Well, I guess you can pronounce that way, but folks might look at you funny...

Did you see how early I posted? I even clapped it out like they taught me in school. I'm not looking for a smiley, just picture me looking a little bit embarrassed, but chuckling at my own mistake. When I feel this way, I usually pucker up and kinda push my lips off to one side. What folks would call a wry smile. That is the smiley you should see...

Oh, no, I didn't stick my tongue out at your or northward AT ALL.

You know what I think is funny about your thread? I like Gideon much better than Esther. Hmmm, Gideon James has a NICE ring to it. Not that I expect a little one to use it. (James is a family name that hasn't been used much)

In my family it's been used. A lot.

I'm James, my Grandfather, a couple of uncles, and quite a few people in my wife's family.

I like Gideon Micah best. It is funny, MB...Gideon was the boy name we had originally picked for Levi. But then we thought we were having a girl and when he turned out to be a boy, we thought Levi fit him better. I will be a little sad if I don't get to use the name Gideon. But then again, I admit I'll be a little sad if my little girl doesn't get a sister, since this is likely our last baby.

God knows what we will have and whatever "kind" God sends us will be just perfect.

On that note, please vote whether you think we'll be getting a Gideon or an Esther. Or both! LOL

Esther Joy 60% (15)
Esther Hope 20% (5)
Esther Jael 8% (2)
Esther Florence 0% (0)
Esther ??? 12% (3)

I'm late to all this . . . but I like Esther Joy.

Oh, and I voted in your poll.

Can you guess which one I chose?

I don't have to guess. I have super powers, remember?

And if I have twins, you'll volunteer to come stay with us for the first two years, right?

That's why I bolded "guess" . . . I was hoping you wouldn't cheat.

Well, let's just wait and see if you really do have twins before I do any volunteering. My goodness! 6 kids + 3 adults?! That's 8 people more than I'm used to, doncha know.

Maybe we could do a trial run of a few days.

I know that it is out of the running...but I prefer Hadassah to Esther....lol

Hadassah means "myrtle tree"...or tree of anointing. It is a symbol of victory and a symbolic name for girls born on Sukkot because a branch of the myrtle bush, which has a lovely fragrance, is one of the Four Species.

Meanwhile Esther is most probably the Hebraic version of the Persian goddess Ishtar, although it could also mean star. It was given to Esther to HIDE her identity..a name of fear. Later it does become a name of triumph...but interestingly, you won't find her referred to as Esther by Jewish people...she is still Haddassah.

and as to it being too close to Hannah....

take it from a mom of 5....it doesn't matter HOW different their names are...you'll end up calling them each other's names at some point (and even across gender lines at times!)

Esther Joy for the girls name, although I must say that the more I say Hadassah the more I'm liking it.

Praying that you have...a beautiful healthy baby.

WOF...that's quite the avatar! LOL!! Is that to suggest that you are One Tough Mamma?!

Forget gender lines - I have been known to cross species! Trust me, people look at you real funny when you call your boy by the (female) dog's name.

I'm jumping in late, but I'm sure you want my opinion , so . . . I like Esther slightly more than Hadassah only because most people will know how to spell it. Since we have a difficult last name, I'm sensitive to that. I also have a cousin who not only has a difficult last name, but whose common first name is spelled "wrong," so she's gone through her entire life having to spell out both her first and last names. It gets real old after awhile.

lol...I don't care about spellings being wrong. I grew up with people misspelling my nickname because it was spelled different than the "normal" way of spelling it...so I picked an easy, well known first name for our firstborn daughter.....and everyone misspells it....seems that somewhere between my senior year of high school and when she was born..they came up with a new way to spell that name and everyone else went to the new way....lol

Hadassah and Hannah are too similar to me!

That's why I voted Esther too!

I voted for Esther Joy, but I like Esther Hope, too.

Thanks for finding my thread, Catherine!

We're currently settled on Gideon Micah for a boy and Esther Hope for a girl.

I'm 30 weeks 3 days now, not that I'm counting or anything...LOL!

Having some BP issues and keeping a log until my next appointment (July 10th). Had PIH (pregnancy-induced hypertension) at the end of last pregnancy too. I so didn't want to go here again, but God's got it under control, as always.

Glad you found your Jellybean thread, Donna.

I like Esther Joy the best, but I do really like Esther Grace too. That sounds really nice.

I am praying that both names are used. Otherwise, why would Donna keep going back and forth between saying he and she? It isn't like she doesn't know what they are. I think that we should just refer to them as "The Twins" until they are born.
