I love it, but you may want to give the scripture that says God won't give us more than we can bear but will give us a way out of temptation and explain why it is taking it out of context to say "God won't give us more than we can handle." I'd add another sentence or two addressing that...

You actually are a good writer! You have good style which is something that can't be taught.

Good idea.

And I agree...Sandy, you are a great writer. Easy to read and catch your tone in your writing, and I don't think it's just because I have met you IRL.

It's not. I was an English Lit Major and have edited loads of papers as well as written a few thousand. I also worked as a free-lance writer straight out of college... so it's my unbiased opinion that you are a good writer.

Love it, Sandy!

You do have a nice writing style. Like Zippy, I have read/edited more then my fair share of papers and your writing is very easy to read, you have a great "voice".

I remember in Germany it was much more expensive to shop "on the economy" then on base. Everything was more expensive off the base, but I was never sure if maybe the military subsidized their food and clothing?

it is still more expensive to shop on the economy. I went to the Marktel a few times to get things, but it was always a killer even with *VAT forms. The exchange rate when I moved over there was about .72 cent eoru=$1 US. I heard it wasn't as bad when it was Marks, but when it switched to Euro's it killed the economy prices.
(*for those that don't know and want to know, a VAT form is a piece of paper we could buy from the base that allowed us to take the VAT or Value Added Tax off of items. Over there they automatically add the tax into the cost of the item. Because of the fact that we were US citizens though we could get forms to fill out that took that off....however we had to purchase those, so anything under about $10 in value wasn't worth wasting a VAT form.)

quote:

One thing was for sure, I lived there 18-20 years ago, and there weren't a lot of supersized stores or malls. When I returned to the US, the size and variety of US malls and megastores was overwhelming.

it hasn't changed...there aren't very many big/huge stores.

I agree....I have found that God typically WILL give us more then we can handle...but NOT more then HE can handle through us.

Sandy, I love the devotional. I agree about adding the part about temptation (the context of "God won't give us more that we can handle" in regard to temptation but will provide a way of escape). Also, listen to what God is saying through you and let him teach you also. I think it is a beautiful one and very timely.

Excellent point about the scriptures girls, I will defintely do that.

And Zippy and Ryanne, that's so kind of you to say I'm a good writer, that means a lot and I'm tickled pink at the praise!

I was dangerously close to hosting a private pity party earlier...but I got my laundry folded and watched some tv and that's helped tremendously.
...of course, all your sweet praise helps too

Perfect... well, almost! 3 things to edit:
1. Capitalize 1 cor 10:13 twice
2. Check spelling on Psalms on first verse at bottom
3. Delete footnote link in last verse quoted

Good night girls!!

Sandy, I love your devotional. It is something I need to hear right now since we'll be smoking our last cigarette tomorrow night. I also love your writing style.

Nicole, is a lot of your produce grown there in Australia or is it imported from South America and places like that? A lot of our produce here in the states is from here, but also S.A., but that's a lot closer to us than you. Maybe it costs less to import to us since we're closer. Our gas is cheaper too, so the cheaper the gas, the cheaper it is to ship it across the country, the cheaper it is on the shelf.

Today is me and hubby's third wedding anniversry, and he bought me some beautiful pink roses. My fav color!

Sandy, that is great writing.

I'm heading off to my mom's small group. I've been really emotional lately, I don't know what's going on. Everything makes me want to cry. Some lady won a car on the price is right the other day and she said "Thank you Jesus" and I started crying about that. And that story about the girls who play baseball and carried the injured girl around the bases for her homerun...they were on Ellen yesterday and that made me cry. (no i'm not pregnant)
I did stop taking my meds for PPD, but it's been 2 months or more since I've been off them.
Anyway, just hoping I can get through group without crying for no apparent reason.
AND...I might need a little prayer...we were reading a really great book in our group about creating space in our lives, and we finished that, and now we're on this Bible study workbook, and I don't like it There's nothing wrong with it, I just feel like I'm in sunday school or Bible college again. I probably really need to hear some of what's in it, but I've always had a hard time with stuff like that...I have some sort of hardness against it. SO, if y'all could pray that we can break down some walls so that I can get something out of this book?? Much appreciated

I need to leave in 20 minutes, and neither of us is dressed, better run!

I am pretty sure that some over here don't read the HS folder much, but Lisa (EllieMae) is having surgery today to remove nodules and possibly her thyroid. So y'all remember her in prayer today. (I think she said her surgery was about 10:30 Eastern time)

Yolanda, sounds like the meds wearing off to me. I would keep a close eye on yourself and see if it doesn't start to get better soon.

My kids are so trainwreck-y today. Amanda cries at the drop of a hat, Sissy won't control herself, and Wesley is clinging like a fat little burr. Isaiah is okay, but cling-y-er than usual too.
this will pass this will pass this will pass.
Today is pwoc, so we all get a break from one another today, that'll be nice.
And my friend offered to go with me to my new house for the inspection and keep the littles busy, so I'm stoked about that.

Happy late anniversary, Christina! I know your marriage hasn't been the easiest, but hang in there and follow God!

Praying, Yolanda. I've found that the books/studies I have had the hardest time with are the ones God wanted to use to work the most change in me.

I'm feeling ambitious today. We'll see how far that ambition gets me though.

Enjoy your breaks! And yes, this will pass. Come down whenever you want distraction/help with the kiddos next week...Hannah can't wait to show her friends the horsies.

Sandy.....I thought of something you can do for your two oldest girls that might help them. When you can afford it, put together a special box of "daddy making craft stuff"....things they can make for daddy (cards, paper, scissors, markers/crayons, etc) and put it in a special box just for each of them, then tell them it's just for making stuff for daddy when they miss him. Then they can hopefully express more things more easily when they need to because of missing him.

GREAT idea Sarah! I'm so going to do that!
I've also been working on printing up pics to put in a small album for each of the babies.
When we get moved and get settled, I've already picked out a wall that I'm going to COVER with pics of Daddy.
Thanks for the idea, I think my girls would love that. I already have tons of scrapbooking supplies around, so I'll just use that, and go to the dollar store and get a couple of boxes

Donna, good luck with your ambition...LOL. We'll be down soon, as soon as I get past most of the work with getting ready to close the house
