My husband's work told him they want to have a shower for me. I have never heard of anything like that before. I have never met anyone he works with, and it seems (from what Chris has told me) that is is mostly older guys and a few women. Has anyone heard of something like that before?

My husband's work doesn't do showers, but they always send a card and a substantial Walmart gift card when the baby is born. I've been told they also do a case of beer for Dad, but Brian doesn't drink, so they don't give him that...or maybe they drink it for him. He works in a concrete shop with a bunch of ruff and gruff men, so it cracks me up. They do love babies though. And I think the lady in the office heads it up.

Ach -- my nails (and hair) get far more brittle while pregnant (and my plantar warts worsen as well) ...

I have NEVER had that 'glow' that pregnant women are rumoured to get ....

I have a porcelain Lucy doll that my Grandma gave me many years ago...she is in the normal blue dress with white polka dots and the red hair bun.....I like it!!!! I wanted to name our orange haired cat "Lucy" but got outvoted by the princess squad, so she ended up "Belle"....lol

Kara...my nails and hair always look their best when pregnant and/or nursing.

Emily - Paul's work kind of did a shower... they sent all the gifts and cards home with Paul soon after Judah was born (not everyone gave something, just who ever wanted to) and then they all invited themselves over when the Doctor had ok-ed company .... We did a potluck and games, and they oo-ed and aww-ed over Judah.
So... ya... not really a shower, but kind of.

Kelbel- Congratulations!!! And what a great due date (my birthday)! Welcome back!

Dance, I'm so glad you had fun yesterday- it sounded great- post pics, post pics!!

Well, we finally have an appt that we know we can keep- March 15 will be our first doctor's visit! I'll be 16 wks by then, so I'm hoping they get me right in for an u/s and tell whether we're having a Noah or a Grace!

I'm spending the day packing today- I'm leaving for Vermont tomorrow morning to visit family for a week. I haven't seen anyone there since Christmas, and they're all excited to see how my tummy has grown since then!

Thanks Janine! I am much cooler online..I'm not nearly so awesome IRL! LOL

Sarah, I love that show too, I borrowed some from the library..
Have you ever read 'Meet the Mertzes'? My mom bought it and it was SO good. I literally read it in one afternoon LOL
I LOVE Elvis too! Not 70's Elvis so much..he was such a trainwreck. Defintely 50's pre-drugs Elvis. What's your fave Elvis movie?
(we can always continue this via pm Sarah..I don't want to get off topic LOL)

Just to keep this post a bit on-topic...pregnant. (Not that I am...just saying the word makes this a relevant post right? )

Alrightie. I feel my body shifting. It is now time to go lay down. I'll see you guys on the 'flip' side.

(i.e.... when I can't take laying down any longer and get up to stretch my hips and legs that have fallen asleep, lol)

We're still actively trying & praying we'll be able to have a child this year. Time is running out as this will be the last cycle that a child would FOR SURE be born this year. With my next cycle, the baby would be due early January (although we know s/he could always come early).

So if ya really want someone below ya....pray for some of us in the TTC/struggling thread!! We'd be delighted to come join y'all

Emily, my hubby's job did something special for us, but I wouldn't call it a shower. His boss called me and asked me if I would come down to the office because they were presenting hubby with some type of award. So I get down there they rush me into the conference room and then everyone comes in including hubby who is surprised to see me there. Then his boss proceeds to tell us that it was just a special get together for us and they had cookies, ice cream, and gave us a money tree. Since it was around Christmas time when they did it, they got a mini Christmas tree and hot glued ornament hooks onto $1 coins and hung them like ornaments. It was so cute and thoughtful. Everyone gave as much as they wanted and we were blessed with $75 for Hunter which we are going to go and open a savings account for him with. What can I say a year later and we still haven't done it, but those are the plans.

Thanks, Erin. I figured you were...just wasn't for sure. Sometimes it is easy to think one has been "forgotten" in the TTC world. (Hope that doesn't sound too terrible as that isn't how I meant it!) I haven't read all of your posts...so...forgive me if this has been asked...but how are you feeling? Any morning sickness? Tired? Ready to redecorate your bathroom yet?

Oddly enough, I have had NO symptoms. Other than tiredness and sore boobies (but I blame that on progesterone supplements more than anything). Hopefully next week at my doctors appt she will confirm that there is actually something in there!!

And yes, I understand, it is easy to feel forgotten in the TTC world. Actually I kind of felt bad getting pregnant since there were ladies left who had tried longer than I have, I felt like they should have came "first" but it wasnt my choice to make.

Ok Sarah..meet you in the march chat

No cycle yet. No pg yet. Nothing really...just odd things here and there...trying to be patient....it's up to God, so I can't complain can I??
I would love to join the thread again like now. But hubby deploys in 6 weeks. And he's gone for 2 weeks of training at the end of the month. So God's plans may be no baby until the man gets home....that would be our biggest gap by far!
We'll see....

Sandy

You reminded me Erin... I got my progesterone "white powder" - the Dr told me that these are made specially by the local CVS - she said it's the only pharmacy in this city that makes it, and she said it's just not common to find at most pharmacies. I thought that was interesting.

Anyways, they are like horse pills... only bigger And they go up my vagina. It's almost like sticking a (small) tampon inside.

Because it's a special compound the pharmacist told me she wasn't sure if our insurance would cover it - and it is $65 for one months supply (and I need it for the rest of the pregnancy)!! But thankfully it got worked out and our insurance covers it, I just need to pay a $3 co-pay since I'm not getting it filled on base. God is good

Thats great about only paying $3! I refilled my progesterone yesterday, can you believe its been a month already!? But this will be the last time to refill (I think anyway, she said until 10 weeks and I am 8 weeks on Thursday).

Kelbel - I'm due on the 10th, so just a few days behind you I've always heard 24 hours too. There is some theorizing that one can go longer though if they don't have a lot of internal checks, especially after the water breaks. The longest my midwife likes to wait is 24 hours before doing a transfer to the hospital, and that is with very minimal internal exams.

EmilyAnn - my husband's work had a shower for us with baby #1. He was a teacher at a private school at the time, and all of the kids in the upper school threw a surprise shower along with the other teachers.

Yay! Congrats on an appointment! FYI, they may wait a little bit for the u/s, since for the second trimester one to make sure the baby's growing well (and that all the parts are too), they prefer for you to be at least 19 weeks. Mine was rescheduled because my due date changed and I would have been 18 weeks, but they can't get the 'correct' cardiac views if they do it before 19 weeks. I don't know what they do for 'routine' u/s in the states though - that's just Canada.

ETA: Lovely pics, Emily (Dance)! That cake looks absolutely beautiful!!

Emily (dance) - Very lovely cake. I wouldn't want to cut it!

My apt went well today. He said everything was right on track still. Weight gain so far has been 4 lbs. HB was 153. And he was very confident that the baby is head down. He said that he will more than likely not do another us to see the position since so far it has remained the same, he will just keep checking my belly. And something that surprised me was that he said he would not do an internal check until about 39 weeks unless I start to have regular contractions. My drs in Orlando were not quite so conservative and would have done one by now. I like this guy! He really is hands off! Oh and he said that it has been several years since he has had to use any intervention to get the cervix to ripen. Anyway, now we start our weekly apts!
