HERE

A really thick milkshake that really needs to be eaten with a spoon, or fries. Used to come only in chocolate...now also in vanilla. Chocolate is much better.

Except I'm not. Haven't you ever had chocolate covered pretzels? It's that same chocolate and salty combo.

So basically processed snack food out of a bag = crisps? I think I'm on my way to understanding.

You got it!

Apart from pork scratchings, they're just pork scratchings.

Those are porkrinds here, or if you grew up around Mexicans, chicharones.

I was given some crisps for a Christmas pressie. The veggie ones (carrot, parsnip, beetroot). They were really good ~ especially the beetroot. Did kinda colour your fingers though

I tried some of them once, agapetos, and I have to say they didn't do it at all for me!

I didn't much like the others, though they were better than I expected ~ I'm sure I tried them years back and didn't like them but maybe they've improved the processes involved. Beetroot is stll the best.

Ok let me get this straight

If chip = french fry - - - - then crisp = potato chip???

Yep, but also wheat and corn snacks get called crisps too.

We do the same thing with our "chips." We have Sun Chips which are made of wheat and Fritos, Cheetos or Cheese Puffs made from corn. I've even heard of the hard pretzels referred to as chips.

When I worked at Wendy's that was like one of the favorite snacks! We used to eat them with fries or nuggets.

Of course fast food fries are really only potato flavored salted grease. Nuggets are chicken flavored salted grease.

Unfortunately, most Americans are overweight. We have a terrible way of eating.

Well there goes one of my misconceptions. I've always heard that Europeans eat healthier meals and smaller portions than Americans and that they exercise more than we do.

The UK do not eat healthy as far as I have seen on the news and tv programmes like Jamie Oliver etc.
I think the french eat well and are slim. I think its that the US eats alot of take out, whereas the other countries just eat alot

That's an understatement!

When I was a kid, it was a treat to get to go to a fast food place. I think in our family, it happened once every two months or so. Now I know families that get their supper through drive-thrus several times a week. I'm quite guilty of going through a drive-thru whenever I'm running errands, etc.

Our nearest drive-thrus are at least 5 miles away. I don't know about other families but we probably have some kind of take-away meal once or twice a month, and that's usually fish and chips or kebabs.

When I think of 'thin' Europeans I think of the French. When I visited over there I didn't see a single overweight person...well at least, native person. My teacher/chaperone for the trip was overweight (and he was a Canadian!).

Kebob...you know like from the grill...meat and veggies grilled on a skewer.
