ummm...well, the McDonald clan (Connell is the Americanized version). Not sure of much else until I get some documents sent to me from a great uncle.
I just know they came over and ended up in Darlington, SC and then went on down into central Florida.

I was waiting to get the info from my uncle so I would have proper names and exact spellings, etc.
But I may go to ancestry.com just to see the site...thanks

You can get a free 14 day trial from ancestry.com I believe. It doesn't hurt to go and look around, but it might be better to wait until you get the info. If you have any names already you can start. I think there is some free stuff that you can do there (it may give you a bit of info and then tell you to sign up to get the rest.)

you can do quite a bit for free...but the whole linking to others who may have inputted information is pricey imo.
I won't be joining...just not gonna budget that much per month, but I will fill out as much as I can when I get everything and you can apparently print it all out in some organized manner which will help keep it all straight.

That's too bad Roberta, I never had a problem with them sending a lot of mail (I signed up for the free trial when I was helping my mom.)
There's also a lot of forums around for that stuff. GenForums is one, they are free and people can go on and post about who they are looking for, and then others can answer. My mom was on one and found someone asking about her mothers side of the family, so she was able to help them out.

I have no problem with being called a Brit, I am Scottish yes, but British thru and thru!

What, you have a European foods aisle?!?!? What part of the country do you live in? Do they have shepherd's pie seasoning in a packet? If they do and it has a British flag on it, you should so get it! That stuff is great, and I can't find it anywhere anymore. I forgot the brand. Humf! I wish my store had a European aisle! We have an Asian aisle and Mexican aisle.

When I was in the Bay Area, Roberta our Albertsons and Safeways all had Asian and Mexican aisles, but no European aisle. But, at least there was a Brit market where I could get sweets, tea and shepherd's pie seasoning. All the "international food market"s up here are mostly middle eastern or Russian.

San Carlos on El Camino. If you ever make it to that side sometime, you should definetely check it out....they have all kinds of tasty desserts and stuff and fancy imported teas.
