I am new at this post and forum but i wanted to add my two cents to this forum I agree it is hard to not look at a female whether in or out of service... I was a teacher in a small church and we had chairs for yrs I had two women well one was very young and the other my age they both set with their feet up on the rail of the chairs with short skirts on and if i was in the right position (by design or not) could see their panties and it was hard not to look. I was glad wth we got pews LOL I stll teach and it is hard sometimes not to think back But we are overcomers.. but age even doesnt make it easier

I too have struggled with lust while at church. One thing that has really helped me is to not let my mind get to that fantasy stage where I stop noticing a pretty woman and start seeing a sexy seductive beauty swaying her hips in her sly attempts to seduce me. I don't think its lust if you notice that the lady's chest is almost completely out of her blouse, but it is lust when you start to think about what they must be like, or try to get a second look. Its not in the seeing, its all in the mind. And we can control that with the strength that God gives us. Another thing that has really helped me on Sunday morning is not waiting for church to get focused. It really helps if you can get up early and spend some time focusing on God while your still at home. If we wait for church, we might not find enough time to get ourselves focused properly. And remember, these women are there to worship God, they aren't there to be worshiped. I highly recommend the book "Every Man's Battle" by Steve Arteburn. It helped me so much with dealing with lust. I can't say enough good about this book.

I was home on leave and went to my home Church. I had just spent 15 months in Iraq and of course after service Pastor wanted to sit with me and catch up. we were talking and a lady came in to get her purse after service. as we were sitting in the pew and she walked down the middle aisle. well lets say the split in back of her short skirt was up to her waist almost. I guess standing wouldn't be too bad, as we were sitting though, well she should have been nude from waist down. lets just say it was a bit to talk to Pastor because he gave her a good talking to. wasn't much happiness on her part when she left. she was back the night service dressed a lot more modest. they may not even know they doing it(((but LOTS do))) but women are a temptation to look at

While it can't justify me, I certainly feel somewhat relieved that many others have the same problem I have regarding "Being sensually tempted, IN CHURCH!!". I guess what is some concern to me is why women wear such seductive clothing to church. Makes you wonder if they are actually there to worship. Unfortunately, my ogling makes me wonder about myself sometimes regarding whether I am really there to worship. Pray for me.

I applaud your pastor- what a difficult position to be in, thank God he was man enought to say something. [&:] I understand what you are saying and appreciate the concern, but we can't stick our heads in the sand on the issue. We do need to be focused when we go to church. But we are also mortal man that is we we worship the Immortal, Invisilbe, the only wise GOD, be glory and honour forever and ever, Amen. We need to be honest and our sisters need to help us out. It's not a problem overall in my church, if it becomes a problem I will contact the Pastor himself and let him know.

hello! i am new here, and i thought i would say something. Im 15 yrs old, and i too notice the very many things you guys are talking about. i had a problem with masturbating for almost 2 yrs. and its still a strong temptation. But i think God has pulled me out of that pit, and now i havent done it in over 3 months. and im pushing for a year. and longer. its so hard, but i keep telling myself, its not worth it and i will regret it if i fall to it. so i keep trying, and striving. i am still young, and i know i will face this for the rest of my life, but i guess i am happy that God has helped me get out of such of a big whole in my life. it makes me feel alot more spiritual when i dont do it. one thing i like about resisting the temptation, is i feel i just defeated satan. and i can imagine him snarling and very mad b/c i didnt fall into that temptation. now dont get me wrong, i still have problems with lusting and looking at innapropriate things. but my days of porn are over, and now im working on not looking at anything innapropriate. and its hard! my striving in life is to be the best i can be for God. i wear a Dogtag that says "Warrior of God" - Matthew 19:26 (which says) : With God all things are possible. and this means that i just want to be reminded that what i am striving for has no room for sexual sin or any sin. and i just think that verse is very encouraging. so i wear that dogtag, to remind and encourage me. thanks for reading this. i would appreciate any thoughts. :) Landon <><

Here's one more for the thread... Well, I ain't dead yet. Even at 50+ years the temptation of thought is there. The only good thing, if you want to call it that, is at my age you realize it is never going to become a reality because if you have any morality whatsoever you won't be dumb enough to pursue what your eyes are seeing. It is an issue I have prayed about before. We are human and we have these sexual desires. God gave them to us - so we have them and we have to live with them. What we do with those desires is up to us. Something that helped me was I actually "practiced" looking women strictly in the eye when speaking to them. I would try to never look below the chin (sounds silly huh?). Been doing this for years. Thoughts still pop up in my head every now and then but I can generally dismiss them and move on. Women are wonderful. God gave me a beautiful wife. I figure if I can love God first, I can love my wife all I want. Been married 26 years now.

It can be quite a challenge. Unfortunately, many women in the church wear inappropriate things which just helps add to the problem.... I wonder, for those who wear revealing shirts, skirts, or tight clothing, are they consciously or sub-consciously trying to attract attention? One time, (to switch the topic just slightly), a person at my workplace was wearing a very revealing top. It was hard not to look...I felt very uncomfortable... I just don't get it...why can't women just cover up..tastefully speaking..I am not saying they have to wear a tent..but, just use some common sense! C

However, we as Christians should know how to dress and if it becomes an issue we should tell our church leadership so they can let folks know. Some folks just don't know. The church I attend isn't bad at all. Staying focus is our challenge.

You know, guys . . . I honestly wondered when I looked at the title of this thread, "What in the world is this gonna be about?" But you know, it is very true, and a serious problem we have as men in the Body of Christ. As I thought, reading through each post, I recollected times when I had the same thoughts, and yes, even thought PATTERNS, and should repent. I'm sorry, I'm not so good remembering names, but one that stuck out to me was the 15 year old young man. Keep up the good fight of defeating Satan! You're absolutely right, he doesn't like your daily victories one little bit! But God is greater!

I'll be honest, my biggest issue is not women dressing scandalously in church; that isn't much of a problem in mine (though it happens). For me the issue is that I am extremely turned on by beautiful women who dress modestly. I mean, I definitely have to control wandering eyes when women aren't dressed so carefully, but in those situations I don't have to worry about lingering on that particular woman as much. It is the attractive Christian women who are dressed appropriately that hold my attention, sometimes a bit too much. I mean, there is nothing wrong with me liking women like that, but I just need to be careful with where my mind takes it and to bring it before God in prayer.

well, i've read the posts on this topic and it is good to know that i'm not the only man struggling with this. before i was saved i was a womanizer all the way. it was always easy for me because God blessed me with some pretty good looks. forgive me if i seem immodest but it's the truth. women still find me attractive at the ripe old age of 48. anyway it makes a big problem for me because they do a lot of looking at me and the old man within wants to look back at them. i'm trying to remember that the fact of the matter is, i'm a new creation in Christ and i don't have to give in to those desires that would ruin my marriage and hurt my wife so terribly. probaly my struggle is so great because of who i WAS. i could use some prayers myself. with a rocky marriage and the wife gaining weight the enemy is pounding on me.

I believe that women play a big role in this as well. Christian women need to dress modest and not want their brothers to stumble by wearing things that may be to tight or revealing.

As I stated before, Dressing modest really helps somewhat, but not overall. I live in the Detroit area and went to Dearborn this past week. Dearborn has a high Islamic population and the women most of them dress with their arms and legs covered and hair covered. Still that doesn't keep them from being checked out by guys though. I do agree some sisters don't need to dress like its' a club or bar and that does feed into it as well. Women have remember they are still women and men are still men, even in worship.
