I had no idea QE was over all those countries on this side of the pond!! I knew they were rules by GB at one time, but didn't realize she was still queen over them. Thanks for the lesson, aga!

Did you watch Waking the Dead yesterday Manda? I was more hooked than usual and can't wait for tonight's episode.

I was reading 33 pages on the difference between us Brits and our American cousins, with it on in the background, but I will be enthraled with tonights episode.

I've met very few Americans claim British heritage

I will! My uncle traced us back to england past the american revolution. My ancestors fought on the british side till capture and then fought for the amercians. I can belong to the Daughters of the American Revolution. My uncle belongs to the Sons of the AR

I thought that Sherwood is an English name. Robin Hood came from Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire right in the middle of England.

Well in the rural south, mostly farming communities, most people have diesel trucks...so that's what it's called. But yes, petrol as you know on the other side of the pond is just gas to us.

Gas like in your street lamps or furnace (methane or butane) is called Natural Gas. Now to confuse you even more, natural gas is delivered by pipe lines. These pipe lines are only available in the city, and not available in other areas. So in out lying areas, people rely on LP Gas (liquid petroleum gas). However, it's just a given here that when people talk about cars, the gas is petrol; when they live in the suburbs or city and talk about appliances or heating their house, it's (natural) gas; if you live in the boondocks, it's LP (liquid petroleum).

Isn't this rather off-topic?

Woo hoo!! You know, I bought it and just put it by for Saturday without looking at it - that subscription offer sounds especially good!

I didn't like the Sontarans when Jon Pertwee was the Doctor (loved JP) - and they seem even more revolting now! We will have to see!

Hey Brits, why do your accents sound just like ours when you are singing?

I've always wondered that. I used to be a big Olivia Newton John fan and barely noticed her Aussie accent until one day when I heard her talk.

You think we sound like Canucks when we sing? English, Welsh, Scots, Northern Irish??

I don't think so!

Well, lexie is Canadian and thinks we sound Canadian when we sing, and you're a Yank and you think we sound like Yanks when we sing - how can it be both?

And actually, I honestly think you may not have listened closely enough. There's certain twangs that we just don't do (eg with the word 'heart').

I always thought the english accents made the words being sung more clearly audible.
