

GradySizemorefan24 -> RE: Do you want to get married young? (4/25/2008 9:25:23 PM)

what does that have to do with accepting Christ, and your salvation? (the Israelites I mean)

violinist_for_jesus -> RE: Do you want to get married young? (4/25/2008 9:26:36 PM)

What are we talking about? Losing your salvation? Or being saved? I thought that we were talking about losing salvation...

GradySizemorefan24 -> RE: Do you want to get married young? (4/25/2008 9:28:33 PM)

yes we are, so what do the Israelites have to do with losing your salvation?

violinist_for_jesus -> RE: Do you want to get married young? (4/25/2008 9:29:48 PM)

They were part of a covenant with God. But they disobeyed and lost out. How is our current situation any different?

randy...I don't believe you can lose your salvation

What is salvation exactly?

GradySizemorefan24 -> RE: Do you want to get married young? (4/25/2008 9:31:53 PM)

Christ died on the cross, thats the difference.

violinist_for_jesus -> RE: Do you want to get married young? (4/25/2008 9:33:33 PM)

Yes, to pay the penalty of our sins. BUt if you leave Christ, and go off and live a life of sin. And never repent of it, and never come back to Jesus. Then how can you still say that you are saved?

GradySizemorefan24 -> RE: Do you want to get married young? (4/25/2008 9:34:56 PM)

salvation- accepting that you are a sinner, and that Christ died as a payment for your sins on the cross, He is the only way to heaven, without accepting Him as your savior and your way to heaven, you will go to hell

violinist_for_jesus -> RE: Do you want to get married young? (4/25/2008 9:36:18 PM)

Um, salvation-follow Christ. Take up your cross and follow Him.
Side note: there is really nothing in the Bible to support the accept Jesus as your savior point of view.

GradySizemorefan24 -> RE: Do you want to get married young? (4/25/2008 9:37:06 PM)

well think of it this way..if you disobey your parents and never repent of it and never stop it, does that mean you are no longer their child?

violinist_for_jesus -> RE: Do you want to get married young? (4/25/2008 9:41:43 PM)

Biologically, you may be considered their child. But realistically, you will probably disown them, or vise versa, or both!

So what you are trying to get at is salvation WITHOUT repentence? Salvation that isn't based on how you live and what you did. But just if you said that you accepted Jesus as your savior?

GradySizemorefan24 -> RE: Do you want to get married young? (4/25/2008 9:45:43 PM)

once you are truly saved, you become a child of God, you can not become an "un child" of God.

violinist_for_jesus -> RE: Do you want to get married young? (4/25/2008 9:49:10 PM)

Show me something in the Bible. And then what about satan? And the third of the angels with them?
And again, what about the israelites?

GradySizemorefan24 -> RE: Do you want to get married young? (4/25/2008 9:53:21 PM)

hey for one thing satan was never a child of God, he was an angel who fell, and therefore was cast into hell, the israelites were before Christ died.

violinist_for_jesus -> RE: Do you want to get married young? (4/25/2008 9:54:50 PM)

So? They were called the children of God.

quote:

Salvation means "deliverance", "bringing safely through", "keeping from harm"; already in the OT God revealed Himself as the One who saves His people. It is described in the NT as "the way" or road that leads through life to eternal fellowship with God in heaven. This road of salvation must be walked to the very end. We can describe salvation as one way with two sides and three stages:

1.) The one way of salvation. Christ is the way to the Father. Salvation is provided for us by God's grace, which He gives us freely in Christ Jesus based on His death, resurrection, and continued intercession for believers.

2.) The two sides of salvation. Salvation is a gift of God's grace received through faith in Jesus Christ. That is, it is extended to us by God as a result of His grace and is received by us through the response of faith.

3.) Three stages of salvation.
(a) The past stage of salvation includes the personal experience by which we as believers receive forgiveness of sins as a free gift and pass from spiritual death to spiritual life, from the power of sin to the power of God, from satan's dominion to God's dominion. It brings use into a new personal relationship with God and rescues us from the penalty of sin

(b) The present stage of salvation saves us from the bondage, power, and dominion of sin, and brings us into the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. It includes: the privilege of a person-to-person relationship with God as our Father and Jesus as our Lord and Savior; the call to count ourselves dead to sin and to submit to the leading of the Spirit and God's Word; the invitation to be filled with the Holy Spirit and the commanded to keep being filled; the demand to separate ourselves from sin and the present corrupt generation; and to call to contend for the advance of God's kingdom against satan and his demonic host.

(c) The future of salvation includes: our deliverance from God's coming wrath; our sharing in Christ's glory and receiving a resurrected or transformed body; and our receiving rewards as faithful overcomes. This future salvation is the goal toward which all Christians strive. All present warnings, discipline and punishment have as their purpose that believers should not forfeit this future salvation.

forfeit: lost or subject to loss by forfeiture.

zach...I feel no need to argue any further, it's doing no good. You're not going to convinve me of your beliefs and Im not going to convince you of mine.

violinist_for_jesus -> RE: Do you want to get married young? (4/25/2008 10:01:32 PM)

I agree. cheapen salvation to nothing. Anyway, I am done as well.

GradySizemorefan24 -> RE: Do you want to get married young? (4/25/2008 10:04:03 PM)

are u saying im cheapening salvation?

violinist_for_jesus -> RE: Do you want to get married young? (4/25/2008 10:04:58 PM)

By saying that you can go live like hell and still be saved. By saying/implying that repentence has nothing to do with it.

GradySizemorefan24 -> RE: Do you want to get married young? (4/25/2008 10:08:03 PM)

so you are saying that Im chapening salvation...correct?

violinist_for_jesus -> RE: Do you want to get married young? (4/25/2008 10:08:38 PM)

Yup.

GradySizemorefan24 -> RE: Do you want to get married young? (4/25/2008 10:11:51 PM)

well i appreciate your honesty, I'm sorry you feel that way about me, and that you don't know Jesus the way I do
