I just realized we have kind of a busy week ahead.

Tonight, the kids have AWANA and I have a BOE meeting.

Tomorrow, Noah and Hannah have dentist's appointments an hour away. After that, we'll go to the zoo, which is right around the corner, and will be a lot more fun not having to fight with Levi (he's staying with one of Brian's sisters)! Then we'll do a quick shopping trip at Walmart on the way home, so I don't have to make another trip this week.

Wednesday is Bible study, which I am not leading this week, thankfully. I know I'll have to field a ton of questions about the CPS/Nick thing though, and I am not looking forward to that.

Thursday, Noah has a field trip in the morning and I may have some extra kids here so their parents can drive the school kids. In the afternoon, Brian and I have a meeting with Nick's teacher to discuss holding him back vs. summer school.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday...Nick will be here. We need to get our garden tilled and the early stuff planted, if the weather cooperates.

Sunday after church, there is a 25 year celebration for the Christian school. I'll pretty much be at church all day, though I will probably send Brian home with the little kids so they can nap. Noah and I will stay.

Then next Tuesday, Brian is off work for his appointment with an orthopedic surgeon for his shoulder. We're going out to lunch after that...mmmmmm....Greek! Then my ultrasound appointment that afternoon.

I'm going to have a simple week, too. Three out-of -the-ordinary things going on are 1. extra choir rehersals for our Spring Hymn Concert at church, 2. hardening off my sprouts for my garden, and 3. I have to clean the windows of my house- the filth is driving me nuts. Everything else is your standard cleaning, menu planning, errand running, exercise, etc that I do every week.

Sandy, glad you all are home safely and got the vehicle fixed! There's never a convenient time for a vehicle to break down. Argh.

Not-so-busy week here! We're really cutting out/condensing a lot of trips because of gas ($3.40 here now).

Yesterday Mike and I talked about just staying at church in the afternoons on Sundays instead of driving home in between services (we have Sun morning and Sun night church). We talked to a few other families who drive a ways (some up to 50 miles one way!) and they think they want to stay, too! So we'll be bringing our lunches and fellowshipping, it'll be great! We'll also get a lot of VBS preparation and stuff done. Yay! And save on gas for everyone!

We are going to a festival in the next town over on Saturday, so looking forward to that! I think my mom is coming to spend the day that day.

Our fence is finally finished, so now we can bring our llama back over from the neighbors (he kept escaping!) and get goats again! Ladies, I'm going to venture into (*trying*) milking goats!!! Goat milk is SO in demand here! We got 2 new bunnies yesterday so we should have baby bunnies in 27 days. The weather has turned so nice -- sunny and 80! Hopefully we can get the garden plowed this week and get started tilling!!
Yay for spring!

I do come home from church in the afternoon but when I take DD1 back for youth group in the evening I stay at my parents house with the other kids. It's 5 mins to their house and 15-20 to my house.

Rachel, you're making me feel real guilty for skipping church yesterday.

In my defense, Nathan has a runny, stuffed up nose. I'm not sure if that's "enough" to keep him away from other kids, though.

$3.69 here now. And yes, we're cutting out and condensing as much as we can too. But the things this week and next are all necessary things. Plus the only really far trips are to the dentist/zoo and that's why I'm also combining the shopping trip, even though I'm sure I'll already be exhausted.

The real gas killer is my husband's job...30-40 minutes each way this time of year, more in the winter. But that's kind of unavoidable. Thankfully, our church is only 5 minutes away, as are the kids' doctor, my OB and hospital, and several smaller stores (Dollar General, Kinney's, dairy).

Gas prices are just as bad here too so I am trying to stay home as much as possible. Its so hard though to stay home sometimes when I need a change of scenery.

I feel guilty today though I know I shouldn't. Hunter is playing so good by himself and I am taking full advantage of that. I have played with him some, but I am enjoying the fact that he is entertaining himself and having a good time doing so. I still struggle now and again with feeling like I should be giving him all my time and attention when I know this is not true. Hubby is in Atlanta today so we won't see him till 5 o'clock or so, then I have bible study and afterward a few of us are going out, but I should be home by 8:30 or so. That still gives us plenty of time to spend together this evening.

Chelle- it's just as important for Hunter to learn to be alone as it is for you to teach him. You are a wonderful mother!

Our gas is at about $3.27 and we are sort off condensing things, but I needed to do that anyway just for household reasons. We have our major shopping down to every other week and then one day on the off weeks I set up all our appointments and other shopping stuff.

