Hey Amber!!!! I admit that I am not the most brilliant person when it comes to politics and government stuff, but I know probably the same amount about Canada as I do about America. It seems that most of the news is about America so I can't exactly hide from stuff.

Here is part of my blog for you gals who aren't on myspace. quote:
2. I actually had a co-worker argue with me that a telephone call to Canada was not an international call. 3. The same co-worker in number 2 stated that Mexico was not in North America, but it was in Latin America. I kid you not. 4. Yet another co-worker asked me to identify Puerto Rico on a map because he didn't know where it was. I must have had that "are you an idiot?" look on my face. In a defensive tone he said, "I am not good at history." It took all of the self restraint I have not to laugh at him. One a side note, this person is a graduate of the University of Alabama. Roll Tide Roll!

Most of our new stations are American. And even on Global a lot of talk is about America too. All I know is that the States has WAY more people than Canada. Doesn't California have more people in it than all of Canada???

I think you have to remember that the US is much larger then Canada, probably the farther away you get(farther south) the less news we get. The US has a larger population but I think Canada is a larger geographic area. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

HERE are the stats.

HERE are the stats. The land is pretty much the same size. A lot of Northern Canada isn't populated or has very few people.

Nicole and Chelsea, I'm Canadian too, living in Winnipeg. My second son's girlfriend grew up in Yellowknife and her dad still lives there. I'd love to visit sometime. One of our newspaper reporters spent about a week on the icebreaker Amundsen recently and sent back daily reports. He was in one of the really northern communities and someone he interviewed said he would never come to Winnipeg because it's much colder here than where he is. Go figure! My observation about Americans is that they really are ignorant about Canada but as someone pointed out, they're not taught about us much in school. We, on the other hand, are inundated with information on the US from TV, books (fiction and non-fiction), the news, etc.

ORIGINAL: ChelseaRae Alright, How many provinces do we have? How many territories? Who is our Prime Minister? What is the capital of Canada? If you were given a blank map of Canada how many provinces/territories could you label? ETA: Is this an appropriate kicka topic? I thought it was but I just wanted to make sure :) This is sad because I am not going to do well. Are their 8 provinces? BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec, Ontario, Novia Scotia, New Brunswick. I think I am missing a few. Territories? I can only think of one to name but I know there are more. Yukon is the one I can think of. I have no idea who the prime minister is. The capital is Ottawa, right? I think I am flunking the test LOL.

I confess, I don't know much about Canada. Nor do I stress about that. I'm just about 2.5 hours from Canada, and I think 4 hours from Niagara Falls. We do get one Canadian channel here and I do like to watch the news every once in a while. Their style of reporting is very different than the stations around here.
