I have a hard time reading Jael as anything but "jail." My mind does not put the y in the middle. Could you spell it Jayel or Jayelle or something?

Hadassah is an interesting name.

Not all that fond of Esther.

momma_bee -> RE: Jellybean #5...Hadassah or Esther?? Also choose middle name (3/3/2008 7:15:08 AM)

Esther. Two reasons. One, alliteration is NOT a mothers friend. Two, coming from someone who always has to spell her name, may I humbly suggest I can see this conversation in her future...

First Name? Hadassah.

How do you spell that? Hadassah. What came after the a? D, no the other a? And it ends with an A? H - A - D - A - S - S - A - H.

Ok, what kind of name is that? It is Hebrew for Esther.

Why didn't your mom just name you Esther????

I say this because I live it. My name is Momma. Is that Momma or Mama? Momma. Why not just Mom? Because that is my Mom's name. So, why didn't she name you after her? Because she didn't like it. So, why did she give you almost the same name? Because Dad liked it. Oh, so why isn't it a nickname? Because things are different in the hollow.

Except with my real name, I also have the I or Y at the end discussion.

And while it is all great story to share with friends, but it is horrid with an intake nurse when you are checking your 1 month old into the hospital or when you are 'confirming' yourself to the mtge company.

Jael sounds like Superman's Kryton name, or was that his dad...Ja-el and Ka-el?

But I have to say I like the sound of Jael Joy, which isn't a choice at all and is shows alliteration.

And, I'm not even looking to see how you spell alliteration but I know that that it is tough enough to say the right kids' name when they start with different letters, my nephews are both 'B' names and no one ever says the right name when they are in a hurry.

LOL, Momma_Bee!!![:D] Good points.

I think Hadassah may be out of the running anyway. My husband didn't care for it when it was brought up last pregnancy. Not that he hated it, just in a "that's too weird" kind of way. I made him say it several times last night (he's got a funky Southern accent, so all names have to pass that test first[8|]). He can't or won't say it right. He said it reminds him of a pre-Civil War slave saying, "Yessuh, Massuh."[:@] Silly man.

Sorry, Jae, but I think Esther may be our name.

I'll leave the poll up a bit longer and then change it to a middle name for Esther poll.[:D]

momma_bee -> RE: Jellybean #5...Hadassah or Esther?? Also choose middle name (3/3/2008 7:53:22 AM)

Donna - someone told me once to go to your back door and call the name out across the yard at the top of your lungs a few times, including full name, and THEN see if you like it.

I had an Aunt Hattie, I wonder what her name was...

WORK, I need to WORK.

cherish405 -> RE: Jellybean #5...Hadassah or Esther?? Also choose middle name (3/3/2008 11:49:46 AM)

peculiar_lady2 -> RE: Jellybean #5...Hadassah or Esther?? Also choose middle name (3/3/2008 11:37:39 PM)

bootsNspurs_mod -> RE: Jellybean #5...Hadassah or Esther?? Also choose middle name (3/4/2008 2:38:54 AM)

Esther Joy

PrincessDonna -> RE: Jellybean #5...Hadassah or Esther?? Also choose middle name (3/4/2008 7:43:36 AM)

First name...Hadassah 27% (17)
First name...Esther 22% (14)
Middle name...Joy 37% (23)
Middle name...Hope 11% (7)
Middle name...Jael 1% (1)
Other middle name 0% (0)

Even though Hadassah "won" on the poll...Esther it is.

Now for a middle name...Esther Joy, Esther Hope, Esther Jael, Esther Florence, Esther ???

BlessedMamaofmany -> RE: Jellybean #5...Hadassah or Esther?? Also choose middle name (3/4/2008 9:19:53 AM)

Ellie-Mae -> RE: Jellybean #5...Hadassah or Esther?? Also choose middle name (3/4/2008 10:31:43 AM)

2shaye -> RE: Jellybean #5...Hadassah or Esther?? Also choose middle name (3/4/2008 4:57:18 PM)

I voted Esther Joy, but the name that popped into my mind when I first read your signature to go and vote was Esther Grace.