Micah just got a second job, but it's in Denver and I'm afraid that most of his pay is going to be sucked by gas prices so we are talking about buying a second, smaller car and once the truck is at a point where it will be a good trade-in then we are talking about doing that too I really love my truck but my nursing clinicals are all going to be in Denver proper and our Xterra is a gas hog. It's fine for right now since I stay in town but once I have to go any farther it gets icky.

I was sick yesterday....not sure exactly what it wasn, but my back was killing me and that was making me throw up all day....nauseating....anyway I feel better today, but still have no energy, so we are taking it easy. Well...I am taking it easy....hubby doesn't know what that word is. So far his "nothing" day has consisted of taking four mattresses outside and washing them so they can sit out in the sun...moving some furniture...and now it's just lunch time and he has taken the kids out to get something and go to the store. LOL....he cracks me up...I swear the man will be moving til the minute he dies!!!

The way I look at it, unless you are really strapped to pay your bills, spending a little money on gas to go to the local park or mall is okay. We need to get out of the house every once and a while, so do the babies. I know Nathan is much happier when we get out. If you really need to save on gas, then at least a walk or playing in the yard is great too.

Chelle, aren't there days when Hunter is especially clingy and grouchy? On those days you take really good care of him, and spend a lot of time with him, and on other days, Zippy is right. He gains a lot from exploring and playing on his own. Everything in moderation, right? Time with mommy, time with daddy, time alone. You're doing a really good job!

We are having a fussy, clingy day, and my back is killing me! Hey, it's tough lugging around a 24lb+ baby, and trying to do all the house chores. Nathan got angry when I was sweeping the kitchen and wouldn't give him the broom. He has his own mini broom, but noooooo, he wanted mine.

Hey, Ruth, what about something like a Beco? If I remember correctly Nathan hasn't been a huge fan of carriers, right? He might like being on your back though while you do chores...

We have something like that. I haven't used it in a while, though. Might be worth a shot if he's still cranky when he wakes up.

He is having a good nap, though.

Gas....grrr.

We own one car, so it's not that big a deal. But Dh drives a half an hour to work at least each day. Anything I need to do I can do in the neighbourhood or use transit, so it doesn't bother me not having a car. But now we're starting to pay attention to how much driving we do. I'm going to start walking to swimming lessons now (which is in the next neighbourhood over) and we're going to have to visit family less now.

Our 13 year old nephew should be coming to stay with us this weekend. He's been looking at internet pornography a lot lately. His parents have tried every kind of parental control they can, but he seems to be getting around it. His parents work a lot (more than they should) and for the past few years a lot of responsibility has been put on him at home (more than any child should have) and I think this is his way of rebelling and defying his parents. But the parents unfortunately don't see it this way.

I'm hoping I'll be able to get him to open up to me while he's here, talk to me about why he looks at it, and what his feelings are about the home situation. I think he just needs some time away from his family, and to be a kid. He loves basketball so I'm going to take him to an NBA playoff game (if we don't lose anymore games, otherwise the one we're going to won't happen!) Dh will play lots of video games with him. I'm also hoping that the midway is still up this weekend and we can either go there, or go bowling.

The good news:
dH and I celebrate 7 years of marriage today.
We have a healthy, beautiful son, and dh and I are in pretty good health, too.
We have good food, health care and a nice house.

The bad news:
As I was putting away a large jug of OJ, I accidentally knocked over a large jug of pink lemonade inside the refrigerator. This means I pull out much of the fridge and try to wipe everything down and mop up a lot of pink lemonade. Nathan was pretty good, though, and I've take a bunch of ibuprofen for my back.

In the end, its not so bad.

Happy Anniversary Ruth!!
Oh, don't you hate when soft drink spills in the fridge?

I am having a sucky day so far, not enough sleep whatsoever and I need to get invites done for the women's meeting next sat that my soon to be pastor's wife asked me to this sunday grrrrrrrrr she is going to have to work out people need more than a week to get things done, esp when they have kids etc. Lucky she is also a friend otherwise....Oh and I had asked her 3 times during the past 3 weeks if she wanted me to do it but she never got back to me. Oh well, hopefully they will look good and it will be a good night.

No, I didn't know about Cynthia. dH took us all out for ice cream tonight; Nathan can actually handle a baby cone, and that's pretty cute.

And somehow I knew you'd call me out on another spill. But yes, I am a bit clumsy.