Congratulations! I pray you are blessed during this pregnancy!

PrincessDonna -> RE: Jellybean #5...Hadassah or Esther?? Also choose middle name (3/4/2008 4:59:57 PM)

Hmmm...Esther Grace is kind of nice too. Those who know my last name...does it fit? I wonder about the soft and hard c together. Our last name starts with Cl.

Ellie-Mae -> RE: Jellybean #5...Hadassah or Esther?? Also choose middle name (3/4/2008 5:12:49 PM)

It sounds nice, but I keep accidentally Extra Grace C...

II don't know why that doesn't happen with Esther Joy.

we have a "Hannah Grace C" and you know our last name...so I think it goes well.
however, I like Esther Joy better.....just my personal opinion.

BlessedMamaofmany -> RE: Jellybean #5...Hadassah or Esther?? Also choose middle name (3/5/2008 2:37:27 PM)

Esther Grace C does work Donna, but I like Esther Joy better too
I'm with Sarah =)

momma_bee -> RE: Jellybean #5...Hadassah or Esther?? Also choose middle name (3/6/2008 7:00:06 AM)

I like Esther Grace more and more as I say it, but don't use Esther Gylcol...

Flintejae -> RE: Jellybean #5...Hadassah or Esther?? Also choose middle name (3/7/2008 9:41:24 PM)

I like Esther Joy!

I guess that means I'll be the only one with a Hadassah Joy for a girl. [:D]

PrincessDonna -> RE: Jellybean #5...Hadassah or Esther?? Also choose middle name (3/8/2008 2:16:55 PM)

It's a beautiful name, Jae, and I hope you do get to use it someday.[:D]

I am strongly leaning toward Esther Joy. I know we will get some grief for the first name, but I care more about meaning than what other people think or a name's popularity. In fact, I tend to like less popular names more.[:D]

It's nice to know people here like it at least.[:D]

Our church does have a great number of less common Biblical names, so it shouldn't be too odd in that circle. We have Titus, Peter, Malakai, Levi, Eli, Moriah (after Mt Moriah), Naomi. Esther will fit just right.[:)]

.Pammy -> RE: Jellybean #5...Hadassah or Esther?? Also choose middle name (3/8/2008 6:36:11 PM)

I'm introducing something brand new for a middle name -

Esther Elizabeth. I love the way this rolls off the tongue.

_Cinderella_ -> RE: Jellybean #5...Hadassah or Esther?? Also choose middle name (3/9/2008 6:34:24 AM)

Titus - wow. Not a name I ever would of thought of for a baby.

OneOfHisJewels -> RE: Jellybean #5...Hadassah or Esther?? Also choose middle name (3/10/2008 9:41:59 PM)

Well, I was going to say Esther Elizabeth, but PamelaSue beat me to it.[;)]

I'll be back in a minute.

Ellie-Mae -> RE: Jellybean #5...Hadassah or Esther?? Also choose middle name (3/10/2008 10:52:49 PM)

I like Esther Elizabeth.

momma_bee -> RE: Jellybean #5...Hadassah or Esther?? Also choose middle name (3/11/2008 6:42:41 AM)

Now, wait a minute.

I didn't know we could add other choices...

Try this - Esther Elaine. It sounds great until you realized that others will hear "Esthery Lane"

Donna - I like Joy and I don't know about your last name, but I remember reading something about the number of sylables making the names sound better. Esther only has one, so we tend to want to put something with more syllables with it. In other words, what sounds good without your last name may sound awful with it. And, of course, we get used to what we use and like it sounds more normal.

I like Joy better because it expresses gratitude for where you are, Hope has an expectation to it, like you are waiting for more.

PrincessDonna -> RE: Jellybean #5...Hadassah or Esther?? Also choose middle name (3/11/2008 7:43:35 AM)

Sorry, I don't care for the name Elizabeth in any form. Nothing against those who bear the name.[;)]

MB, Esther actually has two syllables.[:D]

Interesting thought. But we are waiting for more, aren't we?
